BEST CASE (not very likely this soon)
Apple will release a multi-touch iPhone minus the phone. It will Have many of the PDA features just like the iPhone, but will not have any communication features (including email & Safari). Possibly Bluetooth, but no WIFI until around WWDC in 2008. Pricepoint.... I'm estimating $349 (40Gb) and $449 (100Gb). Also, remember that a big expense with phones is all the Qualcomm royalties for network communications lisensing - without that, apple would have extra cash to work with.

Isn't the Best Case Scenario that Apple releases the iPhone minus the phone, plus a few gigs of storage? That's the best case for me, since I'd buy it the day it came out.

For me, everything else is worst case.

I'm sorry, but was that directed at me?
Sorry, no it wasn't. It was directed at the poster who wanted to see the c&d order. I thought it was a little self explanatory (which he figured it out) but maybe I should have quoted him also. It was basically an answer to your reply to zeebe, again, I apologize.

So where can I see this?

You can't. You'll have to wait until the device is actually released. Personally if what we saw is the 6G iPod, I will be very disappointed. I mean really who cares anything about a World Clock or any of that other fluff. If the 6G iPod doesn't have a wide-screen video with touchscreen I will just stay with my current iPod. If it's a new Nano, then that's okay.

Can you post the email so we can see what it says!

Fortunately, Apple Legal cc'ed me on their email to Zflauaus and I will not, I repeat, not, be bullied into silence. Here it is:

Dear Zflauaus,

Thank you so much for your interest in our products. Including those that have yet to be released.

Unfortunately, you violate the copyrights in our intellectual property by posting videos of unreleased products. You also have smelly breath. We therefore order you to cease and desist from your unlawful distribution of our property or we will be compelled to take further action. We also order you to cease and desist the malodorous distribution of smelly vapors emanating from your mouth.

Finally, please treat this correspondence as confidential even though it is not. We realize you don’t realize that, and so it is sort of fun for us to get into your head and make you believe things that aren’t quite true. It is also fun for us to exercise our stock options. Yes, sweetpeas, it is a fun day to be part of...

Yours truly,

The Apple Legal Team.

Be prepared to be let down. Anyone else that thinks like this is retarded.

half the work is done on this widescreen ipod, take out the phone part and increase storage and i am set!

and what exactly do you think jobs means when he says they are working on an OSX based ipod? will this be in relation to the iphones system, maybe it will be pushed to almost a hanheld computer, a customizable desktop

I was not bullied into silence.

To an outside observer that's what it looks like whenever something is taken down due to a C&D. What you think is completely irrelevant to most internet tough guys that want to act like the pirate bay all the time.

Wow. What a great way to start off the morning. With a personal attack.
I cannot agree with you on that one. It is much better to start off the morning with a nice big cup of orange juice. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I hope, at the very least, we can agree on that.
I was not bullied into silence. Have you ever thought of the possibility that maybe I personally do not want to discuss/post the C&D letter with people whom I don't know on these message boards?
Given that you not only spill all your thoughts onto the internet through multiple channels, but also advocate that others do so as well (have you visited your website recently and read, for example, your comments under "Join The Social Revolution"?), not to mention boldly post these videos after they had already been removed from this site, I frankly didn't consider that you did not want to discuss/post the C&D letter with people you don't know on these boards. You seem to spend a lot of time and energy discussing things with people you don't know, so I didn't expect that you would turn into another person.
I have rights, rights that I am not required to post the C&D letter onto the web for the picking. Unless I have a court order from somebody related to Apple to publish the letter, I will not.
Court orders come from courts, hence the name. But I am not debating you on your right to make a decision. If you don't want to post or discuss the C&D letter, you shouldn't. Given that you are not familiar with what you are permitted to express and what you are not permitted to express, I also understand you interest in being overly cautious, and you shouldn't allow anyone to badger you into discussing anything you don't wish to discuss.

Surely you can understand why Apple's response is interesting to other people. People like you blog about your thoughts and speculate. Now, you have something that isn't mere speculation but an actual communication from the company you like to write about. And all of a sudden, after all the effort you put into speculating and theorizing and ruminating and even posting illicit videos, you clamp up. Obviously it has scared you into changing your behavior from everything you yourself have done and advocated before this. And of course, that's your right. Not only that, given your lack of experience in this sort of thing, it's good judgment.

At the same time, it's my right to be able to point this out, and speculate about the air quality in the vicinity of your mouth.

Incidentally, you also have the right not to be offended, and respond with a good sense of humor.

I fully agree with that. I don't want no trouble, I'm just here trying to read some stuff about things.

I thought your letter was funny and sarcastic, and I wouldn't have responded as if you were seriously accusing me of having bad breath. Then again, I also didn't post some video I knew almost for certain would attract lawyers from Apple, especially without knowing how that sort of thing generally goes.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think this is a bit of yawn?

The videos posted were 4:3 aspect ratio and didn't really show anything ground breaking in terms of where we've come from and where the majority of people want to get to (at least that frequent this site).

So we get a split screen on some functions and even smaller and indistinct album art than we already have. Not much to write home about really, is it? The Apple C&D adds some entertainment value and leads us to perhaps conclude that the videos are either Apple-sourced or damn close mock-ups, but it doesn't change the fundamental weakness in all of this: 4:3 ratio and functionality which is of dubious benefit, if of any at all...

This wasn't directed at you, Zf; if you hadn't posted the videos, I wouldn't have got to see them - I didn't have a chance to log on before Arn's C&D had already been actioned, so many thanks for leaving them up until the chopper dropped. My comments were about the content of the videos themselves: mildly interesting, but nothing to get into a lather about. :)

Whatever. You won't see me in this thread again.

OMG, can you say waaaaaahhhhh:(:(:(:(

Jeez, you offer up videos that are OBVIOUSLY not wanted out there by Apple and you can't take a little joke. Jeez, grow a pair and take it for what it was, A JOKE.
