I have 5 HomePods mini…. Recently Two of them failed around the same time. That’s weird, but I think the touch screen is not working. Some people was cleaning it and then the HomePod was functional again, that’s not my case. I hope Apple can fix this issue ( I’m not sure how many people are affected). Response from Apple: get a new one if the one that you have is out of warranty.
Same thing happened to my HomePod Mini about 6 weeks ago. Tried a few troubleshooting suggestions and gave up. It’s been sitting unplugged for the last month or so.
Fast forward to this week and I wanted to try to get it set up again and it will not get past the spinning red, three-beep boot up. I’ve tried using my MacBook Pro to update the software and factory restore. I’ve tried the alcohol wipes and a microfiber cloth to clean the touch-top button. I’ve tried banging on the top of it as some people suggested. Nothing. People are calling it the “red-ring of death”.
I’m just trying to decide if I should buy another original HomePod mini (that I can most likely get for comparatively less money) or wait for v2.
