Managed to play around and install the 11.6 drivers on my 2011 iMac, as a result I have been able to overclock the 6750m quite significantly.

I have it running stable @ 850/1000 with a voltage of 1.055v and with all three iMac fans running at full speed a temperature no higher than 40c after hours of heavy use.

GTA IV runs full HD 1080p at 56fps

Crysis 2 around 37fps

I think it's possible to oc this even more just a little curious about higher the voltage even further

Nice, thats reaching the ceiling for these chips. It doesn't seem to be stable past 880 no matter how many volts given. But 850 is a huge improvement over stock speeds.

Some games (like Final Fantasy XIV) pushes the temps up to mid 90s C for the GPU. I'm OC it @ 810/950 with .955 v. I'm not sure if this is safe as i don't want to fry my machine :(

Most other games i have runs around low 80 C. Can anyone advice on how dangerous these temps are? Thanks.

Hi all,

Just a quick question. Did anyone try to run Battlefield 3, in the alpha testing, on their hi-end Macbook Pros. I'm not sure yet if i should pre-order the game on xbox or for pc. Would love to know some Fps stats if anyone managed to run it.

Cheers all

I did 750/950 and 800/900 at .955 and both times in Starcraft 2, the screen went black and white with fragments and then the computer blue screens.

Am I doing something wrong? I've never overclocked anything and I didn't want to try the overvolting, so I just followed what I saw on the guide for .995 and it doesn't seem it works for me. I have a 2011 15 inch Macbook Pro 2.3Ghz and 8GB RAM.

Try 750/950 at 1.000v (default), if it works fine then keep lowering the volt till it doesn't crash. e.g. 0.98..0.97...0.96 etc...

Ok, the games will open if I set up profiles, but the AMD/ATI video drivers crash every time any game is opened. So basically traded one error for another.

You're pushing the GPU beyond what it was designed to do so it's not surprising that it doesn't perform. Overclocking ability, especially with undervolting, varies from chip to chip.

So is this safe or not worth using this is my first time overclocking and i dont want my computer frying and getting screwed :(

and which one of the set ups runs cooler the 800/900 or 750/950 in comparison to speed

2011 macbook pro witcher 2 setings

installed Wither 2 with latest 2.0 patch. have 15" 2.3GHz with 8GB RAM.

OC to 800/950. trying high setting with some stuff turned off, still lagy, choppy at 1680x1050

what settings do you use ? i use external monitor with native 1920x1200, when i use lower resolution, the game is not full screen. any fix for that ?

ps: these games have excellent graphics, it kills me to turn it down. might need to get a gaming rig.

Successful 800/900 @ 0.955V

Windows Experience Before:
Processor 7.5
RAM 5.9
Graphics 6.9
Gaming Graphics 6.9
Primary HDD 5.9

Windows Experience After:
Processor 7.5
RAM 5.9
Graphics 7.0
Gaming Graphics 7.0

Primary HDD 5.9

Half-Life 2: Lost Cost Benchmark (1920x1080, max settings):
Before: 114.48 FPS
After: 122.28 FPS

So not a huge change, but not bad none the less. Thanks for the guide Necriss!

I Am interested in flashing the firmware of my 6750m to that off a 6770m. That or making a custom one. This way faster clock speeds can be seen in os x too. Is anyone with experience in this matter able to offer me any advice? Thanks!

I'm interested too. This is the BIG QUESTION after new macbook pro line release-

my research has led me to believe that the two cards are the same hardware. I think its only a case of getting hold of the firmware from a new macbook pro.

Can anyone help me uninstall the bootcamp ATI drivers? Since, my battlefield 3 keeps crashing with the new ATI drivers and the bootcamp one.

Figured it out. Just download the CCC and let it start the install...it'll crash eventually but it puts the folder at C:/ATI. In there are the drivers. From there go to device manager, find the display then upgrade the driver manually by pointing it to that folder!

can someone with a new mbp please use GPU-Z to extract the bios of their 6770m and post it up?

Would be a great help! :apple:

I think its not possible to simply extract the BIOS, is it ? When i try to do this with GPU-Z and my 6750M, it states that BIOS reading isnt supported.

I would be most interested to turn my 6750 into a 6770 however :D
Aside from increased clocks in MacOS X, would there be any other benefit ? Maybe the overclocking limit of Afterburner is changed a bit ?

ah I wasnt aware that you can't extract the 6750m in gpu-z (I dont have a windows partition atm so havent tried)

Im mainly interested in increased clocks in os x as I am not really that interested in windows gaming at the moment, and os x has no equivalent of afterburner that I am aware of.
