Or it could be AT&T's FU to all the people holding out with the 2-year contracts/ UDP's and refusing to conform to NEXT/ Mobile Share.
Doubt it since you could still upgrade next with preorders on AT&T and yet no one has earlier shopping dates with that too

I pre ordered the 6s+ 64 space grey thru the premier site. Order 315amET 9/12 I have an oct 16-13 ship date and my status is preparing for shipment. If it doesn't come launch day can I cancel a day before so the upgrade is reversed? I would pay full price for the phone. This was on launch day I can stay in line.

Well it's looking pretty good for me to get my 6S+ SG on release day. I placed the order on the evening of 9/13 with shipping dates of of 10/16 - 10/23. My credit card just got changed for the tax!

Mine still says, "In progress" but still says that it will be shipped on September 24th. delivery for the 25th. So I don't know. I really hope I get it on launch day...after all...I am an employee...Haha!!!

You have a 9/25 delivery for 6sPlus ordered from ATT ??!!

My order still has the Delivery Date of 10/16 - 10/23.

When I check the full/desktop AT&T website, my status is "Preparing to ship" (and has been since 9/12).

Yet, the MyAT&T app says my status is "In progress".

Weird.

Just talked to ATT about ship dates since I'm leaving the country and wouldn't want the phone left on the doorstep. While he had no idea if they would be there launch day he did say that some there have been some updates to ship date they just received where they could ship 5-10 business days earlier. Other than that if it's going to arrive he said your shipping would be updated Tuesday/Wednesday.

Went to check my order and a chat window popped up, so I said "what the hell" and asked if there was any chance the phone would ship earlier. The response:

I do show that your order is estimated to be shipped between 10/16/2015 to 10/23/2015. However, the dates that are provided are just expected shipment dates that have been generated automatically, they are not exact. The order may ship out before depending on availability of the product. Orders are also being shipped at a first come first serve basis.

I thanked her for her time and ended the chat. It will come when it comes, I guess.

i love having my iphone on launch day, but it's gonna take more than potentially making me wait 3 weeks for it to make me pay full price on a phone.
First, I know your feels. Two, I don't think you will have to worry; my money is the subsidy being gone next year.

I'm still hoping that our phones will arrive on the 25th. If I don't receive any information by thursday, then i'll head to the apple store. i made a reservation for 830am. I hope they have some extra stock and I can get the phone I want.

I believe apple stopped doing the reservations for the new phones as of today, at least until this Saturday.

This is another subtle myth that gets thrown around. Most people who would even consider going to NEXT would do so to upgrade their phone every year and aren't worried about selling their phone on eBay. So the average NEXT customer really is never going to pay anywhere near full price for the phone. They're going to pay an installment plan of $42.50/mo for a 6S plus for 12 months before they upgrade to another phone. That's $510. A 6S plus' full retail price is $799 if memory serves. Maybe $849. So that dispels that myth right there. Now maybe you don't like the idea of having to turn in your phone. That's another entire matter.

Also people on NEXT Only pay $15 per line where people on 2yr contract pay $40 per line. That adds up as well.

I don't know the details regarding the NEXT plan, but from what you're saying, you're paying $510 for a phone you don't keep, correct?

That's terrible, compared to what I've been doing since 2008. Buy a new iphone every year for 299 (now it's 399 due to memory and screen size), and sell my wife's 2 year old iphone for about 250-350 (depending on screen and memory size) and hand down my 1 year old iphone to her.

So that costs roughly 50-150 per year to upgrade, out of pocket, once you contact ATT for that BS "activation fee" to be waived.

Um, after you paid that $510 you return the phone and start paying again. By using your math thats $1020 for 2 years, while, I buy a phone for $200, use it for a year sell it for $500+, then buy a new one, even at $450..... Sell it again for $500+.... So at the end I actually make $260 if you do count in activation of $45 (which you can have waved pretty easily).... Now also include unlimited data in this whole scheme and my bill for 2 lines is no more then $140/month... I dont see how next or family share plans make any sense at all.... I will be kicking and screaming if they take this away from me, probably move to another carrier....
