Really happy with mine. As expected, I'm really liking the feel of the full glass back; very much enjoying the extra heft, and solid feeling - but most importantly the grip it provides. I primarily use my phone's without a case, so it's just a better experience overall.

Something about the 6-7 series just didn't feel right. I wouldn't quite say cheap, but it just didn't feel as solid. This brings that back. I have the iPhone 8, non-plus.

Well, I have played today with an 8 space gray for 2 hours and still think that the 8 is the one that feels cheap. 7 matte black is classier. More elegant. More modern. The guy with the space grey 8 (cousin’s boyfriend) even thought so after perusing my 7 matte black. What a disappoint when I put his 8 in direct sunlight. Looked very, very cheap.

Yeah I agree that the Space Grey color in direct sunlight is the definition of boring. Like I really didn't expect it to be so plain lol. Looks OK indoors, but it looked practically identical outdoors. Was expecting a little more, but IDC too much about color as long as it has the black face.

The glass back feels premium to me, whereas the aluminium back looks cheap. The space grey in particular is stunning in daylight, a lovely deep grey colour.

No direct experience with the 7, although I have held my sister's 7+. Nice phone, likely what lead me to the 8+. I put them all in cases and don't dwell too much on appearance. I've thoroughly enjoyed using each iPhone with every release I've had. I've liked aesthetic aspects of each of them, some more than others, and have enjoyed the subtle changes in appearance from 4s through 8. The 4s was one of my favorites, I loved the glass on that version which may explain why I really like it on the 8+. There's a premium feel in the hand once again. Space Gray on my 6s seemed a little bit darker, I thought it was great! With the 8+, it looks a little lighter and I actually like the way the space gray bleeds through the glass.

I'm beginning to think that different shades of iPhone 8 space grey exists. When I first saw the 8 at an Apple store I didn't like it so much, but I didn't think that looked cheap as I wrote in another message here. But today, with the 8 outside, direct sunlight, it looked like the one in this video. Dull, cheap, I don't know... when I put my 7 matte black side by side, even the owner of the 8 thought mine was looking better.

My thoughts so far... I upgraded from the 7+ to 8+.

Battery life is amazing, on iOS 10 my 7+ went through about 10% battery per hour with usage. After iOS 11 it was more like 15% per hour. On the 8+ i’m going through about 6-7% per hour.

Camera is great. Many new features.

Love the glass back and the screen seems to look better.

Overall a great experience. I love wireless charging, I can throw my phone down on it and pick it up and use it when I need to. I’m very happy and would say the overall zippiness of the phone is amazing. I think iOS 11.1 will make it even more refined. The X looks great but I think I’ll sit this one out and wait until next fall for a design that is more refined with the bugs worked out.

I upgraded from 6s to 8+.
What I'm happy about -> battery life, true tone, telephoto camera, speaker, wider keyboard
Not happy -> difficult to fit into my pants pockets, not so easy to use one handed
Overall I'm happy about the switch and I don't care about X. I may switch to a plus version of the X in the future but for now I'm really fond of my 8+

Yeah, okay. I think you're just trying to justify sticking with your 7. the space grey 8 certainly does not look cheap or dull. ;)

I had the 6s + preordered the 8, after about a week I traded the 8 in for the Plus and am very happy with it! The 8 was convenient at times but the Plus for me fits better in my day to day use. I have the “gold” and have to say this is my favorite color iPhone so far

Got my Iphone 8 Plus on Saturday, love the battery life, ive used it for 2 + hours with 8 hours standby today and the battery is at 89%, my iphone 6 i was having to charge twice a day, 3 times a day after the ios 11 update.

Havent had time to play with and explore all the features but so far im happy with my choice.

Feeling very tempted to sell my 7 and get the 8+. Really craving a larger screen and a better battery. Can’t get myself to spend the money when my 7 is still working great though. :(

I came from a 7+ and wasn't planning to upgrade. In fact, I pre-ordered then cancelled my pre-order then wound up going in store 2 weeks later and getting the 8+.

I LOVE the camera - love it! I have already taken some of the most gorgeous pics of my grandchildren (of course, gorgeous subjects do help - ;-P). I love the portrait mode and am excited to learn more about what all this thing can do that I know I'm not taking advantage of.

The display is really nice and I like that I now have true tone (something else I never thought I'd care about until I upgraded my 12" iPP to the 2nd gen).

I'm excited about wireless charging, though I DO need to get me a wireless charging accessory. I'm planning to hold out for the apple one though since it looks like it may do the phone AND watch.

I think my main reason for going ahead with the upgrade was that I really didn't love the X, didn't want to give up my touch ID, and didn't want to wind up in that same boat next year and have a 2yo phone. At least with this one, I know I can skip next year, still be really happy with my features, and have a really good phone (plus I LOVE this form factor and want to have one as long as possible).

All in all, really happy I went ahead and upgraded.

I had the iPhone 7, was planning on trying for the X. BUT, i was at the apple store the other day and finally saw the iPhone 8 in the gold variation. 10 minutes later, i was walking out with a brand new iPhone 8 Plus Gold. It was just so beautiful.

I have the 8 (silver 64GB) for a month now. My experience with it so far:

It's blazing fast, has a fantastic camera, true tone took me some getting used to but I love it now, it's a joy to listen to music through the speakers and battery life is very good too. I get around 7 to 8 hours of usage on a full charge and standby time is amazing as always with iPhones (around 0.5% battery drain per hour).

I like that it's so easy to use one-handed and that it's pocket friendly. The glass on the back feels sturdy and grippy. In fact, it's so grippy that I even have the courage to use it naked for one or two days a week:D

The iPhone 8 has everything I'm looking for in a phone, so I'm more than happy with it!

Only downside so far is that the glass still scratches pretty easily, especially towards the bottom edges on the back. That said, I got the white/silver version for a reason, since it mostly hides them. Performance has been great, although there is an odd landscape bug that crashes messages every now and then. Also, App Store still kind of sucks for downloading updates.

Overall, i'm very, very happy with my new iphone 8 (battery life is amazing, in love with wireless charging and the "homebutton").

However there seems to be an issue i noticed in the past week with the camera of my device.
basically everytime i take a photo and there's just some slight movement of an object/person, the picture turns out to be kind of blurry - even when the light conditions are near perfect. i never had a problem like this with my previous 6s.

did anyone else notice something similar?
