Apparently the marketing agency hasn't even registered the name. So it's not even legal for them to ask Apple for changing the name. Simple idiocy!
It's absolutely legal for them to ask Apple to change the name. And it is absolutely legal for Apple not to do so.

Look, I have nothing whatsoever to do with iPhone, 6S or anything like that. It is absolutely 100% legal for me to not use the name iPhone 6s. (I can't really ask them to change the name, because there is no iPhone 6s yet). And while I'm at it, I can ask Apple to change its name to Banana, Inc. It probably wouldn't even make anyone at Apple laugh, but its legal to ask them.

…And you too can have your 15 minutes of confusing fame and curious calls from the Apple legal department.

Maybe 7 Marketing or 7S Marketing could come up with a more clever campaign. This one was just mildly amusing.

I doubt Apple's legal team did anything in this case or would in any other.

Yeah, if they were great marketers, they'd have some line like "If it isn't 6S, it isn't 6S". :D

That probably would be pushing it... ;-).

Right now, they reaping the attention while Apple doesn't give a hoot.
When Apple changes nothing from 6s they get attention
If Apple had already named the phone 7, they get even more attention.
They get it both ways.

I was more making fun of the idea that this is lame marketing while the line "If it's not an iPhone it's not an iPhone is somehow not lame.

I'd to see Apple move away from this naming scheme altogether. Just call it the iPhone 2015 (and iPhone Plus 2015). We all know there's a new one every year. The number is getting a little awkward.
We all know how that worked out with the iPad. Two different ipads without a numbering scheme ipad (3rd and 4th Generation). After that it went back to the numbering with the iPad Air/iPad Air 2 etc etc.

You're overanalyzing in my opinion. And being nitpicky because you simply don't like the campaign. Apple may name the product, but it's the world that refers to it. What phone is that. It's the 6s. How often to people really say it's the iPhone 6s?
I agree. The world does not care what products are officially called. The iPad 3rd and 4th generations were forever incorrectly being called iPad 3 and iPad 4. Few cared. And those few that did care like some fan sites (this one included) were more in favour of the incorrect fan made up name then the official one from Apple.

Apple could call the next phone "iPhone new amazing and awesome" or anything else they wanted and the people will still not give a **** and call it iPhone 6S. This mostly forces Apple into using the 6S name as you want the name the product fans use to be the same name that's all over all the stores. Easier product name recognition in stores that way.

Considering the iphone has been following the model of 3, then 3S, 4, then 4S, 5, then 5S, 6...hmmm

They are called 6S Marketing - it has nothing to do with apple if their clients will confuse a company with a cellphone...

There's a 6S media, a 6S company, 6S industries, etc --- there are many companies, places, and industries with 6S...

the difference with iphone is that it's a progression number...you might as well argue that people would have confused candy shops with android lollipop

I've no idea about 'haters' if I find one I'll ask, and I also stated they were in negotiations in my post plus I posted another link with the information, did you read it?
Seems like you are apologising. Because you haven't mentioned the second link I posted, to a Apple fansite no less, or acknowledged that I stated they were in negotiations.

I do not follow all your links... after a wile is boring. But feel good about it ;)
