Wow, so the Kindle fire gets some slight buzz and the doom mongers are out urging Apple to save themselves by producing a 7.85" iPad.

Well it's not happening. I could list many reasons why but I think it's safe to conclude it would be an abomination that goes against everything that Apple has built itself upon recently.

Anyone hoping to buy an iPad mini should start holding their breath about now.

Apple is beyond all such nonsense.
iPad mini will never, ever, ever happen. Mark my words

Firstly, what makes you think a smaller device will be cheaper to produce? Why is a 7.85" device more likely to cost $249 than $549?

Secondly when you consider Apple make next to no money at all on the base units why would they produce an even cheaper device?

There has never been an iPhone mini and there never will be an iPad mini. I'm willing to bet the iPhone 5 won't have a larger screen than any of the older iPhones.

There is no money to be made from the mini and it will kill off the lucrative iPad. iPad mini would be commercial suicide for their current line up. Why would they do that?

You isheeple are unbelievable. You think Apple don't know the difference between a fad and a revolution? The kindle is a piece of junk as is the 7" inch galaxy tab. Apple couldn't produce a $250 piece of junk if they wanted to. It's not in their DNA.

If Apple will produce that device and I'm gonna laugh at your sorry faces. Dont worry i wont laugh at you because deep down you all know as well as i do it aint never gonna happen.

I hope they make this thread a sticky so when I'm having a bad day and need a laugh I can come visit and poke fun at the loonies who don't understand when Steve jobs himself said no, he meant no, and not just not yet.

Dusting off this thread. So sad it wasn't a sticky like the OP hoped for! I'm more excited to hear from the OP after next Tuesday than I am for an iPad mini. Of course, the odds of the OP coming back to eat his words are about 10 billion to 1.

You insensitive fools!
Just pay a moment of silence for our poor friend who is probably now broke from all the bets he placed.

:) a lot of "know-it-alls" will be proved wrong.

These are strange choices in this poll. "Save Apple From Itself"? Was Apple struggling when the poll was made?

Apple stock has earned me more money than I've paid for iDevices.

Jobs planned the iPad to be the iPad and there was no room in his vision for any iPad mini. If cook feels this will be a neat way to fill Jobs' shoes and make his mark I think this is the beginning of the end of Apple as we know. It would be a sign that they'll just become another Samsung style hardware manufacturer churning out every device for every whim hoping to hit a winner every now and then.

Edit: Ive added a poll because polls are cool.

Do you need every product Apple sells and are you forced to buy it or do you only buy the ones you want? I'm guessing most people only buy the ones that suit their needs and aren't bothered by the fact that apple makes products they have no intention of buying. I for one, have zero intention of every buying a $1,000 cinema display but I won't rant and rave that Apple shouldn't make them simply because I don't want one. Apple is a smart company and sees there is consumer demand for the product and like any good company, has done some due diligence and has apparently determined they can make a profit and it would be good for Apple for them to make one. Keep in mind that Apple isn't doing this to replace the current iPad but to supplement it.

Should GM only make one size car? Should Pizza Hut only make 1 size pizza? Should Samsung only make 1 size TV? If Apple has determined it's good business to make more than 1 size iPad why isn't that okay?

Well, I guess what the OP was really saying is that 7.85 would be an abomination, but 7.9 would be ok.

I PM'd the OP to come back to the thread for a friendly visit. Crickets. I can't imagine why!
