I think the only one who cares about Siri is Apple. Everyone else moved on to better stuff a long time ago
I don't think it's a simple as that. Yes, most that care about AI have been using other chatbots and don't care much about Siri for that. But it's the integration that matters as far as Siri. The ideal that we hopefully get is to have the integration working well AND have all the power of whatever chatbot we want working seamlessly together.

iPhone users will be able to choose which services they want to use inside Siri through a new "Extensions" option coming to the Siri and Apple Intelligence section in the Settings app.
I wonder if one of those extensions will be a Classic Siri that doesn’t integrate with any third party services. 🤔

the most important thing is: do we need to pay for chatGPT monthly subscription?

the basic free chat GPT has limit

Actually what Apple promised is that those features would be “rolling out in the coming year” in March 2025, and we still, in March 2026, have yet to see a single one of them.

Apple’s promises mean nothing anymore, let’s stop pretending they do.

ALL of Apple Intelligence has rolled out, except the new version of Siri. Maybe try using an Apple device before spouting such crap!?

Don’t say Sadie. Not a big deal.

It is not only “Sadie”, as in my past experience Siri would be triggered every time I used a French word “Si” (If). So I would be talking to somebody in French and then my English-speaking Siri would jump in out of the blue, spooking my conversation partners and embarrassing me. 😋 So I ended up turning voice activated Siri off and since then have only been using the side-button or a car steering wheel controller for it.

It’ll be interesting to see how Apple’s marketing department tries to convince Apple users that Google’s Gemini is now Apple’s AI.😛

We should all thank Google for getting Siri 2.0 up and running. 😈

It’ll be moronic to watch how people will assume ALL of Apple’s AI is Google gemini, even though up to this point everything AI on Apple devices is run by Apple’s own models. Which are in fact far ahead of any other on-device models in the industry. And Apple continues to research and develop even though they decided to use Gemini.

Apple does not and has never put the effort into running and maintaining an extreme LLM… it has never been their intention of building such a beast. Google has spent almost 200 billion in Gemini and other AI efforts, Apple, maybe 10 billion.

Apple has focused their R&DF into on-device processing. And this is where they are WAY ahead.

What a waste of time and resources.

Well, Apple are actually letting Google to do all the heavy lifting. This is smart, as Android dominates the market and Gemini is already deeply integrated into zillions of gadgets.

Since Google already pay Apple to be a default search engine on Apple’s devices, Apple will just be sending a much smaller portion of that Google money back to them.

If I would want to feel sad, it would be for ChatGPT, which pioneered the AI for the masses and are now starting to fight for existence.

Today I asked Gemini to flip a word upside down (for a baseball cap design.) Instead, it spelled the word backward. This happened three times in a row.
Can’t wait to have this thing controlling my whole phone, email etc.

Yes, but even if this comes in IOS27, it could come in 27.4, 13 months from now. And, as we have seen with other Apple AI and Siri updates, it could be later than this.
I won’t believe until I try it. You are right 27.4 or more, they need to find another name for Siri, it has a bad reputation.

I was one of the suckers who bought iPhone 16 Pro in hopes of getting good personal AI assistant. Guess where it got me? 🙂

Apple + AI = Bullcrap, unless they show it working.

As i've said before, at this point real AI Apple could do it releasing M5 Ultra with faster and bigger memory.

As with home security systems and vr headsets, Apple is way too late to the game. They’re distracted with their services profit, and will never be capable of catching up to companies with a singular focus on ai chatbots. Siri is a running joke and no one will trust it for anything. What a dumb use of their resources.

The problem is anything else by definition cannot be better than Siri because of Apple not allowing 3rd party apps to integrate with an operating system. Yeah, we have chatbots like Gemini and ChatGPT for general knowledge, simple text tasks etc. but it is far from convenience to manually put content there. You cannot ask ChatGPT to find stuff in your email until you somehow put your inbox content there.

Actually, it still is the only assistant you can easily call with a magic word who has access to the entire OS and your data.

And don’t forget their upcoming devices like the HomePad, smart glasses, etc will all rely on Siri as their main input.

And while Siri is horribly bad, in the end, they will prevail because of this unique position.
