There's a reason those QHD display phones are laggy; and it's not all Android itself. You need RAM and processing power to push around that many pixels.

I would take a smooth device ANY day over a few more pixels on a 5" screen rather than trying to cram a QHD screen in with 4gb RAM and need a 3000mah battery just to get a few hours of usage time.

Play with a Note5/Edge+ and then tell me it's laggy.
They absolutely fly and look stunning whilst they're at it.

Still not as smooth as iOS; close but not quite there. And it only took Android how many years to get there?

Again, needing an 8 core processor 4gb or RAM and a huge 3000 mah battery just to hang in there. Keep beefing up processor and hardware, need more and more battery just to sustain that; in general not in every case.

This is same dumb argument as the 1GB or RAM where iOS ran butter smooth on just because Android has and NEEDED 2-3GB just to run. Specs are only paper.

You dont NEED a QHD display. 1080p looks just fine on a whole 4.7" Same reason 4k TVs haven't taken off; it's just not NEEDED (and cost somewhat but that's coming down). The difference to the eye of 1080p vs 4k just isn't enough to justify the new hardware (a new TV) to most still.

It doesn't need those specs to do that. The GS5 is still a smooth phone and that only has 2GB ram. I'd challenge your point. I think the Note5/Edge+ are smoother than the 6+. I never see the UI drop below 60fps - hand on heart.

Fixed for you.

Calling it a pile of garbage is a real stretch. It may not be the most advanced phone spec-wise, but it is a perfectly useable and extremely nice phone to use for a lot of people, average consumers in particular. You don't really think Apple could pull off getting so many people buying their iPhones year after year if they produced "an underspecced pile of garbage" do you? Especially in China where there are plenty of pretty well specced phones....

Yeah, ok. The reason my 6+ lagged, froze, crashed and reloaded tabs & apps for fun, forcing me to sell it mid-contract and buy something else is because I'm "spec obsessed".
I would hardly buy a phone with 1GB of RAM, a 1080p LCD screen, no split-screen multitasking, an 8MP camera, huge yesteryear bezels and no wireless charging if I bought things purely on spec would I??

Bullcrap as I owned a GS5 myself and it was NOT always anywhere near smooth

My nexus 6 has 515ppi and its no sharper than a 6 plus as far as I can tell. I don't care about the numbers. I'm just excited to get my 6s plus in a few weeks! I have to wait until 10/7 though

And yet you said you are buying another Apple iPhone with almost all of these "flaws" ....
You must love suffering....

There are plenty of android phones with 12 cores 3 ghz CPUs, 8 Gb or RAM, 4K displays, 30 Mpixel cameras and every other gimmicks you are dreaming about, on the market...

Just as some of us with common sense are saying. Your eye can only see so many pixels (no not Steve Jobs rhetoric about retina) but 500 is WAY more than needed on even a big screen like the Nexus 6.

For a 4.7 you simply wouldn't need over 1080p. 1080 would be nice on the 6S. But I've owned Android high resoution devices and have 20/20 and it's just not that big a difference.

People saying they can tell the 720 on the 6 vs 1080p on the 6+ are full of sh*t big time.

Again, to you it is a pile of garbage. Everyone has their own personal experience.

However to declare it outright as a pile of garbage is nonsense. Why would so many millions of people buy "a pile of garbage"?

I used one as an insurance replacement for a week and it was fine. I could equally point at a nexus 5. That's a very smooth device which never slows down.

This nonsense that Android needs any more ram than iOS is just a myth. OK it might need it if you choose to take advantage of the OS's multi-tasking ability but in terms of running everyday tasks, totally fine.

Again bull. Pick up and older Android device even with a 5.0 ROM and it's barely usable. In fact I have an older Kindle Fire 1st gen with a 5.0 ROM laying around and it's slow as molasses barely responsive with 1GB of RAM and an old TI OMAP 4430 1GHz dual core processor- same specs the iPhpne has run iOS on for YEARS smoothly up to the iphone 5 when it gained 1GB of RAM. Android DOES need higher specs than iOS to run, period.

Honestly it is marketing. Same reason millions of people people buy McDonalds, Starbucks, etc. I wouldn't say any of these are garbage by any means. They are familiar and popular. That is all you need with some top notch marketing to pass by with mediocre product. Again, not bad. But certainly not the best.

Apple gave us 3D touch display in 6s 6s+, they are not going to double up on feature added for display.
It will be main attraction for 7 & 7+ along with size reduction, 1080p on 7 and Quad HD for 7+, both with A10 to power CPU/GPU which will allow "same or better battery usage".

There is good article discuss about how Apple handle new 14/16-nanometer FinFET chip, which will likely be on both A9 and A10. It indicated significant higher performance for A10 vs A9 using same 14/16-nanometer FinFET chip which are smaller and consume less power, hence better performance when start supporting 1080p on 7 and Quad HD for 7+, which might allow Apple to further reduce size of 7 and 7+ battery and overall size, with same hours usage.

http://www.fool.com/investing/gener...note-on-apple-incs-a9-and-a10-processors.aspx

"for the A9, which is likely to be one of the first high-volume processors built on a foundry FinFET technology, Apple is playing it conservative on the transistor count and die size in order to keep yields acceptable (since smaller chips tend to yield better).
Once Apple and/or the foundries have a better handle on getting FinFET designs to yield, then for an A10 chip built on the same technology next year, Apple can increase the transistor count while keeping the cost structure roughly in line with the expense of the lower-transistor-count A9 chip in 2015"

Samsung devices need around another 0.5 - 1GB more RAM but only because of Touchwiz. To say that Android phones 'need' 3 or 4GB is BS as you quite rightly say. Apparently iPhones only 'need' 1GB but that was proven incorrect 12- 24 months ago.

I was talking more about the UI than rendered content, videos/photos. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind having 3x resolution on iPhone 6S, however the negative consequences (battery, performance, blurry unadapted web/app content, etc..) outweigh the tiny difference in sharpness.

My wife has the 6 and I have the 6 Plus. The difference in text sharpness is huge. I can tell so easily.

And? Is your life over because the text is a teeny tiny bit sharper? First world problems here

The 6+ also suffers some visual glitches the way it renders so it's a tradeoff. I would rather have a smoother device overall. If you want 1080 get a 6S+

LOL, so some bargain basement Amazon tablet is your comparison? Which barely even runs android with a thick layer of "FireOS" on top of it.

The old TI OMAP processors are freaking terrible.

Comparing spec to spec with iOS and Android is stupid.

I have no idea why some people on these forums are so salty. The complaints about iPhone 6+ shortcomings are very valid and they are dismissed as 'whining' or being told to 'buy an android'

Again a 5.0 Android ROM of unskinned Android. But still, I was saying the same thing you are, that iOS doesnt need the same specs to run smoothly and you cannot compare. The point was a dual core with 1gb (same as an iphone 5 basically) runs iOS smooth and Android like sh*t on those specs.
