I'm currently on 9.3 beta 7 and the feature doesnt solve the problem. Even on the lowest yellow temperature which you can set, the screen is warmer than without the feature. The screen really looks colder when you turn the feature off so the screens standard calibration is not that warm at all.

And to the people telling me to wait until Apple uses oled displays: have you guys seen the Samsung Galaxy s7 yet? My iPhone's White is better than the samsungs White besides the settings chosen for the s7. The colours are exaggerated and not natural at all.
White looks creamy, grey and not saturated.

I like my current 6s+'s display way more than the s7's.

And Samsung AMOLED screen uniformity is really bad. The top is green sometimes and the bottom pink. It's very rare to find a uniform screen.

So once again I found another dead pixel on the top left corner of my brand new 6s plus which I got 2 weeks ago in the Apple Store... I'm sick of this.
Any suggestions ?
I'm thinking of ignoring it and exchanging the phone later this year but I don't like to get a crappy exchange phone either

Well you could go through the Apple Genius and they can definitely do the screen replacement, meaning they can just replace the screen, this way serial number still matches with the box.

Yeah right but it will take time and I need to drive again 180kms in total.
I might send it in for repairs but it is so small that it can be overseen and I get the same phone with the same display back

So, I updated my iphone 5S to 9.3 and im trying the night shift feature.

Is it a placebo effect or the normal color calibration is better, less yellow?

If you set the bar of colour temperature to the left (less warm), and then turn night shift off, you will see a difference between night shift off and less warm settings.

To me it seems that before the update my phone was always like on less warm, and now with nightshift off it seems a little less yellowish.

Placebo effect or someone else feels like with 9.3 colours are better?

I have a 6S and it looks like they may have adjusted the color temperature of the screen to be less warm. This is with Night Shift off.

Interesting, i wonder if someone else noticed this

The yellow tint issues on my 6s has just about gone away. I have to use night shift to get to to look like it first did now, it does not drastically shift depending on the ambient light.

It's almost like they were testing the night shift features.

I've been in this yellow-tint weird display bucket as well. I've done a few exchanges, and this last one I got is acceptable. Not great, but not bad enough to return. Ironically, I just bought my wife the SE and she got it in yesterday. PERFECT screen, of course =/. I think it actually has a downgraded screen compared to the 6/6s (specwise) but it looks better and brighter to me. Goes to show that specs don't tell the whole story.

I've heard rumors that the iPhone 7 will get AMOLED. Will that solve the issue or are there inherent issues with AMOLED as well as far as uniformity and brightness goes?

I have got a brand new iPhone 6s this week (Production week was from Dec - Foxconn) and the screen wasn't yellow but was showing a uneven brightness: the top of the screen was much dimer than the bottom. This defect was quite obvious while holding the iPhone in landscape with whatever white or clear background such as with the mail app. After some testing an then some discussions with the store crew I finally got a replacement (Production week was still Dec but from Pegatron) and the new unit screen is far better with a uneven brightness and with white looking white (Brightness looks even better). This is always really annoying to be very excited by getting a new iPhone and then getting disappointed with a bad quality screen.

If I compare my 6S side-by-side with some other 6S's mine does look less cool-blue-white and more yellowish-white.

I even bought a new 6S a while ago and got the cooler blue one. But even though it was less yellow it was also more dull and I returned it and kept mine.

Don't know if it's a placebo affect but after IOS 9.3 mine seems less yellow and more grey-white. Reds seem more red and less orange, especially in low light (no night shift). And as infoghost said, it was almost like they were employing some night shift or were handling low light differently in IOS 9.2.1.

After receiving my launch day 6s plus was exited to check out the display especially coming from a 5s.
So I powered up the new device and was shocked at how dull , lifeless and slightly yellow the display looked and had to
power up the 5s to confirm my suspicions.
Not very long after maybe a few days the display looked way better and after a couple of weeks looked very close to my 5s.
I am not sure if my eyes were adjusting or if the display really had started to change colour.

Around the time Night Shift was introduced I noticed my display had a cool blue tint to it (Night Shift off) when previously
it was much warmer.
Again I am not sure if after using Night Shift (Very warm setting) and then turning it of again tricked my eyes making the display seem cooler.

I can turn up the Night Shift slider from cool to around a third of the way up and the display looks almost perfect to me and leave it on permanently, but then loose the benefit of sunset to sunrise option because I like the slider set to around three quarters up i.e. very warm.
Anyway I can live with the new cooler looking display, Its no better or worse just different.

Glad I got that of my chest.
