Does anyone know if the 5C's are doing as well as the 5S's? None of the folks in my social circle are interested in getting a 5C nor are most folks at my work.

I was wondering there could have been a "rental section" in each of the apple stores. While you are waiting for your 5S, you could rent a 5C. And if the customer wants to keep the 5C, the rental cost is offset against the purchase price.

This alleviates the pressure on 5S online backlog and at the same time the brick and mortar stores see a lot of foot traffic and movement of the 5C models. Not so much pressure to stock 5S until the online backlog is at reasonable levels.

I am not too worked up over the 7-10 day thing - we all will get it by end of the first week of Oct but I feel for those who are banded into "Ships October". I know that Sprint folks are being quoted 4 to 6 weeks.

I ordered the 32 GB, iPhone 5S at 12:08 on launch night, I'm hoping mine moves to prepare to ship soon :)

Ordered 2 16gb Gold iPhone 5s on release night. Got email confirmation at 2:07 am cst (12:07 pst). It is still stuck on processing. Fearing there may be probelm with my order, I called apple up and they said golds will take a while to fill out since of the huge demand but nothing was wrong.

Even knowing my order is fine, the anticipation for the change in status leaves that nervous feeling in the stomach.

For those of you wondering...

The order I placed for a 32g gold ATT at 12:06 on launch day changed from processing to preparing for shipment yesterday just before 4:00pm PST. I received a tracking number overnight at 3:02am. The email stated that I would receive it on 10/03, but UPS says that it will arrive 10/02. So once the status changed from processing, everything else happened fairly quickly.:D

I'm just disappointed because I went to order my phone at 12:01 and literally kept trying to order for an hour but it kept telling me (both on my laptop and apple store app) that my account did not exist. Then when I woke up at 4:00 AM and tried it finally let me. So now I'm stuck on the 7-11 day thing and it still hasn't shipped. And I have to have it by the 15th so I can send in my 4s to get $$ and it has to ship to FL first cuz thats the billing address. I would go wait in an apple store line, but I'm a student and can't miss class for a new phone.... :/ Suck a fish.

Ordered my gold 32GB for TMobile at 12:06AM and it's still processing...

What I wonder is if T-Mobile is lower priority or not-- I noticed the T-Mobile "unlocked" versions were the very first gold iPhones to hit 7-10 days and then October estimates on launch morning. Wouldn't surprise me if they had less allocated to T-Mobile (the Apple store I was in line at definitely had fewer phones for T-Mobile), but hopefully "unlocked" aren't lower priority to locked, subsidized phones in terms of orders placed online. (Given that the hardware is 100% identical to the AT&T model, the only difference being whether it's locked to AT&T).

I know how you feel! I was ordering a Gold for my son's birthday and wanted to ship direct. (He's in CA I'm in MA) so right at the bell my iPad apple store app was in, and I got it in the cart with AppleCare. Then at checkout, it wouldn't let me change the shipping address. I though it was the app, so I got on my mac and did the same. At checkout, I got a message that AT&T requires sending to my wireless billing address! So I hit buy, and got the confirmation email at 3:12 ET. If I had known, the time would have been 3:04...... Given this thread, looks like it's not too far off.

Hang in there!

Anyone else hanging in Preparing for Shipment limbo like I am? Coworker already has his tracking info and we ordered simultaneously. I just hope it gets out before the weekend.

Yeah, I found out about that as well and went so far as to call ATT and get the family plan billing address changed, but because I'm at a college, my address is real funky and the conversion from ATT to Apple just wasn't having it. So off to FL it goes. Hopefully I will see it before the 15th... :(

Maybe our phones will be on the same pallet :) I'm currently preparing to ship too! Been like that since at least 2pm EDT.

Edit: Subrock, are you able to get anything on UPS' tracking with either your phone number or order number? Mine is showing nothing so far.

Nope, UPS has nothing for me, but then again, it can't find my case either when trying to track by reference.

Hmm, it's possible one or both are being sent by FedEx instead. I know my dad had ordered a mac mini and a keyboard and one was sent by UPS and the other by FedEx.

I just checked FedEx by reference number and I have nothing either.

We'll have to compare tracking numbers once we get them. Where is your phone ultimately going? Mine is going to Toronto, Canada.

I bought mine at a T-Mobile retail store on the 21st of September around 2pm PST. It was automatically set as a backorder and I haven't received any update not even an estimated shipping or delivery date.

I check my order at T-Mobile.com and it still says backorder

I've noticed some of you are tracking your iPhones a different way and it actually tells you estimated shipping date, what site is that?

Mines going to Victoria BC. I think it still might need to go through Ontario first though.

You might be right. I bet you it's going to at least go to Alaska, then Kentucky, then god knows where! They should put a little parachute on yours and toss it out when they fly over BC :p

Placed my order for a 64 SG 5S AT&T @ 12:09 PST & still in processing status. Grrrr!!! Have to travel the week that the phone's supposed to arrive so I'm freaking out- no one will be able to sign for it & carrier only holds it for 5 days before returning to Apple.
