It's been about a year since the iPhone 7 was released without a headphone jack.

Some people, myself included, were disappointed at this development. Others saw it as progress and didn't mind the omission, or despite their disappointment, purchased an iPhone 7 regardless.

A year ago on this day a friend and I wagered a cold beer whether or not anyone would still care. I believed people would still be disappointed at the omission while he believed people would no longer care.

Please help us resolve our wager.

Do you care that the iPhone 7 came without a headphone jack?

I attached a lightning adapter to each of my two pairs of wired headphones, and never gave the lack of a headphone jack a thought after that.

I don't own a 7. But I was one that cheered the loss of the headphone jack.

I don't really use headphones anyway. I can count on one hand the number of times I've used a headphone jack in the last year so the loss of the jack, even if I did care, is hardly relevant to me.

I didn't while I prkmarily used my 7, but having gone back to 6s now, it is better to have vs not have.

Very handy when charging and using headphones!

The problem with your wager is everyone uses their phones differently. Some people will care. Others will not

I was not looking forward to the loss of the headphone port, but in the past year I think I found myself in a total of one situation where I "needed" it.

I already had Bluetooth headphones and in my car, I attached the lightning adapter to my old wired headphones, and I also have the included lightning headphones. It was a much easier transition than I thought.

Hell even my father, who hates tech change and complains to no end about the lack of optical drives in laptops, didn't even notice his 7 lacked the headphone port until I told him.

When I bought my 7+, everyone who had a 6 or 6s kept saying some mumbo jumbo about 'can't charge and listen to music at the same time'.

I've never encountered that problem because I always keep my phone at a reasonable charge %.

Worst case scenario I'll play music through speakers while charging :D

It's changed my charging habits (I've become a little more aware than I'd like) and it's a tad annoying having to purchase yet more cables (and such a waste) but it's not the end of the world, though I do wish I could charge and listen to music at the same time without buying those ridiculous looking AirPods or some other subpar, overpriced, unrefined Bluetooth earbuds.

I still have an appreciation for my wired headphones and I do use my AirPods frequently during fitness. I'm appreciative that Apple provided the adapter to use your wired headphones with the iPhone 7. But what I miss most, was sometimes I would charge my device and use my wired headphones at the same time. To me, that was a direct benefit.

I guess I'd fall on the I care side. I have a 7 and it's been a great phone, but I do find times when the lack of a headphone jack is inconvenient. Charging while listening to music is nice. I enjoy listening to radio margaritaville during the day (through the web site) and, although I love my AirPods, when I listen to RM, every time I take one of the AirPods out of my ear to talk to someone or whatever, I have to restart the music stream, which is inconvenient. I've resorted to keeping an old iPhone at work that I can listen to RM on with wired headphones.

Given the choice between two iphone 7;'s., one with a headphone jack & one without, I'd pick the one with the jack. Given the choice between an iPhone 7 without a headphone jack and a 6S with the jack, I'd still choose the 7, as it's a great phone overall.

I still miss it and hate having to use the dongle to use my favourite pair of headphones . Also I hate the AirPods. Atrocious is an understatement when it comes to sound quality.

I have the airpods and even if i didnt the included headphones or adapter would have served their purpose. I have never needed to charge or use the headphones at the same time.

I'm on the don't care camp. I've dropped my iPhone so many times because I had to move while the phone was charging and I forgot to either unplug the headphones or unplug the charging cable. So happy when bluetooth headphones with halfway decent battery life and sound finally showed up.

I was initially a bit annoyed that Apple did away with the headphone jack. However, after getting a pair of AirPods and then Bose Bluetooth headset, I couldn't care less. I actually prefer wireless headsets now.

Well I don't care because after years of new iPhones, I've yet to take the headphones out of their cases. I have zero music on my phone... I'm not the average user, but there are folks like me out here. :)

There is still audiobooks, podcasts, lectures, YouTube, movies....:)
