Actually it's suppose to be for your music. period. no photo, no video, no games. SJ said it himself that people wouldn't watch the small screens and then he comes out with a video ipod the next generation. He is going to make products that the market (consumers) want. If by seeing the iphone everyone screams, WE WANT THAT, then I guarantee that alot of it will be included. You'll just have to turn your added functions, "off"/ :)

I still think my suggestion of a full-screen iPod with either 60 or 100 GB hard drive, touchscreen controls, and the same physical size as the current 5.5G 80 GB iPod still makes the most sense, if only to maintain compatibility with current iPod docks everyone is selling out there. And unlike the iPhone, the 3.5mm headphone jack connector isn't recessed, avoiding compatibility problems with too many current headphones.

The new iPod will NOT offer Wi-Fi connectivity, if only to prevent some hacker from trying to damage your iPod through the Wi-Fi connection. However, the new iPod will allow videos streamed to the Apple TV device through the iPod data connector to a dock or other device connected to the AirPort Extreme 802.11n Wi-Fi base station.

I'd buy a device like this in a heartbeat

Not everyone needs an iPhone, or wants ATT as their cell phone carrier. I think Apple should address these people and an iPod WiFi, OS X Lite, enabled hand held would be amazing. The one thing that I love about my iPod is the 20GBs of space, I couldn't live without that.. possibly removing the cellular phone component would allow for a larger capacity drive/flash drive.

I'd but this right away. I have been resisting buying the iPod for all these years (although I have used one at work for a long time). I am not crazy about iPhone because I don't want to switch carriers and pay penalties, plus, in my opinion, it is priced too high. But, if something like what zim has described above, comes out, I'd be placing my order very soon.

You know, I was really lusting for the 6th gen iPod, but if they cripple it and don't offer Wifi/Safari, I don't think I'll be getting one. I mean, it has a better interface, but since I'm listening to music, what percentage of my time is actually spent looking at the screen? It doesn't make sense to me.
