Everybody be actin like the 6 series were snails...my 6+ was no slouch, it was light on its feet. The speed improvements aren't worth hundreds of dollars to anybody.
I agree, if you have to have the latest then get it. But if you're on 2 year contract it is probably better to wait and check out next year's

It's hilarious how people swear blind that the 5S is faster than the i5 despite impossible to see improvements and yet people claim the 6S Plus to be an incremental and relatively pointless upgrade on the 6+. It strikes me that those who think the 6+ is fine and has zero issues are probably going to consider the 6S+ to be an unworthy upgrade. If your 6+ is fine for your needs then of course there is no need to upgrade. If you hate your 6+ due to performance problems then absolutely the 6S+ fixes these.

It is worth the upgrade. If you can afford it. I loved my 6+. I did not have those problems that some are talking about. My 6+ was not slow or lagging. I enjoy the new features. Like 3D Touch and Live Photos. I got my iPhone at 2:00pm Friday. Drove 2 hours to a wedding. I didn't have much time to play with it. When I got there and started taking pictures. Zooming in for closer video and pics I noticed the difference. The Live Photos feature maybe a gimmick to some but I love it. My wife , mother, and others were impressed by the software/hardware. I forgot my DSL at home because I was in a rush. The iPhone 6s+ handle the job well. I'm thinking about upgrading my wife's 6 because she likes my 6s+ so much.

Mine doesn't lag. I've had one 5 second screen freeze whilst browsing (with a subsequent tab reload) which I'll admit was worrying but other than that nothing but blazing speed and smoothness for hours. I would be the first to complain about lag trust me. I have a 14 day return on this and any 6+ style shennanigans will have me taking this back faster than you can roll your eyes. So far I'm nothing but impressed.

Since I installed 9.1 beta 2 on my 6+, that effectively quelled my urge to buy a 6+s. Safari has been so good, compared to iOS 8. No Safari crashes on iOS 9, compared to 8's daily crashes.

I may change my mind, but at this point there's no compelling reason to upgrade based on my daily needs.

Was just watching this video and the difference in speed seems small. That may have just saved me from spending $450 on a 6S+. I just installed an ad blocker on my 6+ and now Safari flies.

What add blocker did you install ?
Upgrading for the speed will not be a great idea. It's faster but not like going from a 4s to 6. The best reason to upgrade is for the camera and 3D Touch functions or gestures. That's what is actually quicker. When you get use to it.

Purify is the ad blocker, first one that came up when I searched the app store (it's 99 cents.) Heard them talking about them on Macbreak Weekly and how Safari flies once you block ads. It only works if you have ios9 installed. For me, speed would be half the reason to upgrade. 3D Touch is the other reason but I feel like it won't be that useful for another few months when most apps support it. I came close to going down to the Apple Store and impulse buying a 6S+ but called and they don't have any 64GB SG VZW. I think it's a no-brainer to upgrade if you have anything other than a 6/6+.

I never had a 6 Plus, it sounds like it did have some performance issues.

However, I can say that going from a regular 6 to the 6S Plus, you don't even feel a performance increase for normal tasks.

Well it looks like the folks who didn't upgrade don't think so and the folks who did so far seem pleased. If you are on an upgrade plan that won't break your budget then yes, it's a very nice upgrade.

I was not happy with my 6Plus. I am happy with my 6S plus so far and actually hope to keep it two years. I could not wait to unload my 6Plus. My husband, on the other hand, was very happy with his 6Plus yet still enjoys his new 6S plus.

However, it's NOT worth undertaking any financial hardship to upgrade.

Your response almost mirrors mine. I was a little disappointed at the performance of the 6+ on iOS 9 especially. With the upgraded intervals, the 6S + is amazing!

Your 6+ was defective. Lags and app crashes do happen, but the phone should not reboot itself.

My 5S rebooted itself three times in a week, even after I wiped and set it up as new. I made an appointment with Apple. Explained what happened and they swapped it out immediately.

Apple replaced my phone and I just sucked it up until the 6s+ came out

I didn't pay a penny for it, I got on T-Mobile's promo and I simply upgraded by returning my 6+ and keeping my same monthly rate.

I just want some honesty here. Yes it's zippier and quicker, but it's slight and iOS 9 still has graphical glitches all over. 3D Touch has no amazing functionality at the moment, and it'll be more developed and fleshed out in the 7. I really believe that dropping hundreds of dollars on this phone is objectively wasteful, save your money and upgrade for the 7.

You mean 'subjectively' wasteful..

I came from a 6 plus to ps plus, so far I find it much more snappier, i.e. faster on everything. unlocking with fingerprint is super quick. It is much faster with everything and pages on safari do not reload as much. It is a little bit heavier and is noticeable. I am very happy I upgraded. The new perks are a bonus and I am digging live pictures so far.

Or as usual the truth lies somewhere in the middle. People who say the 6+ lags frequently are crazy. Does it lag occasionally, absolutely. My iPad Air 2 lags occasionally. The only constant lag, for me, on the 6 Plus is going from Google Music to the app switcher, that lags ALL THE TIME. Annoying, not a deal breaker.

People who say the 6 Plus is riddled with constant problems like lag or crashing have little credibility with me. I ignore them and move on. It just isn't true in my case except for an occasional hiccup. I got rid of an iPad 3 because it was horrific. The 6 Plus? Not even close.
Are you saying that the iPad Air 2 lags as occasionally as the 6 Plus? I think you just lost some credibility here. I have the 6 Plus, 6S Plus and the iPad Air 2. The 6 Plus is like a generation behind the iPad Air 2. In fact, the 6 Plus shares some similarity with the iPad Air (1). Both are great devices hindered with the lack of RAM with the 64 bit CPU and high resolution.

The RAM alone is worth the upgrade. There are other examples in my day-to-day use where that 1GB RAM becomes a real bottleneck. (I jailbreak every single iOS device I own).

The 4K video, live photos, the upgraded cameras and processor, 3D touch, sweet but if it still had 1GB RAM I'd pass.

I went from a 128GB 6+ to a 128GB 6s+.

For me the camera alone made the decision easy. Having a 1 year old, I put a lot of importance on the camera. It takes really beautiful pictures.

The 2GB RAM and ultra-fast touch ID were the icing on the cake. Both are very noticeable, but personally I wouldn't have updated if not for the camera.

I did a search so please excuse my poor search skills and just link the thread if this has been covered.

Is the 6S Plus (or S generation overall this year) worth upgrading from last year's 6 Plus?

Thanks.
Yes, if you can sell the old one. I got $450 for my $299 iPhone 6. So, basically a free upgrade with a little bit extra in my pocket.

I have a "$399" 6 Plus 64GB in pristine condition. I imagine it is worth some good money.

Worth about $600.

I looked today on CL and saw that too. Thanks.

I figure I can get $600 for it now. It is flawless with a good case and a year of AppleCare Plus remaining.

It will cost me $330 over the next year to own the 64GB 6S Plus ($510 for the payments minus the $180 in Mobile Share savings for having a $25/month phone instead of $40/month).

Then next year I can buy out my Next 12 for $340 and still sell my 6S Plus for good money again.

So I make $600 less $330 less $340. That's $70 cost to me before I sell next year. My net profit on the 6S Plus will be more than my 6 Plus would be selling it at 2 years old.

I definitely see a performance increase in page loads in Safari. Not sure what speed your connection maxed out at but our internet goes to 150 Mbps so it's fast and I've always wondered if it's been limited to either the iPhone or the speed that the Safari can load, but it's definitely faster.

I went to the Apple store today and tried a 6S+. It definitely feels faster than my 6+ just jumping around and loading apps. I'm a sucker for super fast phones and the 6S+ is definitely fast. I've decided to buy a 64GB SG Verizon 6S+ when they get them in stock.

Personally this is the first year I'm sitting out and not upgrading.

Currently have a Plus and couldn't be happier.

Had an interesting situation though where I broke my Plus at the end of August and did an AT&T insurance claim. Was sent a brand new iPhone so I've got the best of both worlds. I don't have to throw money or a minor upgrade and I've got a brand new iPhone in my hands that should easily last me until the 7.
