The most annoying thing about using an iPhone in my car (a Mini Cooper) is, it always starts playing the same song no matter what I've been listening to. I can be listening to Spotify, an Audible book or other track in music app with headphones, i get into car, plug into USB and the first song starting with A, By artist starting with A on album starting with A begins to play. If iOS 9 sorts this I'll be happy

Yeah, I get Chopin's A-dur Andantino fed to me every-single-time I plug in the USB in my Volvo.

The car known to be safe becomes not so safe after I hear it and start frantically tapping on the screen to get to my Recently Played playlist instead. Siri should know that by now, but no, Chopin is exactly what I need in my car. Sheesh...

this seems ok..

By the time self driving cars come in, all this "niffy features to prevent distraction" will be useless, since the car controls itself... u just sit back, with your feet on the peddles, and everyone will be able to do everything with their phone, they previously needed this features for

It does that already on my old iPhone 4S in iOS 8 just under the weather but over my calender appointments on the screen that you pull down from the top.

But i like that they improve on it! Looking forward to this Apple! Would be great if it would do this against the appointments in the calender, for instance "23 minutes to the gym. Better get a move on! And take this route instead of your usual due to road works."
Actually it does. May be part of ios 9, but I thought it was available in earlier versions. Anyway, when you set up a calendar appointment, one of the alert options is to set it for "Time to Leave."

Yes! I have the same issue, and my problem is that my music has a song simply called A, that is just a background track of I Got Rhythm changes in the key of A.

Proactive is underwhelming for me.. Google Now is way far ahead and although I understand Apple is slowly building Proactive up overtime I wish they would've done a little bit more than what it does now.. But that's just me. It's a good start.

While I agree that it's nice to know the Proactive Suggestions supposedly don't require sharing data with Apple, I'd like to ask you: Where do you think the following verbiage comes from? Google, MS or Apple?
"By using any location-based services on your <redacted> Device, you agree and consent to <redacted> and its partners', licensees' and third party developers’ transmission, collection, maintenance, processing and use of your location data and queries to provide and improve such products and services."
From the way you ask I'd guess Apple? But what is so special about this policy? Obviously Apple has to collect location data to provide location services.

But anyway, that's besides the point. I am under no illusion that Apple is any better or "morally superior" to Google or MS. But the technical approach does matter. Google and MS (since Windows 10) pull as much of the user's personal information into the cloud as they can. Apple apparently tries to do as much of the processing as possible locally on the device (if you can believe their statements at the iOS 9 presentation). I much prefer the latter approach as it minimizes the amount of data that will leak into the cloud. I don't trust privacy policies. They are typically full of loopholes and can be changed at any time (just look at the drastic changes Microsoft made to its privacy policy along with the release of Windows 10). Personal information that isn't collected in the first place cannot be stolen, abused or misused.

Every morning when I plug in my headphones, it opens up the music app. Simple enough.

Proactive also noticed I walked in to a Starbucks and opened up the app so I could pay. It was a nice gesture and I'm looking forward to seeing other proactive features

It told me the other day i had to leave in order to get to my destination in time. The idea is really good, but i am not driving. Nobody in any bigger cities are. They need to make it cycling/walking friendly.

I agree. Used Apple Maps to go from NH to DC, and it was great. Same routes offered as Google Maps. Even alerted me to delays, and re-routes.

Not sure what the reason for all the hate is about...?

google maps always displays that my arrival time will be sooner. i don't compare the routes, but that number keeps me using google, even though it could just be a little too optimistic

No matter how much you like the song, you'll end up hating it

This is one of the things I am looking forward to! Here is hoping that it is not neutered or severely lacking when it is released. If it can't do the basic items like what is mentioned

This is one of the big things I am hoping for! That is super cool!

This happens to me too but only in my wife's car but not the one I drive. I think it's a Bluetooth protocol thing in the car and it is SUPER annoying.

I am very skeptical if I will like this feature. Seems a bit creepy on one side and uncontrollable on the other. I like to control precisely what my computer does and why he does it.

Just disable the "Suggested Apps" feature in "Handoff & Suggested Apps" and you're good.

I've gotten around this, though, by adding a song to my library that is called "A1 - Silence" and is 60 seconds of silence giving me enough time to change it to something else.
