Actually though, the green bubbles suck. Group chats are always a ****show when there are Android users in them. And you know the person with green bubbles isn't getting messages on his computer.

I didn’t even know people on Android (as in SMS) could join a group chat LOL

I logged in for the first time in ages, to say the same but you beat me to it. I am not going to take anything seriously from a survey that says >40% of teenagers own a rolex.

Even if that is supposed to be purchase intention, it's still nonsense.

It only makes sense as, if I was about getting a free watch, which kind would they like, and kids answer the most expensive thing that comes to mind.

and with an average household income of $66k???? i made that much when i was 25 and could still NEVER afford a rolex if my priorities were straight. that's some irresponsible spending, stealing, or terrible surveying.

With about 2 billion smartphone users... and only 100 million Macs... it's safe to say that MOST people on Earth aren't getting messages on their computers.

:p
Yeah, but I almost never message people who don't own a Mac (not because they don't own Macs, just because most people I know have one).

Unfortunately, they can. And once you get added to one, you can't leave.

It's sad. I miss the days of Google Talk when it didn't matter what you were sitting in front, you could talk to people. Now, WhatsApp requires my phone be on, connected to a strong wifi/cellular connection before it sends anything on my PC. Apparently, I'm one of the few oldies who prefers to use a keyboard to talk to people. I don't know how kids today spend hours typing with their thumbs. 3x slower than what I can do on a keyboard (150wpm+). Then again, most of what I type doesn't include emoticons or smileys or .... whatever kids are sending today.

It’s definitely an American thing. I know from my relatives in Europe who own an iPhone, iMessage is an option with some, but not really preferred. FB Messenger (with older relatives) and WhatsApp (with the younger crowd) is what’s IN there. The green/blue bubble thing is mainly a thing among teens and teen wannabes in the US.

It's not an American thing because most everyone I know on iOS use Hangouts which is superior to iMessage. iMessage doesn't have cloud sync, doesn't do native SMS/MMS and 10-digit in/out-bound calling without cell plan, no multi-line support, isn't cross-platform compatible and doesn't work from desktop browser. Hangouts is closer to a business communication solution while iMessage is more of a toy.

I miss Hangouts. Sadly, everyone I know has left it for WhatsApp :(. Hangouts is great though I wonder when Google will shut it down.

iPhones are a thousand-dollar cover charge to a social network that is popular with children.

Just like you had to buy a Blackberry to join BBM. That didn't make Blackberries the best phones.

Recall that these are the same people eating laundry soap and snorting condoms.

iMessage has definitely been more geared toward teen communication lately, which is hurting it with adults. Of course, there’s no iMessage app for Android so other multi-platform communication apps often make more sense as to not unintentionally exclude friends/relatives using an Android phone.

If this says 12% of teenagers had a Apple Watch in 2018, does that mean 41% of teenagers have a Rolex? Something doesn't smell right.

The key part you are missing is upper class kids... "12 percent of upper income teens said Apple Watch"

I've never seen anyone in high school or college use Hangouts. Facebook Messenger is easily the most popular.

Most teens have either Rolex or Patek Phill

Absolutely, either a Rolex or an upper class teen, a Patek Philippe brand.

Game Over, Google. Game Over.

82% of the next generation of consumers is growing up on Apple products with no sign of waning. Android doesn’t stand a chance.

The power of blue bubbles...
