People are making jokes about price, but I assume this will carry the same price as last year's model. That was the first major iPad price increase in years. I don't think they will try to push an increase through every year.

I think the big question is whether the new budget model will be last year's 9.7" Pro (with the iPad Air 2 discontinued) or vice versa. The Air 2 is still a really capable device for most tablet applications.

To confuse customers even more, 4 different sizes, iPad, iPad Air, iPad Pro, 3 different colours, what more....
If people are confused by 4 sizes of iPads, then I would suggest they (those people you're referencing) invest in coloring books. The rest of us will be okay. Let's not confuse Apple offering "confusing" (they aren't confusing btw) sizes with customers being confused by what Apple offers. They aren't the same thing. The buying public has been able to differentiate product choices forever. If they can pick a TV from the 298,457,125,786 size/resolution/smart capabilities on offer, they can choose an iPad. We're talking about commodity consumption devices, not DNA sequencers.:D

It would be really great if it had the same resolution as the 12.9" Pro, as that would mean that developers would have more incentive to update their apps to support that resolution as opposed to having to scale the app when running on the larger iPad. Some games designed for 9.7" could really be so much better if they get updated to support the higher resolution. Not just in clarity, but in size of elements in the UI.

Is that really true for iPads? I haven't of people fighting to get an iPad in a long time.

It's true for any Apple product when you consider the past few launches for new products. If this iPad offers features the larger 12.9 has and incorporate that into a smaller form factor, aside from any unknown additional features, it will sell out during preorder.

I for one personally am awaiting to see what this iPad has to offer. I almost upgraded to the 9.7 Pro from My Air 2. This Keynote is quickly approaching and rumors will likely Continue to flourish.

i guess the this one will cost the same as current 9.7" pro, and lower the price for the new 9.7"

Believe me, there are plenty of less smart (Tech wise) people.

You do realize Apple tends to make new ones every year right? The same thing that every electronics manufacturer does as well....

Do you get angry beyond belief when purchasing cars? Appliances?

I think you've taken my post too seriously / literally

I usually pass down my previous ipads to family members. Im on the pro now and so far i like it. Although i do less productive things on it because the apps are so pricey that make good use of the ipad. I just browse houzz.com or use the sketch apps. still love flipboard on it.

but it is a bit heavy for long periods

there will be no 4 sizes ...ipad mini will be not be updated...so we are left with 3 sizes 9.7" 10.5" and 12.9"

If it was just as easy as you say... you want the best camera with lightning? Get the 9,7". You want the largest display and the good camera? Not possible. But you want the largest display and USB3 transfer speed for SD card? Get the 12,9". You want USB3 transfer speed and the 9,7" screen? Not possible. You want the wider color garmut display and 9,7"? Possible. But you want the 9,7" and 4GB RAM? Not possible.
The screen sizes are not the problem, the problem are the confusing features of each device which give you disadvantages however you decide:
-take the Mini and get an outdated device
-same for the Air2
-take the 9,7" and miss the 4GB RAM and the USB3 transfer speed of the lightning port
-take the 12,9" and miss the wider color garmut screen and the better camera

I think there's quite a point to see confusion in the lineup.

If it still comes with Lightning instead of USB-C it'll be a deal-breaker for me.

But no rush, I can wait until Apple gives this thing what it deserves: power-user features.

Then again, my graphic artist daughter would love it. One more tool in her (already impressive) arsenal.

I am happy with my iPad Pro 9.7, but would still check out a 10.5 inch model.

I really hope they do replace the Lightning cable with USB-C. That opens up a whole new realm of peripherals to the iPad.

Yup, I prefer the old Good-Better-Best Apple days, when you bought the best you paid top dollars but it was the best you could get.
Now you pay Top Dollars for the iPad Pro 12.9 yet it does not have all the best Hardware/Features.
