Beta 4 installed on my AW5 and we'll see how it does. Since last week on Beta 3 (all the betas of 6.1 actually) battery life has been great, and that's including tracking workouts and with Always On display set to ON. I'm not sure why some people here are getting such horrible battery life. I can easily go over a day and a half on a charge.

B3 was the only bad one for me. So far 45 mins in and 0% lost on B4. Early days I know :)

I just wish they'd release it properly. I'm not keen on beta software but am really looking forward to this going live.

WatchOS 5.1 and 4.1 both came out about six weeks after the respective .0 releases.

So they may be roughly on track for a similar schedule at this point.

So far today I've had the best battery use ever, running 6.1 beta 4 on an AW5 with always on set to ON. After 7 hours of use I'm only down 17% which is about 2.4%/hr.

I've not heard this before. What does the a mean.

The build name in their betas is a combination of numbers and a final letter. An “a” letter close to the numbers usually means a public release is imminent. g f d c b...a

WatchOS 6.1 Beta 4 Build: 17S5076a

I’m on beta 4 and I’ve had my worst battery life ever. 10 hours and have 35% remaining.

Update on beta 4.

For the first 2-3 days I was getting horrendous battery life compared to B3 (about 12 hours compared to 25 or so). Yesterday I used the watch as normal (1 hour GPS dog walk on LTE, 30 min work out and general time checks/siri) and after 25 hours I had 27% remaining :)

AOD on
Raise to Wake off
Noise off
Background refresh for most used apps on. AW S5 44mm

Which watch face...i don’t think which face you use matters but be interested if you think differently.

I'll reply to you my use case for the above post. I use infograph with the following complications: World time, Activity, Carrot Weather, Rain %, Battery, workout, mail, date. Once I have filled my rings I go to California with just the date on it.

Beta 5 out now Build 17S5083a (B4 was 17S5076a).

I'll wait for the update as I just re-paired my watch yesterday and it is now on 80% after 11 hours standby and over an hour and a held of workouts! :)

Apple Watch Series 3 42mm better than public release. Just upgraded to beta 5 12 hours ago. 2+ days with or without workout. Everything but background app refresh enabled.

So after unpair and re-pair yesterday, restarted both AW and iPhone seeing a drop of 30% in the first 6 hours I was disappointed. Then I tweaked a few things by more or less turning off Siri (background refresh and noise already off). since then I am now at 22 hours and 28% remaining. I highly recommend turning off all Siri except pushing the crown. I never use Siri anyway, we have complicated relationship, she doesn’t listen well. 😁

You shouldn't have to disable all ...
I have less than 3%/hour drain with my S5 44mm LTE with all ON
I agree with you. We are currently on the general release, 6.0.1. I have the 44mm series 5, my wife had the 40. I’m not currently having any battery issues with pretty much everything enabled. Not as good as my series 3 before watchOS 6 but good enough for one day with no worries. My wife finally had enough and we returned the 40 to an Apple Store and got the 44 for her. Battery life on the smaller versions have always been inferior but this was really bad. She could barely make it through one day, maybe down to 10-13% after 13-14 hours on a good day. Any more than that and it went dead. No way would it go to the claimed 18 hours. We were hoping to wait for 6.1 to be released since many have claimed it makes a noticeable improvement but not knowing when that‘s coming we just decided today to return the thing And get the 44. Only had a week to go on the return window even though they probably would have accommodated us outside the 14 days. Only $53 more for far better battery life and more legibility is well worth it.
