I can't wait for the M4 chips.

Going to wait for the M3. Or the M4. Maybe the M5!

M1 MBPs are insanely fast. I can see this a worthy upgrade for those who need the RAW power.
Either way, except the economy, the war, the pandemic and the insanity of the world these days, technologically speaking (not considering the price) it's quite exciting - Apple, AMD, Nvidia and Intel.

And not to forget: electric cars, VR, ChatGPT, etc...

I don't think these M2 variants are aimed at those of us who have M1Pro/Max and need more power. They are still aimed at Intel users (hence the comparison to Intel MacBooks in the Apple Keynote video).

The M1Pro/Max MacBooks are so powerful that if you're crushing them and need more CPU/GPU horsepower, then you should be shopping M1Ultra or waiting for M2Ultra or a Mac Pro. An M2Pro/Max with 20-30% extra grunt will not make a meaningful difference to your life.

Checked the specs. The Mac Mini's have different HDMI according to configurations. Only the top tier Mac mini (with the 200GB/s bandwidth M2 Pro) supports up to 8K at 60hz or 4k at 240hz, which I assume is HDMI 2.1.

Hmm I'm running out of storage, I thought that 512GB/32GB was enough when I did by the M1Pro. I also need the Max and not Pro for the best workflow.

So for me I might upgrade to M2 Max (base) 64GB ram and 1TB storage.

I wonder if we'll see the base 14" MBP with M2 Pro and 16GB/512GB hit the $1599 price in 6 months like the M1 Pro version did.

That base 14" MBP with M1 Pro and 16GB/512GB is now $1,539.00 at Apple's refurb store and $1,689.00 for the 16GB/1TB version.

I am kind of newbie on this but does anyone know if the new Macs (those that support HDMI 2.1) have 8k codec capability? My situation is a little weird. My Sony Z9J is an 8K TV but doesn't have native 8K codec capability. I'm wondering if I hook up the new Mac with my TV and play 8K Youtube videos, will my TV display native 8K?

Logical statements like this have no place here. I think you should either ban yourself immediately or revise your statement to complain about how M series chips are too slow and too fast all at once.

I don’t recall the 14” ever dropping to $1599 in 6 months. That took a year a little before the Black Friday sale.

Wish I could get Wi-Fi 6E on my 2021 16" M1 Max.
I use a Thunderbolt 3 adapter for 5Gb AT&T Fiber but wish I could get Wi-Fi speeds as good as my M2 iPad Pro when I want to pick it up and relax away from the desk.

It took a base 9th gen iPad to end my relationship with MacBooks as I don't see myself replacing that handicapped 2018 i9 MBP that I never really loved, as those M1 and M1 Max desktops lift all the heavy work that I previously did on a MBP.
Still, insane machines.
