Thanks MxDaviD. Is that the cable that ships with the monitor? I just bought one based on your success story.Hello Guys,
Happy to report that U4025QW original Thunderbolt 4 cable also works at 120HZ.
Weird. Anyhow it should be noted that maximum cable length for Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4 is 2 metres.I’m having the same problems. Previously used a M1 Pro MacBook Pro on a 5k MSI 34 ultra wide with proper scaling.
I bought an m4 Mac mini and the highDPI isn't there as with many in this thread… tried with thunderbolt 4 cable and the same.
However I already happened to have had the UGREEN 8k cable mentioned in this thread and it doesn’t work for me. It is 3 meters so wonder if that has anything to do with it.
Only thing that works is BetterDisplay virtual screen creation and mirroring it, although I gotta hope the software just works every year through every update…
I have the exact same results and am using the virtual screen workaround (not ideal) for my LG 5k2k.I’m having the same problems. Previously used a M1 Pro MacBook Pro on a 5k MSI 34 ultra wide with proper scaling.

the difference in monitor models seems to be the only logical explanation from what I gatheredJust some food for thought: Could the reason be the monitor, not the cable? The Dell is explicitly rated to be Mac compatible and has DCS. Could that be a reason?
It really shouldn't matter. Even my 7-core GPU M1 Air can run my LG 5K2K at its native resolution (with HDR). All the scaling happens on the mac, AFAIK. The LG is marketed to mac users too, comes with software for macOS, etc.Just some food for thought: Could the reason be the monitor, not the cable? Thanks to @MxDaviD for saving me all the times and troubles! Just received my dell u4025qw and pair with Mac mini m4 based model. plugged in the ugreen 8k cable worked out of box like a magic! comparing it to the text/clarity on studio display that I saw in the store the other day. I am glad I spent the money on this monitor!
first time Mac user and finally switched from my windows machine for maybe almost 20 years....
Not yet, I'll receive it tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.@maksakal have you received your UGREEN yet ?

In my eye, I couldn’t see much different between dell u4025qw and studio display. Maybe the studio display is slightly better/sharper. But note that I’m not a professional video/photo editing person. I use this dell monitor for my work productivity, convenience of ports, kvm switch, light gaming, general daily personal use AND with high resolution at 120hz. I think this monitor has no competition at this points that I could compare to. Especially I’m coming from a 34inch 1440p 144hz ultra wide. This monitor is perfect for my upgrade to switch to whole Mac and Apple ecosystem.when you mentioned "comparing it to the text/clarity on studio display", do you mind to elaborate more please? I am really considering this display option too for my near future M4 Max purchase coming from a M1 Max.
I am also considering Pro XDR, but this is like a 5 year old monitor, not sure whether is worth buying at this time, and it doesn't have 120Hz.
Ive heard the only downside of the u4025qw is its response time. The reason I've started this thread is because I had that monitor in mind and moreover given the success of that monitor. LG and Samsung product roadmaps have shown that they are going to come out with a host of new 5K2K monitors which would likely be OLED in less than two months. In my eye, I couldn’t see much different between dell u4025qw and studio display. If Apple comes out with a high refresh rate , high resolution studio display that is greater than 32-40 inch, I will go with Apple at maybe price tag of $2,000-$2,500 given the quality and reputation of brand. I usually buy and keep a product for a long time. But again studio display is only 27inch which it will never be an option for me at this point.
Alright! Not yet, I'll receive it tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.
I ordered the shortest(3.3ft). Shorter is better.Alright!
I think it's quite alarming that a trend here is that people have gotten it to work with the dell and not with the LG. I am not sure why that is. I hope you haven't gone for a really long cable
sorry I meant to say shorter ! 😅I ordered the shortest(3.3ft). Shorter is better.
The response time is actually not too bad, especially compared to the studio display. It’s in my opinion something important for the avid gamer but for office not much of a difference, especially since Black to Black times are quite low with the Dell anyways (3-5 MS I think)Ive heard the only downside of the u4025qw is its response time. do you think the UI looks small or difficult to read when you use it?In my eye, I couldn’t see much different between dell u4025qw and studio display. I don't think I've seen a single post on this thread on someone getting it work with the LG 5K2K models. when @maksakal tries it out tomorrow , we'll all knowI am very happy to see that people seem to get 5k@120hz working fine on the M4 Mini base model. I don't need the Pro, but would have gotten it just for the display support.
I will order one soon. Thanks for the valuable input everyone.

No, but the fact that it works with the Dell is really nice, because it shows that it can actually work. Now the details just needs to be figured out.I don't think I've seen a single post on this thread on someone getting it work with the LG 5K2K models. when @maksakal tries it out tomorrow , we'll all know
