Abso-freakin'-lutely, my friend.

That is a feature that would really come in handy for me. I have lost count of how many 2-CD sets I’ve ripped into iTunes, and then have to create a separate playlist for each disc. It would be great from an organization point of view to be bale to create a playlist/folder just for the set, then have “CD 1” and “CD 2” sub-folders/playlists nested within that one. Same with albums from the same artist. Although I of course want a playlist for each album, it would be nice if I could group all 12 of my Tower of Power albums, just as a example, into a “Tower of Power” playlist/folder and have each album listed within that. Basically it would be nice simply from an organizing and aesthetics points of view if nothing else...

But for photos, it definitely makes sense. I would love to be able to have nested albums. That way, instead of having 700 pictures in an "Eastern Europe Backpacking Adventure” album, I could have separate nested albums within that main album, dividing up the pictures nicely into “Austria”, “Czech Republic”, “Poland”, “Slovakia”, “Hungary”, etc. etc. so I can organize and find things better.

Ah well, hopefully in iPhoto 5!

Now back on topic.... ;)

You have a playlist for each album? You know you can just click Browse and then select (or multiple select using the shift or command keys) whichever albums or artists you want and then they display in the main window?

I'd say nested albums would be much more useful in iPhoto than iTunes, as you say. I could group holidays together or nights out, for example. It would be nice if you could rearrange the playlist order in iTunes too.

Yah, I have a lot of playlists - just my way of organizing. And yah, I know iTunes has that great browsing capability, and I do use it a LOT, but as I said, it’s more of a personal thing from an organizing point of view. iPhoto would definitely benefit more from nested albums than iTunes with nested playlists though, I agree.

Here's my 'sell' on nesting in iTunes: I repeatedly make CDs for my brother, my best friend, my wife, my parents, and my brother-in-law. Would be great if I could make 'parent' folders for each of them and file each particular playlist within that parent folder. Would save some serious clutter.

As it stands now, I end up exporting the older playlists to XML or Text files just to get 'em outta my way.

YES! this is what I want as well. I don't see it being hard to add either, it could work sort of like how sharing does.

is anyone forgeting that apple stopped selling the ipod dock? I mean think about it. the dock can be set next to the tv plugged into the tv and charged on a another outlet. videos can only be played once connected to the dock. photos can be viewed with out it so you can show them off at work.

and this will not be released until after tiger is released so that it uses H.264. it doesnt seem to hard to me.
heh, it would be just a BIT hard to get a processor fast enough in an ipod to be able to decode H.264 format videos in real time. i'm not sure about the actual requirements, but i'm guessing that it would take a 600mhz g3 spec processor to decode like 640x480 H.264 videos. it would be cool though :) lol apple could try out intel's 624MHz pocket pc processor
also, if the ipod supported video/pictures:
everyone is complaining that you don't want to watch video on the 2" screen, but u want to use the TV out. alright, but the video files are going to be much bigger if you want any sort of good quality. add music, tv shows (imagine having all of your favorite seinfeid episodes on your ipod and when you went to a friend's house you have them all with you :))photos, etc. and your 60gb ipod will fill up pretty fast.
anyway, i just want ANY kind of update to itunes/ipod, something major. like airtunes on ipod, or photo viewing.
