My gf is quite excited about the Pre so we're going to wait in line now. It's 6:03AM now and we're going to the Emeryville, CA Sprint store. Not sure what to expect in the form of lines. I waited last year for the iPhone 3G @ 6AM and I think I was number 47 in line @ the ATT Store on 34th st in NYC. That store opened @ 9AM. The Sprint store opens at 10AM. I was curious if anyone else is heading out to a store. If so, post your pics / war stories here!

I will snap a few pics of the line / device and post them here when we arrive!

And I know this isn't 100% iPhone related, but... it's the newest iPhone competitor... which makes it related! I'll be updating this post in a half hour or so. Wish me luck!

EDIT: Here's a link to my waiting in line pics / first impressions!

My girlfriends sister just got it, they got there early but the line was only like 15 people long at open.

The pre looks nice and all... but the new iphone with 3.0 comes out like 2 days later... why not wait and be sure instead of 'pre'mature ejaculamation.

It's 10 now... on the east coast anyway. Does that mean I'll see Pres on the streets today? lol, nobody even has Sprint in NYC. It's all Verizon or AT&T.

I think the fact that people even queued at all for the phone is a good testament to the feat Palm has managed to achieve. Thus far the phone has gotten mostly glowing reviews...people like AND people are queuing for it despite the lack of ads

So it's 7:30am now here on the west coast. There are just under 20 people in line. We are number 5. Got here around 6:30am. This looks to not be as much of a craze as the iPhone 3G launch. I wonder how many Pres they have. I went to get bagels, but the sprint employees put some chairs outside. Other than that, pretty uneventful. All men in line except for my gf + one other lady.

Also, I totally forgot that stores are opening @ 8am for the launch! Glad I don't need to sit here for two more hours!!

ur gf is a geek?

Hmmm... I'd say WAY more geeky than most girls... But... Not a geek :)

From what many other media outlets are reporting, most Sprint stores have over 100, while Best Buy and Radio Shack stores have like 5-10 each.

Apple have a much larger horde of followers than Palm has & there hasn't been as much buzz with in the media.

I think its great people are out waiting. Go Palm!
