RAM is actually part of the A8 processor... It's not a part that you can just switch. If the iPhone 6+ has the A8 then it has got 1GB of ram just as the iPhone 6.

It's part of the SoC, but there's nothing that prevents Apple from having two variants made. They did the same thing back in the A4 days -- iPhone 4 had 512MB, iPad and iPod touch 4G had 256MB

I'm no expert but my thinking has been if the iPad Air which has a much larger screen was given only 1gb RAM, why would they be compelled to give the 6+ 2gb's...? Guess we will all find out soon. I'm hoping both models get the bump.

On another note, I'll take Apples RGB accurate LCD display over the Samsung over saturated AMOLED junk any day of the week.

Actually I've had a few different Samsung phones back in the day with the AMOLED display and I have to say they are quite nice. The blacks were really great.

Of course I don't particularly give much of a crap either way though, I don't care if they were absolutely the best screens out there... I will not own another Android device unless it's made by Apple and runs iOS lol

If you aren't a 13 year old girl, you sure talk like one.

.....and unless I've missed something, who is to say there will be a RAM difference vs the regular 6 to begin with? What if they both have 2gb? Then will you be "jelly" that your extra RAM will go to powering a display you can hardly hold, while the 6 uses it for extra processing power?

You sound mad as hell, dude :D

I really don't expect the iPhone 6+ to have 2GB but if it does, checkmate. Can't wait to have mine Friday!

Because the plus is the next generation of device. The iPad Air is almost a year old.

Well if that's the case then it puts a lot of speculation to bed. The thing I'm noticing is "Phablet." Is this seriously a term being thrown around. Did someone just coin this or is this a term that's flown over my head? Yikes...

It's been used since around the Galaxy Note days as far as I know which was like 2011-2012 or something.

Exactly, if the iPad Air and previous generations handled just fine with 1gb RAM why people expect the new iPhones to drop with 2gb ram

Tell the people who have more than a few tabs open in Safari how fine an iPad Air works with 1GB of RAM...

Phablet was used way back in 2011 when the Galaxy Note came out. Welcome to the 'real' world.

 They sure can "fix" that without the need to bump the ram but i always forget about the safari reloads honestly i never have more than 4-6 tabs open.

I hit it occasionally and while it's certainly not a deal breaker, it is mildly annoying.

Mad? No.

I can, and do, buy whatever phone model I choose.

I do think it's funny how people are focusing so much on a RAM spec when it isn't going to matter one bit.

I guess a few sites are pretending to know the iPhone 6 Plus has 2GB RAM because it drives traffic to their site. As others have said, it's very unlikely Apple would differentiate the memory in its current flagship devices.

It actually does, opens up more for games, browsing, two apps open on screen at once (if indeed that feature Apple is working on)

The point is Apple ALWAYS puts out a product that performs. If the phone needs 2gb to run smooth, then it will have it. If it doesn't need it, then it won't.

Therefore, as I stated, it doesn't matter either way. You idiots just want something to complain about to make your boring lives seem interesting. Next week, it will be something else.

Incorrect. The A8 in the iPhone uses a package on package design. Basically the SOC sits on top of a memory chip which sits on top of the PCB. During assembly, the manufacturer just stacks the correct chips and runs them through the reflow oven.

So people are idiots for debating (not complaining) if something has 2gb of ram of not? You just lost any credibility you had attacking people for no reason over the Internet.

More RAM = more capability. What about multi-tasking? Have any clue which system resource that would rely most heavily on? I'll give you a hint; it starts with "R" and rhymes with spam.

Apple can't ignore upgrading RAM forever. Having only 1GB for the 3rd iteration really makes the devices seem obsolete out of the gate. I feel like Apple is just being stubborn and greedy maximizing profit margins and saving internal spec upgrades for next year's "S" models.

That's exactly right. Problem on these forums is too many Apple fanboys who will defend Apple like there some kind of family member.

Then some people get involved in spec debates without being educated about it. You can have some great debates on these forums, just a few who let it down with verbal attacks. Soon find out if it has 2 or 1.
