This wasn't directed at you, Zf; if you hadn't posted the videos, I wouldn't have got to see them - I didn't have a chance to log on before Arn's C&D had already been actioned, so many thanks for leaving them up until the chopper dropped. My comments were about the content of the videos themselves: mildly interesting, but nothing to get into a lather about. :)
No no no. That wasn't directed at you at all. It was going to the other people attacking me for not posting something I don't want to.

Ok, now I'm out unless there is some substantial misunderstanding.

You're free to come and go, but please don't pout! Pouting is just so... unseemly.

And yes, there is a substantial misunderstanding. You are not being attacked for not posting something you don't want to because frankly, you're not really being attacked. If you increase your sense of humor levels, you will realize this. Arguably, I suppose this then becomes an attack on your sense of humor, but that would also qualify under "substantial misunderstanding." To the extent that you are being attacked, you are being attacked for not having a sense of humor about all of this, not for what you choose to post. As I said before, there's good judgment involved in your decision, although if you were a little more aware of your rights, you likely would be more willing if not falling-over-yourself eager to discuss your experience.

Oh yeah, there was that comment I made about malodorous vapors seeping uncontrollably from your mouth. I suppose that might be considered an attack. If its any consolation, I do not, personally, consider rancid breath a character flaw, and apologize for that remark. However, I cannot apologize on behalf of Apple's Legal Department which, as disclosed in the letter posted above, also made reference to it among their complaints.

Is there anyway of seeing the pictures and videos still I missed them because was away.

Apple Store is down.
It's not down, it's just a little depressed at the way the stock market went today. Hopefully it will cheer up after Apple announces Q3 Financial Results tomorrow. :)

frankly, the whole hubbub about the videos is more interesting than the videos themselves. Nothing really all that Earth shattering in them, just a few candy-coated split-screen UI pictures that you'd completely take for granted one day after owning an iPod that featured them.

We're just curious to see what level of sewer Apple will sink to in order to clam you up so thoroughly, call it human nature wanting to see the dreg. If you were clever you'd PM the substance of the email to someone and have them "Carnac" the substance in a "joke" posting. Apple can't sue you for someone's psychic intervention of their legal sewage.

Better hope it's real, Apple needs a turn-around after stock went down 5%

That turn around will happen today, when end of quarter profits come in! All the stupid people selling their stock because of only 146,000 activations. Apple and AT&T know how many iPhones they sold, activations mean nothing. Why didn't they just release the number of TOTAL activations, not just the first 2 days (I know, because those 2 days only fell in that quarter). Once TOTAL numbers of activations and iPhones sold are announced, stock will be up more then that 5%.

Missed the video -- can someone describe?

I missed the video and don't have time to scroll through this whole thread to see if anyone provided all of us the service of a good description of what the visuals showed. Any good samaritans out there willing to do a good deed for the ignorant masses?

WHOOOHOOOO!

After 2 days I finally finished reading 21 pages of posts :D

I say this because I don't like to post stuff already posted by someone else, and in this situation, I have some opinions which have to be expressed:

First, the videos - One word: Meh! Those videos were probably just a sketch made by someone at Apple, easily made in Flash or even a video editing application. Nothing worth viewing IMO, for those who didn't see the video, don't be sorry, you didn't miss anything special.

Second, nano, ipod video, wtf? - IMO the new iPod will be touchscreen, why? because it plays videos, Apple's sells videos from the iTMS, the current iPod screen is small, they need to make it bigger, they NEED to remove the clickwheel, how are they going to do that?? Oh wait, that's right, they have already developed multitouch technology which is amazing, why NOT use it?
And second, because the iPod imitators are all around the corner, the Creative players, Zune and a lot of others offer control schemes just like an iPod (menu-wise), what can Apple do to leave these other mp3 players in the dust, be innovative, satisfy their customers and keep the iPod in number one position? MULTITOUCH TOUCHSCREEN!

I say "Apple TV interface on the 6g Touchscreen iPod", but no wi-fi, bluetooth and absurd suggestions I've been reading.

IMO it's the only way to go. (for the iPod, not for the Nano)

Third, the C&D's issued to MR and MF - Deal with it, if I was Arn I would have done the exact same thing.
If I have created a rumor website about a company it's because I like what that company offers and the products it makes. If they called me at 3am or sent me an e-mail asking me to remove something that could be affecting their business I'd have no problem with removing it since Apple is the reason why MR exists at all...
It's a wise decision, you try to keep good relationships in this industry and you have to pick your battles (as previously posted), this battle would be a lose-lose situation for Arn and the other sites that posted the videos.

And the suggestion of posting the C&D letter.. is ridiculous, it's meant to be confidential and anyone with a sense of ETHICS wouldn't even think of doing it.

Let's see how this ends, in August 7th (wasn't that the D-Day on Terminator 2??)

Think Secret is now saying that there will definitely be no touch-screen iPod until 2008 and that "[this] revision will feature neither a touch-screen nor will run a scaled down version of Mac OS X like the iPhone". They say to expect the new iPods in August.

Well, I won't be buying one then.

You know, Apple is really a very smart company. I am thinking of myself as their typical iPod customer. I have a Nano (which my daughter is using now) plus a 5.5G iPod. I would love to have an iPhone BUT have been holding off for several reasons. First - I still have a year and a half on a Sprint contract with four lines. Second - I was kind of hoping at some point a 3G iPhone would be released (I currently have a Moto Q with EVDO and would hate to go backwards speed wise). And third - I kept thinking if Apple released a new iPod with some of the iPhone features there would be no need for me to get an iPhone.

But if Apple comes along and releases a new iPod that is basically just an enhancement to the current iPod I will be much more likely to get an iPhone sooner than later. I've already figured out I could drop one of my lines in January plus can I cancel my Power Vision (EVDO) on another line thus "almost" saving enough to allow me to just create a new ATT iPhone account and have both Sprint and ATT for some period of time. Now if I just knew when/if a 3G iPhone might appear.

I should have known Apple isn't going to do anything to detract buyers from their flagship portable product - the iPhone this soon after it's release.

iPods sold = 100,000,000
iPhones sold = possibly around 500,000... maybe less

Countries iPod is sold in = more than 100
Countries iPhone is sold in = 1

Hmmmm, I find it hard to believe Apple's best strategy would to be release sub-par iPods in the hope of pushing people to the iPhone.

Nor will I.

In fact, I may just get a Zune in protest. What crap.

You might want to consider that Apple makes more money from the iPhone than the iPod.

You might want to consider that Apple makes more money from the iPhone than the iPod.

In the last month, and only in the USA, Apple made more from the iPhone than iPod. Given that the iPhone isn't available anywhere else just now, won't be available in Europe until December (and even then only in 4 or less European countries), and won't be available anywhere else at all until 2008 at the earliest... do you really think that the iPhone is going to bring in more money worldwide in the next year than the iPod does!?

Thinksecret is posting conflicting news. Saying there will be a fullscreen ipod.

August 7th will be interesting and hopefully not disappointing. I'm running a 3G 15GB and want a full screen/touch interface iPod.

Eh, ill probably get this anyway..

My center button on click wheel is broken, and i probably coudl get a modest credit for it

Just wondering, would Apple get all over MacRumors to give me up if I told people that I have the videos and if they want to see them they can message me (now remember, this is a hypothetical question :) )
Just wondering.....

is the video linked anywhere?

Not to sound mean, but I would bet MY LIFE that you haven't read much of this thread. Apple Legal did a C&D (Cease & Desist) order for MacRumors, YouTube and a user here who all had them on websites. Do you still think it is linked anywhere?

that is the most intelligent new poster i have seen
