Fanboy aside.... This was a rushed product. A lot of what seems to be an afterthought or completely disregarded. Sloppy UI elements, incongruent spacing, finicky gestures and a hit or miss facial recognition. This was definitely a “me too!” design.
Have used the phone already?
All of the things you listed could be fixed by an update…

From what current device?
I’ll be upgrading from the 7 plus. I’m with T-mobiles jump on demand program, so it lets me upgrade pretty much whenever I want with little to no cost. If I were not part of this program I’m not positive I’d upgrade at all this year. But I’m obsessed with the new gold color. It’ll be the first non black(grey) iPhone I get. The only feature on the X that interested me was the OLED. But I’m fine without it.

I'm all for constructive criticism but these are scraping the bottom of the barrel. If disliking the UI spacing and a facial recognition system that you haven't even tried, is the best take down you can do, it must be a pretty good product.

How is a sloppy UI bottom of the barrel? It’s literally the most important thing for me.... the phone itself is fugly, and the UI is rushed.

Apple has officially introduced the iPhone X, its new flagship smartphone with dozens of new features. It won't be available until November 3, but here's a preview of 50 changes and improvements coming.

iPhone X is absolutely the best iPhone Apple ever made. It will be a foundation of all incoming year iPhones. Kudos for Apple for all hard works to make it happen.

Complete nonsense, opinion masquerading as fact devoid of any empirical evidence.

Oh yeah cleary Apple has just been sitting on their butts all this time and rushed out this product. Every single one of those features could have been banged out in a single weekend. I mean come on I built my own face scanner with an Arduino and like 3 lines of code. What a cynical cash grab!
But is it as sophisticated as Apples ? Did you watch the keynote? And can you mass produce them for 100+ Million people? Sometimes it’s economic reasons.

Every iPhone Apple produces is the "best Apple ever made". Every iPhone Apple produces is the "foundation of all incoming year iPhones". What company produces a new thing that they don't believe is the best they ever made. Its quite annoying to me to hear Tim say that... along with amazing, magical, etc.. Its kind of a captain obvious comment. If it is that magical and life changing, you don't have to tell people that it is... it goes without saying. What I will say is the crowd at this keynote seemed pretty subdued about the whole thing... I didn't get the excitement that I've seen in other keynotes.

Will the X be any good... time will tell. I predict that FaceID is going to annoy the heck out of many, many buyers. They should have added FaceID and also kept TouchID... and not had the silly notch on the display. Those two things alone would have made this much better in my opinion.

There's a mistake in the article.

4. Side button: Apple lengthened the Lock button and renamed it the Side button on iPhone X. Double tap it to invoke Siri.
Double tapping invokes Apple Pay, pressing and holding for a couple seconds invokes Siri just like the old way of holding the Home button for a couple seconds.

I just purchased the w29 charger for my iPad Pro 12.9 so I'm very excited about being able to use it for the iphone x. This just confirms more so that I do want the iPhone x despite of the price! I cannot tell you how paranoid i am about accidentally plugging the w29 into my iPhone 7. I know it's gonna happen sooner or later...

Nothing to worry about. The iPhone 7 will regulate the wattage and not allow more then it needs.

Hope that glass strengthening layer is good. I'm really interested to see the drop tests. I've been wanting for years to have an iPhone without a case, but with glass on front and back, I highly doubt this year will be the year. I used my original iPhone without a case and made a small dent in the corner when it slid off my lap onto some concrete when I got out of my car and I've been mad at myself ever since, lol. TEN YEARS OF REGRET! :D

I'm thinking about getting the white version because the chrome on the sides reminds me of my original iPhone. But I don't want to cover up that beauty with a case. Unfortunately I have toddlers now, so even though I'm more careful, they sometimes get their hands on things even when I put them out of reach. They're crazy like that.

50..... (nearly) percent price increase for a new year iPhone. 699 to 999

- Retina Display & front Camera revolution of iPhone 4, increased base price ZERO dollars.
- Bigger screen revolution of iPhone 5, increased the base price ZERO dollars.
- Touch ID revolution of iPhone 5s, increased the base price ZERO dollars
- Bigger screen revolution of iPhone 6, increased the base price ZERO dollars (or 100 if you consider the Plus)
- Bigger screen and FaceID of iPhone X, increases the base price 200 or 300 dollars depending you are comparing from Plus, non-Plus versions.

So

2014: iPhone 6
2015: iPhone 6s
2016: should have released iPhone X or at least iPhone 8 design, but we got iPhone 7 a.k.a iPhone 6ss
2017: should have released iPhone X substituting iPhone 7 and nothing more, with the same pricing as iPhone 7, or maximum the Plus pricing. Instead, they release an iPhone 8 a.k.a. iPhone 6sss -with rear glass- to place what had yearly been the new iPhone at a nonsense price.

The largest iPhone display ever.
Uh, nope. The iPhone X will have a display area of approximately 12.8 square inches, while the iPhone 6 Plus, 6s Plus, 7 Plus, and 8 Plus all have a display area of approximately 13.3 square inches.

I think the upgrade will be worth it just to remove the giant "T-Mobile Wi-Fi" label that is in my iPhone status bar all the time.

I was wondering about that too. Just eyeballing it, I thought it would be a little bit smaller. Thought about looking up the numbers and doing the math but then got lazy.

I think a lot of people don't realize that the display is a little wider too, but the same UI point width, so everything should be a little bit larger. By my math, everything on the display should appear nearly 7% larger. Not a huge difference, but if it was it would look goofy. Anything is welcome! Larger text and tap targets are always a good thing.
