Would love to see some type of pencil update as well. Although not sure what that might be other than different tips.

An eraser? I think this would be very welcome by many users.
Better charging method? Sticking it in the end of my iPad Pro looks stupid. Keeping up with the charging adapter is stupid.
Clip? If nothing else, to prevent it from rolling!
Increased resolution, shading levels, and reduced lag? I don’t think it “needs” these, but would be good selling / marketing features.

Do you really believe Apple will drop the Mini, it's a very convenient size for lots of people.
yes for sure...since the iphone plus is getting lots of love...since apple is testing an 5.8" Oled iphone, is not such a room for a 7.9" ipad mini
They will reduce the size for the 9.7" next year i guess so it will be more compact

I posted about this "math" on the last iPad Pro article, so it obviously makes sense to me :D. I've the 12.9" iPad Pro and I hate its size, this will be hard to resist for me.

Remind me when you are right, I'll buy you a pint of beer.

But, you won't....:p

This is one of two reasons to buy again a bigger iPad than the iPad mini. Reason number two is a professional iOS system with more Desktop-like features, that supports Trackpad (or Mouse), a Shell and full Xcode.
With Apps that look like Desktop-Apps when switched to Desktop mode and look like iOS apps when switched back to Tablet mode. And Apps for special purpose: some apps work only in Desktop-mode when there is no alternative for Tablet mode and vice versa.

And an Operating System, which can be configured and backup like macOS (rsync, config files).

iOS in it's current version is a toy for media consumption. Even marking text in Webpages is like a game. Sometime it works, most of the time it doesn't work.

This is the iPad Pro I want. The 9.7" is the ideal physical size for a tablet, but in terms of what you can do on screen it is too limited by the interface size. Having what is on screen on the 12.9" iPad Pro on a 10" screen would be perfect.

The only other thing...please give it a USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 port. Please Apple. The "pro" part of iPad Pro is completely hindered by the clunky methods of getting content on and off the device. USB-C with external drive support would solve that.

I took the width of the ipad mini, multiplied it by the speed of light, divided by the number of planets and moons in our solar system, divided again by the number of days since the last MacPro update and subtracted the number of days since Job's death. Eureka, I got the same number!!! So this is confirmed, the planets and steve have aligned. :D

On a more serious note. I would like to see a larger ipad to match a 13 or 15 inch screen, but then only when there is little to no bezel and again only when iOS and the apps on it are able to perform the same as on the macbooks.

surprised they didn't create a dock to charge the pencil

I just don't care anymore on what apple will release next... Always the same old thing, pricier, thinner and with less functionality...

This makes sense. If this new iPad does end up having the same resolution as the 12.9" iPad Pro, maybe it will give Facebook a reason to finally update their app to support this resolution.

If people are confused by 4 sizes of iPads, then I would suggest they (those people you're referencing) invest in coloring books. The rest of us will be okay. Let's not confuse Apple offering "confusing" (they aren't confusing btw) sizes with customers being confused by what Apple offers. They aren't the same thing. The buying public has been able to differentiate product choices forever. If they can pick a TV from the 298,457,125,786 size/resolution/smart capabilities on offer, they can choose an iPad. We're talking about commodity consumption devices, not DNA sequencers.:D

That's just not true. Apple used to have dozens of Macs in their lineup in the late 90's. Steve Jobs and put them all in the trash except for four. Non-tech people want simple solutions with clear choices. When there are many, they usually end up buying a product that isn't right for them. There should never been more than 3 sizes. Small, Medium, Large. And I would really say more than two is too many.

If it still comes with Lightning instead of USB-C it'll be a deal-breaker for me.

But no rush, I can wait until Apple gives this thing what it deserves: power-user features.

Then again, my graphic artist daughter would love it. One more tool in her (already impressive) arsenal.
Ask the disappointed MBP users about the wait. It stings :(

So, you must have inside sources on what the March release will hold, aside from what we already know now. I'm guessing you didn't read the article then.

Anyone who purchased the 9.7" Pro should have known that a new design was on its way.

Yeah, and it's precisely the reason I recently bought one at $150 off.

As for edge to edge display, I'm still seeing this as a potential issue for holding it in portrait mode. Does no one touch the existing side bezels when holding it with these larger models?
