??????They’re referring to 50% of Mac sales coming from first time buyers — again, they would know this during the registration process — just like any manufacturer would.
That is reliable!!!!

If that is it the dat is super flawed. What happens when you boot up a new Mac for the first time.
You wrongly assume that people use a Apple ID.Can’t they just measure the percentage of people who do not already have a Mac on their Apple ID? This percentage is then classified as “new to the Mac.”
They could also conduct surveys, but in this case it may not be necessary.
They have a few ways of knowing (first time Mac users). First are those questionnaires and surveys. How do they know?
I would also think they can track if the Apple ID you sign into was ever associated with a Mac before or not.How do they know?
Just think of how many more they would have sold if they had an affordable 27 inch 5K M1 Pro iMac.
Well, if you need to launch all these applications each morning then you are using it wrong. Macs are supposed to be put to sleep at night, not to be totally turned off. Once they wake up all is already in place an ready to go.Many times a user will need to launch a few applications at the start of their day:
Mail,
Safari, Chrome or Firefox,
Word, Pages, etc etc.
Logic,
FCP
Why do we NEED to be forced through all the ADs which are splash screened dead centre?!!!
Why can the notification area be used to alert the user which app has been initialized to launch?!
The M1 Ultra is not as powerful as the M1 Max.The M1 Ultra is Apple's most powerful Apple silicon chip to date, and it is twice as powerful as the M1 Max.
I am trying to recall. It's been a while since I set up a Duo.What happens when you boot up a new Mac for the first time.
Sorry, what have you been smoking recently? 2 x M1 Max = M1 Ultra! The M1 Ultra is not as powerful as the M1 Max.
For any company that’s been selling to the same market for 45 years to still sells to 50% new customers is impressive. Im the tech industry, it’s unheard of.Not really surprising, Apple definitely has the strongest Mac lineup we've seen in many years.
But there are fully functioning Windows VMs on Mac - even with ARM native Office. They run very well.Great news. The more people that use Macs, the more software companies will jump on board with AS native versions. And the more MS will have a rocket up its butt to get Windows, and all its other software working slick on ARM. I really look forward to full functioning Windows VM's on AS Mac, as it is the one major impediment for a lot of users.
Tim looks into his tea leavesHow do they know?
How do they know?
You could have an AppleID from your iPhone and never used a Mac before!New Macs need activation.
Activation needs an Apple ID.
If you need to create an Apple ID you are a new Apple user.
That would be my guess.
And if its function without form - a pc:There's a word for form without function: sculpture.
Sure, a nice form is nice, and it's good to have sweated the details. But not if it's at the expense of user power -- as was the case with the cylinder Mac and the utter trainwreck of the 2016-era laptops.
You could have an AppleID from your iPhone and never used a Mac before!
You could have used Macs before and decided to use your AppleID on a Mac for the first time.
I said it, I repeat it, whatever way they got that 50% number is flawed!
