Um, after you paid that $510 you return the phone and start paying again. By using your math thats $1020 for 2 years, while, I buy a phone for $200, use it for a year sell it for $500+, then buy a new one, even at $450..... Sell it again for $500+.... So at the end I actually make $260 if you do count in activation of $45 (which you can have waved pretty easily).... Now also include unlimited data in this whole scheme and my bill for 2 lines is no more then $140/month... I dont see how next or family share plans make any sense at all.... I will be kicking and screaming if they take this away from me, probably move to another carrier....
Hey - I usually argue your side of this argument. I'm a 'died in the wool' two year contract guy.. because I get my new phone subsidy $ for my Christmas present each year.. So the idea of paying monthly for my phone doesn't work for me at all. So please know that when I'm making the 'other side' of the argument.

The only myth I want to dispel is the idea of 'paying full price for the phone'.. That would ONLY happen if you did NOT upgrade your phone.. On NEXT 12 you'd own the phone in 20 payments.. So your 'fuzzy math' number of $1020 there is a pure fabrication. You'll never pay MORE than the full price of the phone. But keep in mind - that there are only TWO reasons any sane person would get into a NEXT plan - and that's the '12 one'.. Where you can turn your phone in every year for a new one. And as I said - for a 6S Plus (64GB) that's a total of $510 laid out... and then a $510 the next year.. and so on.. yes, NEXT people can't sell theirs on eBay for a profit EVER. But for 2 year contract people they're laying out $399 for a 64Gb 6S Plus AND paying an activation fee of $40 (which is no longer waiveable at ATT - have at is.. won't work anymore).. AND they're paying $15 more(if UDP) to $25 more(if MobileShare) per month for service than a NEXT person at $15/mo.. SO in terms of raw cash flow through the course of JUST ONE YEAR... NEXT people are NOT getting hosed at all..

I agree with you in the LONG RUN - with 2yr.. You own your phone earlier.. (well not exactly - getting an incontract phone unlocked and sold on eBay and making sure that next person doesn't have trouble isn't as easy as you've been told people.. I know - I've tried it)... and you have the potential to make some money at the end. So generally - I'm usually on your side of this argument and PERSONALLY ALWAYS choose 2yr contract. My wife's and my line are always one year apart in terms of qualifying for a full subsidy and she never wants a new phone. So 2yr works perfect for me.

But it IS a MYTH that NEXT people have to 'pay full price' over the course of a year. NOT true at all. Over the course of a year their CASH flow out of their pocket is actually a little less than those of us on 2YR.. Fact.

Mine says "preparing to ship" but it still has the October 16-23 date? What does this mean? BTW it's an iPhone 6S plus, 64GB, gold.

It means that AT&T has no stock and Apple has promised them on that date. All of the Pluses ordered in the first few days have that date. :(

So is that the earliest we can get them? Is there any chance we can get them on launch? I pre ordered on the 12th.

Right now - Best Buy still has a supply of 64GB 6S+ ready for launch day. NOT the Rose Gold.. which shows no delivery date next to it. But online a 9/25 'pick up in store' date is given for PreOrders of 6S+ 64GB Space Grey. Didn't check any other model but it and Rose Gold. So reserve your 6S+ there. ONLY FOR NEXT!!!!! No 2yr contract. Obviously.

The only BB store that I could've picked it up at is 2 hours away. Is there any chance I can get it on launch or next week from AT&T?

Not through pre-order for a 6S+. Maybe waiting outside an ATT store on launch day.. But I'll bet their supplies of 6S+ will be very low. Last year, most ATT stores only had 5-10 6+ in the whole store!!

And with BB - you can have it sent to you via shipping - there was an in store pickup option AND deliver to address week 1 of Oct.

Well ****...guess I'll be in for a long 30 days

I have a question. And sorry if someone asked before, why are all the other carriers getting phones on launch and ATT is having issues getting phones to folks on the 25? I peaked at other carrier threads and people seem to have tracking numbers etc?

You don't need to ask in multiple threads. One thread will be sufficient. Yes it's been asked and answered(speculated) scores of times now. Just read back a few pages before posting please your answer is there.

ATT never gives tracking numbers before 1-2 days before shipping. That answers part of your question.

I know there are all these conspiracies going around about the 6s plus but I don't understand why ATT wouldn't have them but Best Buy would have the ATT model?

Allocation baby.. Allocation! And remember we're comparing PreOrder (shipping from a carrier, ATT, to YOU) to PreOrder (shipping to Best Buy's in store stock that you come in and pick up).. Those are very different. PreOrder people with a Carrier will not come into a store.. They will wait for their phones at home and not buy EXTRAS from the Carrier store.. Best Buy and Target are retail outlet stores. The ONLY way Best Buy makes money is people walking into store and they'll buy other stuff. Apple is very good to their retail stores - and wants to make sure there's some supply there. They figure the MAJORITY of Carrier sales will be straight deliveries to homes/businesses.. Again - just another 'plausible' explanation.

And allocation for the other carriers for home delivery and not ATT? The best conspiracy I've heard is that the band 30 model is the one affected by the backlight issue, which is why ATT is affected and no one else.

Keep up, dude, keep up. The other carriers are getting Model A1687 without the LTE 30 band.. No problem with that supply chain.. Geez people! Can't you keep a simple list of comparative details in your head?! Only the model 1634 (with LTE30 band-ATT only destination) is affected..
I'm communicating to airheads! ...

Jes kidding.. But seriously - keep up!

Bottom line is there HAVE to be some 6sPluses that will make it into people's homes on the 25th. There's no way all other carriers and retail places have the 6sPlus but ATT has ZERO.

The question is just how many they will have. Nobody knows. We'll start seeing on Wednesday/Thursday ...

Just got off the phone with a manager at the premier escalation department (about another issue) and he said he checked the sku and said they have plenty of my model in stock.
