Are people still having issues where the membrane for the TouchID is still leaving marks on the iPhone's screen?

Where as I'm sure that material hasn't changed, I take any membranes and screen protectors off the case and use my own.

I did watch a video online however where that "damage" was able to be removed with a glass cleaner. Cannot confirm this with my own experience however.

I'm honestly getting to the point where if the black slip and the white shell are available at the same time, I'll probably buy that combo... Starting to get impatient. The cynic in my is really thinking Otterbox may have done this purposely to get people to buy multiple cases for different colors...

Reeaaally trying to hold out... Think my deadline will be Friday the 21st since I have to get my 4S back to Verizon by the first of December for my refund.

Just a quick aside, used the case all day yesterday as we were in NYC for the day. I am not a belt clip guy, so it was in and out of my picket all day. No issues at all, I kept it in my pocket with my wallet without any issues. Marty pleased and this is most definitely my new daily driver.

Sorry if I'm out of the subject but I simply don't understand people buying such a gorgeous phone and slapping the ugliest case I've ever seen on it. That otterbox makes the phone look like a brick :\.

I love the look of the phone and it's feel. However I work in and out of kitchens and pool pump rooms. I take my phone out for pictures and reach behind equipment where it could slip out of my hand. The last thing I need is a busted up phone. Most of the time it wouldn't need a case but I am not play the in and out game.

As you said it's each persons opinion. I respect yours like you respect everyone elses.

Got my Defender for the iPhone 6 Plus on Friday.

The look and feel is amazing, thinner than the one I had for my 4S.

Yes, there was some stiffness on the volume buttons, but that seemed to remedy itself after a couple of hours.

The screen protector is indeed an issue, it's not flush with the screen. I'm going back and forth on the cutting the plastic out and putting on a Zagg.

I'm 6'5. What does your hand measure from pinkie tip to thumb tip when stretched out?

I'm a tad taller than you, and I can use it one-handed. I find putting my index finger in the back hole of the Defender gives slightly additional better feel and stability.

Aren't you all concerned about dust/dirt getting into the case easier with the screen protector off?

I had my 6 I a screen less defender with the Zagg glass installed.
The case for the 6 is thick and started to wear in me.
Yesterday a much thinner case was purchased. Upon removal of the defender there was quite a bit of dust and lint.
It cleaned right up and the phone looked like new.

I took it out right away and it's great. Absolutely love the case and haven't taken it off since I got it. Much thinner than the 5 version

I was thinking about getting one of these for my wife's Plus while patiently waiting for the Lifeproof Nuud, but I didn't realize the Defender was sort of hard to get a hold of. I'm just hoping that my wife doesn't have her normal bad luck with the 6+ until after I've got it Lifeproofed...

Seeing as the OP brought up Lifeproof, I figured it'd be ok to talk a little more about them.

I personally haven't been a fan of the Otterbox cases I've used in the past on other phones, but they do protect. Lifeproof takes it one step further and protects from liquid and dust. My main gripe (besides aesthetics) of the Defender series is that they seem to be a magnet for dust and debris under the built in screen protector. Many people have resorted to cutting it off as mentioned previously.

It'll be interesting to see what changes occur now that Otterbox owns Lifeproof now... I've noticed that the Lifeproof website doesn't advertise their Total Water Protection Program (one year waterproof warranty) as much as it used to. They now seem to focus on the 4 Proofs while sideskirting warranty coverage. Not sure if this is just a website flaw or if they're trying to move away from that type of warranty.

I've used both the Fre and the Nuud on 5S and Galaxy devices. Very nice cases, but definitely prefer the Nuud. If it sticks to the same pricepoint as the previous ones ($99) they really are the best choice, as they're only $30 more than a non-waterproof Defender that is the same size or bulkier (depending on the Nuud design for the 6/+).

First of all, I'm beyond happy that two people now have mentioned the thickness of this new Defender. I was "concerned" that they would be just as thick as the one I'm typing on now (4S) but am "relieved" to hear they're skinnier.

As for Lifeproof, I've decided to just patiently wait for the teal she'll with black slip to be made available. It's the one that really caught my eye and considering I keep my phones for an average of three years, I want to be happy with my purchase.

Overall, I do believe both the NUUD and the Defender are the two top tier choices for this style of case.

It is much thinner than expected. I have used it on the 4 and 5s and those were very thick. What convinced me was when I had it on the note 3 and it was relatively thin.

Do you guys know which otterbox is the most protective after the defender? Is it the symmetry or the commuter?

From the video reviews I've seen I believe it's the Commuter, it still has the plastic screen protector and covers over the ports. Not sure how thick it is in comparison to the Symmetry though.

Also, from the reviews I've seen people strongly prefer the Symmetry over any other OB case. Might want to check out some YouTube videos if you're unsure.

If you're not going Defender, I would personally recommend the Symmetry.

Totally a personal opinion, but I always rock the Defender. My sister is a HUGE Symmetry fan, and she's tough on her devices.

Symmetry is what I went with this time, got it last Friday. It's a nice case, for sure, but it feels a little slippery. Still not 100% sure I'm going to stick with it.

The Spigen Tough Armor I had been using felt more protective IMO. I also really miss the kickstand. I like the Symmetry because it's all black and has no cutout for the logo. They Symmetry definitely looks better, just less functional (for how I use it).

Just a heads up, the gunmetal grey slip cover and white shell have been steadily available now for a good couple of days. Either this color isn't very popular or they're a few sales away from being sold out if they follow the trend.

Change of heart

After all this time waiting, I think I've changed my mind and decided to do a black slip with a white shell as opposed to teal. Had I known this a week ago, I would have already had it in hand... but now I've gotta wait for the black slip to become available. Since I've been looking at the site several times a day for a couple weeks now, I just found myself enjoying the black/white/black as opposed to the black/teal/black look.

Hopefully the black slip comes back in stock while the white shell is still available... That would be my luck :D

Cases available!

Get'em while they're hot! Black slips and shells are available this morning! I just ordered my Black slip with white shell! I'm sure they're going fast!!!

Arghh!!! According to my tracking information I should get my case tomorrow, but it's already at the sorting facility less than 20 minutes from my house.

The wait is killing me...

I ended up returning the case. It was a little too creeky on the sides for me. I would have expected a little bit more from OB about this.

I also compared the overall thickness to some of my other cases, and was stunned at how enormous the case actually is.

I am currently using the Candyshell Grip and the NGP and really like both. For me, I realized I dont need the kind of protection the defender offers and it doesnt fit my job

What do you mean creeky you?

Also, what's the NGP?

I could squeeze my hand around the case and it "creeked". It was like an old stair case. I didnt like that for a new case.

The NGP is by Incipio. ON amazon for $15. Entirely different than OB, but I like it

Cool! Thanks for your feedback and alternate case suggestions.
