I present to you: The Christopher Nolan Theory

World famous director, Christopher Nolan (Inception, Interstellar, Memento, The Dark Knight) is the current CEO and head of iPhone Shipments for the world's largest package delivery company, UPS.

Working under the pseudonym "David Abney," Mr. Nolan skillfully diverts and delays shipments in novel and nearly impossible ways. Nolan's films are deeply rooted in the malleable nature of time and space - often utilizing labyrinthine plot structures and nonlinear narratives. Mr. Nolan's unique style is evident in nearly every stage of the 2016 iPhone 7 UPS shipment process. Challenging all 3 of Newton's laws of motion, and the current human understanding of space and time - Nolan frequently has shipments appear in multiple places at once - or in some cases, appear to ship from location A to location B, only to depart AGAIN from location A. Shipments are delayed - estimated arrival dates ebb and flow.

A thing as seemingly knowable as the current physical location of a package with a UPS tracking number is morphed into a subjective truth...an exercise in relativity and human perspective. "Where is my iPhone 7 Plus!?" you ask incredulously. "The question you should be asking is WHEN is your iPhone" responds UPS.

Ever the master of suspense, Mr. Nolan will no doubt continue to surprise and confound us - until that final reveal...when all will make sense. The night is darkest just before the dawn.
 
Mine is arriving later than the expected delivery date, so yes even by your criteria, I have a reason to complain.
 
Later than the date Apple gave you when bought it online? Seriously haven't seen that happen yet. Crazy.

Same, I'd bet he is taking about the initial quoted date by UPS when it first was scanned. Those have been unreliable and changed to information unavailable almost immediately.

Must be. Now that I think about it, the first day they were quoted by Apple is next Monday, so this guy is full of it.
 
Someone said they hoped to get their phone by thread page 200. I think they just lost that bet lol. It's not funny, but it is at the same time.
that was me... yup! still in Incheon...

and for whomever was pointing out that we're all getting our panties in a bunch is absolutely right, but just because we had a later original estimate doesn't mean we can't be frustrated with how this is playing out. I got up at 3am to place an order just like almost everyone else here, and due to my configuration, location, and probably a bit of luck, I've been marked as "shipped" since Monday, with Apple quoting me a delivery by tomorrow, 9/23. UPS has continually updated their timeframe from Wednesday, to Thursday, to "F U, I won't do what you tell me..."

Now, ALL of this is WAY earlier than my 10/4-10 original estimate, and there's no question that this is awesome that I'm (possibly) receiving a phone so early, but it's a bit disheartening that the logistics behind the scenes appear to be in utter chaos. Apple should have figured out a way to get these moving more quickly, as the bottleneck is clearly on the outbound side - so whether that means hiring additional planes (which Apple HAS done in the past!) or using multiple carriers (DHL and FedEx come to mind as two very competent and experienced logistics companies), it doesn't seem like this was handled as well as we've come to expect from Mr. Cook (who has been considered a master in understanding distribution), and possibly to a lesser extent, Ms. Ahrendts...

If this was the quote they got from Apple and their phone arrives on Monday instead of tomorrow, I can understand a groan of inconvenience. But the UPS estimated delivery date is not gospel. Mine changed four times.

I'll wind up getting my phone the first day of apples estimated delivery window. Perfect. Would have like it sooner, but, yknow, it's a phone.

Yeah but these are quotes from Apple. Not UPS. Which is ****ing ridiculous. I hate waiting for my phone don't get me wrong but what's the most frustrating is UPS has no idea when it will arrive and so I can't plan accordingly. A signature is required and I can't just leave a presigned delivery paper stuck to my door for 5 days. So yes we have a right to complain. A logistics company has no idea when you're phone is going to be delivered ? Pathetic.

Not following why that's ridiculous? What was your original delivery range? Opt to pick it up at a local UPS location if you're unable to be home for it.

So I'm scanning the flight data and history for UPS99:

It appears that the flight is daily (except Sundays) from Incheon to Anchorage, holds for about three hours, and then departs for Louisville. The flight generally departs Incheon around 10:45pm (6:45am PT) except for the Monday flights which leave around 7:30am.

Yet as others have pointed out, today's flight (September 22nd) from Incheon to Anchorage is missing, although the connecting flight on to Louisville is still scheduled.

Notice the same thing happened with the scheduled flight from Incheon to Anchorage on September 16th. Although the flight never went from Incheon to Anchorage, the connection to Louisville nevertheless proceeded as scheduled.

What does this mean? Who knows? But there appears to be evidence that the flight from Incheon did not depart as scheduled, that this has happened before, and they simply waited until the next day to fly from Incheon to Anchorage.

Aargh.

Delivery range doesnt mean **** esp since people with the SAME delivery range got their phone on monday after being shipped last friday.

If you're capable of tracking your exact location of your phone, you can figure it out.

It can be a UPS store, a pharmacy, any other store (that is authorized by UPS) you can drop off packages to be shipped or have packages delivered. That way you don't need to be home at the time of delivery. For context, I have 10 within one mile of me. Mine is being delivered there and I'll go there after work to pick up.

Yeah I have mychoice. I'm guessing you can't do that from the app though
I did it on the app. If you pick up from your local hub you can pick it up the day it reaches the states. If you pick another location you may have to wait until the next business day.
