According to multiple (3x calls) UPS reps, simply asking them why my phone is still sitting in Zhengzhou, all three of them reviewed my tracking number and came back with the response of going through Chinese Customs' security checks. All three assured me that once they leave China, and hit the USA that there would be no more delays, but that they've had a number of shipments in Zhengzhou delayed.
Ok. And you believe them.. Fair enuff

Hey everyone! I know you're all busy tracking your phones now.

I wanted to let you all know that my journey has come to an end. My phone was delivered this evening, and I've been busy setting it up since. All I can say is that Jet Black is gorgeous! The phone truly looks like one solid piece... it's hard to tell where glass ends and the aluminum back begins. I also love the new home "button". You will not be disappointed when you get yours. We all made a fantastic choice, as this was the colour to get!

For those of you with mid-October to November dates: if you can continue to bear with Apple, you will not regret it. Jet Black has the "wow factor" you just won't get with any other colour!

What an experience this has been, to say the least. I certainly did not expect to become this involved in a thread. Yet here we are! I enjoyed every moment spent here, cuz I don't know too many people IRL who are crazy about getting the newest iPhone every year!

Good luck to everyone! Cheers, until we meet again! :D

-Michael

It is true though. If youve been following this thread you'll notice everyone sits in China for 24-36 hours before moving to Korea and possibly being there for 24 hours as well. This pushes back everyones delivery by a day or two.

I've been reading every post. I just don't believe for a minute the Chinese customs has anything to do with the delays.

Well seeing as the phone is in UPS' hands, and not in Apple's, I'm inclined to believe it's not in Apple's control any more.

And you believe that Apple controls UPS' shipping after it's in UPS' hands?

Why is that so hard to believe? It's a well-known fact that our phones most years sit in UPS' warehouse on Monday of launch day week until they're put on the trucks Friday morning for delivery. In fact UPS and FedEx are given huge fines by Apple if they deliver the phones to our houses any earlier than Friday. Happens every single year - well proven fact.

Apple is always the puppet master

Mine was supposed to come tomorrow but now ups changed it to Friday.

Any chance it will still come tomorrow? It was in China last night.

I was supposed to get mine today but it didn't leave China until today. Now it has been in Korea all day, do we think it will be coming tomorrow or is it going to be sitting another day in Korea. This is getting really frustrating.

Ugh. I hope not. I want it by Friday at least.

I'd anticipate it shipping to Alaska tomorrow and being delivered Friday. Mine was in China for two days, Korea for a full day.

If that's what you want to believe, that's fine. Don't forget to put sugar in your kool-aid.

Zero chance, I'd say. Unless it leaves China at roughly 4-5am to head to Korea, I doubt we'll even get it Friday. (I'm in the same boat).

So did any Incheon 8:01pm arrival scans get a scan at AK?

**** no we didn't dude because the mid date October people are more important. This is the longest I've ever had to wait since the ****ing iPhone 4 when I started doing this. I wake up at 3 am est to be be one of the first to preorder and this is what I get in return. ****ing 3 days to ship a phone to me in Ohio. Preordered at 3:07 and I'm gonna be lucky to get it Friday. I love Apple but they can suck my dick right now I'm so pissed. Worst product launch I've ever experienced. Pathetic.

It hasn't updated since last night. So idk where it is now. Hoping tm it's moved to Alaska.

History is always our best teacher, Oridus. And Apple is always in control of delivery times.. for sure on launch week.. common knowledge, easily provable.. and I believe in the China hold up too... though I can't prove that one. Just doesn't even make logical sense that Chinese customs is in any way involved in phone shipments. Customs only affects incoming merchandise not outgoing.

I think the Apple IUP debacle made a bad inventory situation worse. Can't blame Apple for the delay in China though. What I DO find ridiculous is, most of the in-store demos that I saw in several stores were in colors and configurations nobody wants. No JB Pluses, mostly Gold, Rose Gold and Silver on display. Not even many Pluses, several stores didn't even have a matte Plus demo. Very weird launch with lots of inexplicable events occurring. I'm thinking this months VERY LONG Mercury Retrograde is to blame. :)

That's not true. People have posted in this thread UPS tracking info showing ZhengZhou to Louisville with no intermediate stops. So to say everyone's phone goes through Korea is not really right.

So what the date range seeing movement right now???

I'm 9/22, and I might get mine tomorrow, but it's still showing ZhengZhou for around 36 hours.

There are no flights from china to louisville. Peoples ups tracker shows that cause it didnt scan at the hubs it stopped at.

Echoing what strakt said above, those people went several days without any tracking updates.

Since Sunday-ish, the trend appears to be nearly ~48 hours in China and then ~20 or so hours in Korea before heading to HK/AK. I'll (hopefully) pick up mine tomorrow, 4.5 days after it was actually first scanned in China.

Omg. Hope not. Than I would only get mine Monday. Using that logic. Hoping st least Friday or Saturday

Varies slightly all the time, just the luck of the draw. Mine should be in Louisville in an hour but even then, I can't assume the rest of its transit from there will be hiccup-free.

Yes, we know this. As I said earlier in the thread, I believe UPS is using some extra chartered lift to send phones to Anchorage (look at ALL cargo carriers arriving in Anchorage from China) and then forwarding them on their additional lift from Anchorage to Louisville. They may not be getting scanned on chartered lift or indeed when they change planes in Anchorage.
