who cares

given a choice between extra hard space or plower price, am glad that lower price is what happened.

My buying decision at the moment is hugely depndent on price, so for me I am getting 40gig for what was expectd that the 30 gigs were gonna cost.

and I find it really depressing that even with the new release, people are still looking at the next next gen. this reminds me of the shades of hysteria we are getting over g5 pb

Hey! That's me you are talking about.

I got 41+ gigs of music and it's growing. I need a bigger iPod and I got the money. That's the American way and that's what makes Apple stronger. :)

Yeah maybe a lot of people don't have more than 40 gigs of music but for those who do, maybe Apple could offer a 60gig model as an optional upgrade at time of purchase. Kinda like when you buy a laptop. It's better to decide there and then if you want more ram, DVD burner etc.. than try and put those things in 2 months after you've bought it.

60gigs may or may not be coming, and also be aware that somewhere on the horizon there might be an 80gig model. After that, maybe even 100gigs. By 2010 a terraflop (whatever that is?). Things get bigger, cheaper, faster etc.. it all depends how long you want to wait for something.

A Teraflop (only one "r") is 1000 Gigaflops, but I don't believe this is the term you are looking for. "Flops" is short for "floating-point operations per second", and is a measurement for rating the speed of microprocessors. I believe what you are looking for is "Terabyte", referring to 1000 Gigabytes of storage space.

And incidentally, I'm sure by 2010 we'll be far past Terabytes and into Exabytes.

Well the 60 GB Model is not NEXT Gen. Just bigger this gen.

Well the 60 GB Model is not NEXT Gen. Just bigger this gen. Apple ordered the 60's a long time ago. We just have to wait for them to join the production line when Apple will then announce them as available. I need more than 60 so I'll be happy to get one as soon as they ship if I can find the money to follow through.
