I'm from the UK and can't say I'm a fan of the new times either.

Previously it was always 8am and people would be in bed or getting themselves to work. I've never had issues ordering. Now it's 1pm and clearly there was a lot more people who had a bit of free time because everything was rammed.

Like somebody said though. You can't please everyone. To be honest I understand why the US has to have pre-orders at the same time but why can't the UK have their own separate time? It's not like we're sharing stock. Same goes for Australia, Japan etc etc

I kind of liked the 3am ordering. It was a once every 2 years ritual for me. Oh well, pre ordering this morning was the fastest ever. No dealing with websites, verifying accounts, etc. done in less than a minute once the app loaded around 7:01-02.

The checkout process literally took me one minute with the IUP. Not sure when in my day I wouldn’t be able to find one minute tbh.

This.

I didn’t order but at 7:00 AM I’d be at work with no time to order.

#MakePreordersGreatAgain

Cause it seems a whole bunch of people didn't understand my initial post. I'm on Central time. And at 7:00, I'm on my way to direct middle schoolers off their buses and into the building for breakfast. Some of them have already been on a hot bus for over an hour, and can't wait on the two minutes it took me to order.

Getting up at 2 a.m. I only inconvenienced myself. It's always been worth it.

In a typical year, I would only ever be up at 2AM for iPhone Pre-Order or someone really sick. Moving the time was a fantastic idea so far as I’m concerned. I was at work almost an hour before it was order time. Quick 2 minute job, back to work. It was just part of my day versus something that altered my day due to being tired.

As an East coast person I could not possibly disagree more. Staying up until 2 or 3am on a work night was a nightmare. Trying to wake up at 2 or 3am and be coherent enough to verify the details on my order were correct was a nightmare. Not to mention the year the servers melted down and I couldn't get my order through until 5am. I will take this new system thank you very much.

Your post title is confusing because it makes it appear you are on the West coast.

Works starts at 8 am and that’s when ordering started. Work out prefect for me. Zero issues. A lot better then waking up at 3am and trying to go back to sleep

All the west coast people are going to complain after having the best time for a decade.

Pardon me if I don’t get to upset that you had to get up at 5 AM for a preorder while those of us in CT did a decade at 2 AM when demand was so high that if you didn’t order by 2:10 you might wait a month after release date for your phone.
Why don't they move it up 3 hours to 8am PST. then nobody is getting up in an odd hour.

2am was worse.

7am was awesome - until I had to call in - but the time was perfect for both getting normal sleep and getting everything done before being in the office.

I mean, the Majority of Americans are definitely going to prefer this time.

Yeah, we're busy, but it's far better than 2 or 3 AM for most of us.

I hated this preorder time. I haven’t missed a launch-day delivery in years and on Friday, had my order go through at 8:07–delivery had already slipped to 9/27-10/1. I fully blame the soccer moms who were stuck in carpool drop off lines who thought, “What the hell? Let’s buy a new phone today!” for the delay. They darn sure weren’t up at 3 am in years past! Even with the massive delays and server issues, etc. of the past, I still never failed to secure a launch-day delivery.

Last year I lived in Colorado and it was 2AM for me to preorder.
This year, I moved to Hawaii and was excited I could preorder at 9 PM the night before... until they changed the time.

I still had to wake up at 2 AM to preorder. Oh well.

Better?

And why would you have stayed up until 2 to order? I always went to bed at my usual 9 p.m. and set an alarm for 1:55. Back to sleep by 2:05. No loss of sleep.

Because not all of us wake up or fall asleep easily. Instead of being in a fog and verifying the minute details are correct on a $1000+ purchase I tried staying up. Staying up or waking up at 2am and then trying to go back to sleep (not easy for everyone) was awful.

I start work at 7:30 AM on the east coast so my heart kind of broke a bit when they said 5 AM PST. But it worked out just fine. I just stepped away from my desk and ordered, was back around a minute or two. Even my coworkers were like "wow that was fast".

I'd recommend moving on to Galaxy Note 10+. Far superior.. Apple has become a technological dinosaur as far as innovation.
Uh, I love my Note 10+ and don’t hesitate to recommend it to people for whom I think it would be a welcome change, but I honestly can not co-sign on this statement. Samsung has a lot of partners and so they bake in a lot of marketing and data harvesting into the One UI, as does the entire Android environment. While much of it can be turned off or ignored, it is not for everyone.

And what does this have to do with pre order times anyway?

Getting back to the topic, I didn’t always like waking up at 3:00 am but I have to admit it was tough for my husband to pull over into a parking lot right in the middle of his commute to order his iPhone. At least he was awake and avoided his usual half-asleep blunders this time.

And when I was working in an office, 8:00 am would have been the worst time to be doing personal stuff. That used to be exactly when everything was happening at once. When I do the morning school carpool it is also a bad time. Fortunately it worked out great for me this time.

I was perfectly happy getting up for a few minutes in the middle of the night. But 5:00 is 7:00 my time, and one of the busiest times of my day. Probably worse for people on Eastern Time whose jobs start at 8:00.

As it happens, I took the day off for an entirely unrelated reason, so ordered quite happily. But I'd rather go back to midnight/2:00/3:00!

No matter what time the release is it’ll be bad for some group.
