Humans are literally – not figuratively – literally regressing to using hieroglyphics. This is getting out of hand.

This beyond ridiculous. What was a good idea has been expanded to the point of being useless and way to complicated to find what you are looking for if one even exists. A way to block out the ones you will never use would be a great start.

I really don’t need new emojis. I want my battery life back. Simple.

I can see the discussion in Apple’s boardroom: “Do we add this artwork to the phone, or do put those artists to use increasing battery life?” Put in that way, I think it’s obvious that one thing does not have anything to do with the other thing. I think your point is that you wish Apple would focus on battery life, but my argument is that adding more emojis is completely disconnected from that. Adding emojis just requires some artwork. Adding battery life involves electrochemistry as well as balancing iPhone weight and thickness and resistance to lighting up in flames.

Can we start making a disclaimer in the articles that loudly state that Apple DOES NOT MAKE THE EMOJIs, Unicode does, Apple simply conforms to the Unicode standard so that their stuff works with everyone else who also conforms to the Unicode standard.
The amount of "APPLE IS MAKING EMOJIS INSTEAD OF X" posts is exhausting to read.
Instead of sheepily adopting it, I thought they were to protect their customers to fake stuff, nonsense, fluff and bad taste

Not conforming to Unicode standards can cause huge problems in software development. It's in Apples, and the consumers best interest that this standard be adopted.

Apple has had the best emojis since the start, but now they've ruined it for everyone with all this extra nonsense. (They have a lot of influence in the consortium.)

You're glad you don't know all the older women in my family.

Because of your avatar, I read that in Trump's public speaking voice and broke into laughter.

But now there's something so much better, haha: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gun-sticker-pack/id1156649155?mt=8
Wonder if it's a coincidence that every gun on that is in CS:GO.
Hahahaha amazing!

Where's the uniqueness when all the faces have the same eye shape and nubby nose?

ahhhhhhh.......now if only the standard icons looked as good! Mr. Ive must not have seen the new emojis???

With the gazillions of emojis across my phone/ipad's emoji selection menu, it's amazing how many obvious choices they don't have. I wanted to send some sort of baby emoji along with a message to daughter, who just had a baby, and was surprised there were none. The closest thing was a mother holding a baby. No fathers holding babies, no babies within the countless family unit options. Moral: Tim hates babies.

Apple makes their Emoji designs and implements support. That's all of the difficult part, which is why the emojis either lag behind or look like crap or don't render properly on other platforms. Apple also pumps resources into other Emoji-related things like their AR filters. The Unicode standard says nothing other than what each character is supposed to be.

Even if you only count the character assignment as "making the emoji," Apple also actively influences the Unicode consortium, and they have a lot of say. So I think it's fair to say Apple is at the very least responsible for the new emojis.

Hey guys, can you believe some people think Apple can only either fix bugs OR make new emojis?? Scary, I know, but some people just can't think logically.

These people can’t walk and chew gum at the same time so of course they don’t think Apple can do two things at once also.

Lord, you guys aren’t serious, right?

How is this evidence they aren’t focused on everything or that this is more important than something else? Without all the facts, you’re just throwing stuff out there.

Apple is crushing competition and printing money. They are laser focused and this changes none of that. If anything, it adds to it.

I’m convinced the people who say these things don’t really believe it. People just can’t be that stupid. I think they do it for attention and considering there’s probably twenty + people in this thread saying “glad Apple has its priorities right” there are apparently a lot of people starving for attention.

Too many Emoji's. You'd be there all day..... The idea to send a message shouldn't take that long..

I hate 'em, but good to see the Australia kangaroo made it :D

Just because they don’t agree with you, doesn’t make them wrong, hateful, racist, etc. Quit treating your fellow human like they need to excuse their self for having a personal opinion.

When the expressed viewpoint is to denigrate representation of other races and suggest its just fine the way it was before (where one race was prominently represented and others weren't), um yeah, it is wrong, hateful and racist. Just because someone has an opinion, doesn't mean that opinion is worthy of respect. Quit treating your fellow human beings like they deserve to have any personal opinion respected regardless of how awful and hateful it is.

We haven’t had enough emojis of faces with hearts. No seriously, I mean it. I have recklessly overused the Heart Eyes and Face Throwing A Kiss emojis, when all I wanted to say was Smiling Face With 3 Hearts. Thank you, Apple! 

For the billionth time: Tim Cook/Apple does not make emoji!

Emoji are designed and and standardised by the Unicode Consortium – and that includes the various skin colours. Apple only implements these standards.
I am a black jew with red hair and still waiting...

Any resource dedicated to more Animoji is a waste.
