The case looks and feels very good even though I don't have a phone to put in it yet. I've had an otter box on every iPhone I've owned and this looks like the best yet. The inner shell snaps together easily and the outer rubber cover fits perfectly and will not come off or stretch easily. It fits great in the holster and the belt clip is solid. I also want to push out the plastic screen protector and use glass, I don't see where there will be any problems. The glue looks to be a little better but nothing a little goo gone won't fix. Here's some pic hope they help.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Wonderful shots! Is this for a 6 or a PLUS? How is the overall "feel"?

Thanks!!!

It's for the 6 plus. I have an ip5 in an otterbox right now and I like the look and feel better. It feels very seemless almost like it's part of the phone itself. I just wish I had my phone to put in it, can't wait!

So the build quality changed for the better from the 5? That's impressive as it was already very well built.

Can anyone confirm that you can remove the plastic membrain on the 6+ case and still use a glass screen protector? I'm getting tired of waiting on LP and not even sure if they will have a belt clip, they won't say as of now. I like all other aspects of the Defender though.

I removed Otterbox's built in screen protector almost immediately. It didn't sit quite flush, probably because I already had a screen protector installed. I usually dislike their protectors. It was a bit of a pain to remove it, but it was worth it. My screen protector wasn't glass though, but I'd imagine it'd work for you.

Was it as easy to remove as previous versions?

It wasn't quite as easy, no. It wasn't bad though. It may require a little more cleaning afterwards. Everything seems a little more sturdy, sticky.

I would still recommend removing it and using your own protector underneath. I hate the feel of the hard plastic screen protector.

It's like the perfect case now, to me, anyway.

Only other thing you may want to consider is the lightning jack cover is fairly slim and 3rd party cables may have problems. The Amazon lightning cable barely barely fits.

You're not the first person to mention this. I would err on the side of caution and not buy third party cables if you're going to use the Otterbox, it's a common problem.

UPDATE ON AVAILABILITY:

If you wanted the gunmetal grey slip cover and waited, they're currently sold out. I'm sure more will come soon. Black & White Shell still available, black slip available.

How well does the defender work with the touch id? i've used this case in the past for my previous phones and have always been happy. i've never had a version with the touch id though - so it was never a factor.

I like the lifeproof a lot too - have that for my mini. not crazy about the nuud only for the 6+ - all the other protections are great, but lack of scratch protection has me leaning towards the otterbox.

any thoughts?

Lifeproof NUUD vs. Otterbox Defender | Who will come out first?

How well does the defender work with the touch id?

My wife has the defender for her 5S and it picks up our fingers prints no problem. HOWEVER!!! I never use the provided screen protector for the Defender. I always cut it off with a razor blade and use Goof Off to get any residue off the case. I end up using the ZAGG HD Invisible Shield to protect my screen.

Screen protection aside, since I'll always use the ZAGG HD, what do you think of the NUUD? I think at this point, for me, I'll buy whichever of the two comes out first. Obviously I could get a black on black Otterbox today if I wanted to, but if I'm going to spend $70 for a case, I want it to be the colors I prefer, not the colors I'm forced into buying.

Anyone have a "real world" size comparison between the Lifeprood NUUD and the Otterbox Defender? The only reason I'm even considering the NUUD is because I've been told Lifeproof is less bulky. However, through further research, it might be the Lifeproof Fré model that is slimmer, where as the NUUD may be no different than the Defender at all. Anyone know?

Thanks for the info. From my experience, the Lifeproof is indeed less bulk, and offers great protection. I've been really pleased with the one I have for my iPad mini. Others I've spoken with that use the Nuud are quite happy with it as well.

Since they are only offering the Nuud for the 6+, it sounds like my best plan might be to go with the Lifeproof and add in the Zagg screen protector.

Mine is being delivered tomorrow. Very excited to give it a shot. Going to cut the existing screen protector out and keep my tech armor in there.

Just keep in mind! Lifeproof does NOT guarantee full waterproofing protection if you're using a screen protector with the NUUD. HOWEVER, if you're not planning on swimming with your phone, you should be fine!!!

absolutely :)

I had ordered and received my otterbox defender before I even attempted to get my 6plus. I found my silver 128 at an Apple Store in Tampa last night put it in the case and immediately hated the plastic screen cover due to lack of sensitivity. When I got home I popped out the screen protector, it took a little solvent ( charcoal lighter fluid) to get all the glue off, washed it with soap and water and now it's clean as could be. Went to Best buy got Zagg glass and it's a perfect fit. Never had a glass protector before and I must say it's the best screen protector I've ever used. Awesome! Otterbox is great too.

I see you have an eye for quality with that LIBERTY safe in the background. This makes your review all the more qualified. ;)

Quick question. Now that you've got an Otterbox on the phone, does it make it MORE easy to use with one hand, or LESS easy to use with one hand.

I've found that using the phone with one hand is "precarious" if I'm trying to use the keyboard because it's so top heavy. Thoughts?

Back in Stock

Two Things:

  1. Grey Slip and White Shell are back in stock
  2. Just got off the phone with Otter... She said could be 1 - 3 weeks for the other colors to release

With this information... I'm tempted at doing black slip with white shell... Not really what I wanted, but I may not have the choice. :(

Aaaaaand the white shell is already sold.... Again!

Thanks, I think it is easier and noticeably better with the case due added grip and balance but it's also a mental thing for me being confident that my investment is protected. This is still only my second day with this phone so I'm sure it will get even easier as time goes on. Another thing is I knew what I wanted in the bigger phone and the advantages far outweigh any problems that I may have to adapt to. Love this big phone!

I have very very slight buyers remorse, because sometimes I feel like it's uncomfortable to handle with one hand... or I think about what I'll do in the summer when I don't have my jacket to house it in. But, at the end of the day, I am very happy with my decision to get the larger model. Now I just need for Otterbox to release this damn teal shell!!!

Looks good. This is my first phone w/ a glass screen protector too (always used an Otterbox Defender or Armor in the past), love it. I decided to go with the Symmetry this time around, it's coming on Friday. Seems like a little less bulk (which I've gotten used to with the Spigen Tough Armor I'm using now), glowing reviews, and I actually prefer not having port covers (easier to charge). Plus I like that there's no cutout for the logo on the back.

Can you re-confirm you have a glass screen protector with the defender on? I removed Otterbox's built-in screen protector like you did, and am using a regular screen protector underneath, but I'd prefer to go the glass protector route, but wasn't sure if the glass might be "too thick" to put the defender back on etc.

He'll have to confirm, but from my experience the glass protectors are only .1mm. Shouldn't be an issue.
