Yes, i was pulling my hair out from the lag, crashed and reboots due to the lack of ram in my 6+...couldn't be happier as the 6s+ experience is what my 6+ was supposed to be (ram wise imho)

Your 6+ was defective. Lags and app crashes do happen, but the phone should not reboot itself.

My 5S rebooted itself three times in a week, even after I wiped and set it up as new. I made an appointment with Apple. Explained what happened and they swapped it out immediately.

Actually the speed increase is pretty massive. You clearly haven't used one. It shows just how underpowered the 6 Plus was in comparison. The 6s+ is a very significant upgrade for the performance alone.

Dude I own one...

Can anyone please tell me how life-changing the 6S+ is over the 6+? It's an $800 phone guys, and you're lying to yourself by saying it's hugely better. I have to remind myself it's the 6S+ every so often.

Dude, if you paid 800 dollars for the difference that's on you. I sold my 6Plus for 550 and paid 360 after tax for the 6sPlus with triple the storage.

It's is absolutely much faster.. not enough that I would say you NEED to upgrade, of COURSE NOT. but.. it's there and you can feel it in the OS just about everywhere. The 6PLUS (the 6 not so much) was an underpowered phone, even day 1 reviews mentioned it.

If you have the finances and you wanted to buy it, do it. Agreed it feels the same as my old phone and does most of the same stuff, the RAM is especially noticeable and the animations are much smoother.

I found general iOS performance to be lackluster on the 6+, and completely fluid on the 6+s. Especially when doing quick actions like going to the camera, where the 6+ used to choke for seconds.

I think it is worth the upgrade.

I didn't pay a penny for it, I got on T-Mobile's promo and I simply upgraded by returning my 6+ and keeping my same monthly rate.

I just want some honesty here. Yes it's zippier and quicker, but it's slight and iOS 9 still has graphical glitches all over. 3D Touch has no amazing functionality at the moment, and it'll be more developed and fleshed out in the 7. I really believe that dropping hundreds of dollars on this phone is objectively wasteful, save your money and upgrade for the 7.

I don't see much of a difference at all, but I always have to have the latest phone. I'm locked with Nextworth to sell my phone at $455, not great but the price you pay when you sell after the new iPhone gets released.

iOS9 seems to be a bit better on the S, it still lags and freezes but I'm hoping Apple addresses that. I'm hoping the 2gb RAM will be useful, less reloading tabs and also maybe with jailbreak I can have multi screen apps. Touch ID is also MUCH faster and seems more accurate. 3d touch is just a gimmick, we've had press and hold for years now, but hey lets see what devs do with it.

If money is an issue, then don't waste money on the S as it's not very different, at least not worth it. If you like to waste money just to have the latest and greatest (like me) then it does have some nice new features.

It's not "life-changing". But for the first time, my iPhone feels like it's not even breaking a sweat, no matter what I throw at it.

I have owned every iPhone since the 3G, and upgrade annually. I'm on the Next plan now. My justification is that it's not just a phone upgrade. Every time I upgrade, I'm getting a better phone, pocket computer, camera, video camera, GPS navigator, and PDA. Compared to the suite of devices I used to own and upgrade, the cost is a steal. We do a lot of photography and have a young child, so the camera upgrades alone are pretty much worth it. But with the CPU and RAM improvements on this particular upgrade, it's the best upgrade I've experienced yet.

It will be a bit faster moving around apps, unlock is fast-when it doesn't hang-6S Plus users reporting various hangs where it's unresponsive for a second after unlocking, and you have the 3d touch and 4K videos. Other than that I wouldn't use an upgrade if your carrier still has that. The camera is no better. It simply produces larger pictures.

I did a search so please excuse my poor search skills and just link the thread if this has been covered.

Is the 6S Plus (or S generation overall this year) worth upgrading from last year's 6 Plus?

Thanks.
Absolutely Not!

I have both. Bought the Pink phone, that Apple claims is Rose Gold, for my wife.

Kept my 6 Plus even though I was eligible for an upgrade simply because the new features are different but not worth my time and trouble.

After Apple gets some experience with these new changes and bugs they bring, we'll get a better phone in the iP7.

Not worth the upgrade - £600/$1000 for a slightly smoother animation and force touch short cuts is madness if you already have a 6 or 6+

Especially as there seems to be some lag and jitter on the s phones with ios9 - it's running pretty smooth on the 6+

How hard can it be to animate a few app tabs smoothly? Really... The processor in the iPhone 5 onward should be able to do something as simple as a few animations between apps, there was never this lagging and jitter issue on the early ios's, I don't think jobs would have allowed it.

I also was running 6 tabs on safari earlier with no reloading, so to me the only loss is 3D to touch as I use an RX100 for more serious photos

Thanks for all the replies.

...I have noticed that my 6 Plus has had major issues lately since Apple replaced it last month for being part of the 2014 launch batch with bad cameras and it doesn't seem to want to rotate the home screen to portrait or landscape. Likewise it freezes up sometimes in SMS. And it has some lag issues when I type. I think I got a crappy refurb as my replacement.

Giving everything else you've said, and ESPECIALLY if you're experiencing lag and freezing on your current phone then yeah I'd say go for it.

FWIW: My 6+ was good, not great, performance-wise. I would see occasional lag and page reloading happened relatively frequently, but it didn't bother me tremendously and overall it was fine. So far my 6s has been smooth as silk and everything seems to maintain state much better as I hop between apps/activities. And the more I get used to 3D Touch the more eager I am for other app-makers to start taking advantage of it.

Yes! This generation made the biggest leap in performance between "S" model years that I can remember. If you don't mind paying the 300-400 dollar difference between the value of your current phone and the new one, it's definitely worth it. One other option is to wait a couple months and pick one up on the second hand market.

I came from a 6 Plus over to a 6s Plus. Although the speed increase is very much welcome and the 3D Touch has its moments, I'd say overall, this is an upgrade that wouldn't really kill anyone to miss. Still, it's the latest and greatest that Apple has to offer...With that said, I'm happy with my purchase.

I personally would prefer to get and stay on an S upgrade cycle if I had to be restricted to 2 year upgrade cycles.

My husband had the iPhone 5 and it had severe problems with its slate finish. It's been awhile so I don't remember what else was improved going from the 5 to the 5s but I know he really enjoyed and preferred the 5s and didn't even bother passing his 5 to me but went ahead and paid to upgrade me from my iPhone 4 to the 5s.

Going to the 6 Plus from the 5s was not the most satisfying experience. There was the massive form factor change and some camera improvement but overall it felt like it needed more polishing and more time for developers to make the most of the new display. And now in the 6S Plus I feel like I got the iPhone I wanted the 6 Plus to be.

I imagine they will do something very attention getting with the form factor for the 7. But I'm now leery of feeling like a beta tester for new form factors. I really enjoy a more polished, established iPhone experience. I feel like the 6S Plus could take me through two years very nicely if I want it to.

I feel my 6+ is telling me "you 're not dumping me yet are you?:( I have served you so well without a glitch for a year & can do it again"

But I know me too well; am getting the S+ :p, seeing 6+ will be worth peanuts next yr!!

Honestly I currently have both. I would say no, unless you are "pound foolish" which I am. The differences are so minor. The keeper feature is much faster Touch ID and the 3D Touch is nice. Again if money is no object then yes...

The differences are so minor? Crikey. Aside from looks it's a completely different phone. It hauls ass, keeps apps & browser tabs in memory and is overall MUCH more satisfying to use. Then there's the camera improvement and 3D Touch. It's the biggest leap in performance since the iPhone 5 and I wonder what people were expecting.

No lag? :D

Was just watching this video and the difference in speed seems small. That may have just saved me from spending $450 on a 6S+. I just installed an ad blocker on my 6+ and now Safari flies.

Hmm, opening apps doesn't tax them enough. The big improvements for me are in scrolling speed, where the 6+ exhibits major lag and the 6S+ scrolls super-smoothly. Also in general everyday usage the speed increase is evident across the board (settings, apps, webpage loading etc), and the RAM is a *major* game changer. Keeping apps and browser tabs in memory is such a huge improvement that it is worth the upgrade by itself.

Mine doesn't lag. I've had one 5 second screen freeze whilst browsing (with a subsequent tab reload) which I'll admit was worrying but other than that nothing but blazing speed and smoothness for hours. I would be the first to complain about lag trust me. I have a 14 day return on this and any 6+ style shennanigans will have me taking this back faster than you can roll your eyes. So far I'm nothing but impressed.
