Do you care that the iPhone 7 came without a headphone jack?

  • Yes, I still wish the iPhone 7 would have come with a headphone jack.

  • No, I never did and/or bluetooth/lightning-adapter are fine for my usage.

The main reason I stuck with my 6S.

Still considering waiting until 2018 to replace it because of the jack issue.

(Not that it will come back, but that I think by then I finally won't miss it that much.)

Yes, it still bothers me that it doesn't have a headphone port. But I just use the included adapter. My other devices all have headphone ports but it is what it is I guess.

There is still audiobooks, podcasts, lectures, YouTube, movies....:)
And TV.. I don't use headphones for anything ever LOL. if that changes, I can still go get them out of the box and plug them in after charging if needed. I just can't see a "need" in my lifestyle to charge and use headphones at the same time. iPad is sitting right here too. :)

Well I don't care because after years of new iPhones, I've yet to take the headphones out of their cases. I have zero music on my phone... I'm not the average user, but there are folks like me out here. :)
Lol, given all my parents, aunts and uncles are the same as you, I wouldn't be at all surprised if that behavior is more common than expected.

Mind, I actually do have my stock headphones still in the case/box but that's because I had a pair of IEMs that I used before. Now, I'm using Bose SoundLink wireless headphones and will probably get AirPods soon now that one can actually find them in stock.

Don't care. Never cared. Slightly glad to see tech move forward, but really don't care.

I've been using Bluetooth headphones since I bought my first iPhone 3G years ago. I don't remember using it much when I had my 4S, and I explicitly recall using the headphone jack only two times on my 6+ over the almost 3 years I owned it - both times when I was in a rental car and didn't want to navigate the menus of the factory installed stereo.

With the adaptor you can still plug in headphones so why should it matter.

Here's my usage and why it matters to me:
- Headphones I use at the gym. With an adapter this isn't a big deal.
- Headphones I use at work. With a second adapter, this isn't a big deal.
- 3.5mm connection to the stereo in my older sports car. Okay, up to adapter number three.
- Headphones I keep in my cars just in case I want to go shopping or go for a walk and listen to something. Consider them "emergency pairs" that are inexpensive, seldom used, but just in case. More adapters or have to carry a single adapter everywhere?

I'm not sure I want to have that many adapters and I'm not sure I want to switch from quality wired headphones that cost a fraction of what quality wireless headphones cost, along with the associated need to charge them.

I attached a lightning adapter to each of my two pairs of wired headphones, and never gave the lack of a headphone jack a thought after that.
This.

I've only been bummed three times about the removal. Twice were within the first two weeks and I couldn't play music in a friend's car, and the third time was last week because I forgot my dog chewed up my lightning to 3.5mm adapter so I couldn't use my phone for music at the gym.

It is a nice money grab for the apple, but a nuisance for me and many others I know. There have been many occasions where I wanted to plug my phone into a system for music but couldn't because I didn't have an adaptor on me. I do see benefits to bluetooth devices, like when I'm working out, but they are overpriced and the sound quality compares to a wired pair costing a fraction of the cost - again great money grab for Apple. Apple = courageously greedy.

This is like moving from tape cassette to CD. It will be slow at first but over time all manufactures will have only Bluetooth interfaces (not a wired interface). Apple is just moving us that direction more quickly which I support. But also I haven't had a need to put an wire in my headphone jack in at least a year. Maybe a company will create a device that will be cheap, pick up the signal and transform it into a headphone jack signal (that you plug into).

I have the airpods and will never go back to wired head phones again.
And BTW, I was on the fence with the Airpods but got them anyway. I love them and think they are amazing.

Point taken.

Maybe you should develop and market cheap headphones with a lightening connection.

That being said I have a 6 so I don't have that issue but I almost never use my headphone jack. Everything is Bluetooth for me.

Now you can get a pretty decent quality BT head seat very reasonable.

I might be in a minority here, but I genuinely miss the headphone jack.

Over and over I find it to be an inconvenience to not have, repeatedly an issue, and I've found that I'll generally opt against using headphones rather than fooling with the dongle or getting my wireless headphones (powerbeats) to connect.

I'm literally planning to switch back to an SE, both for form factor and the jack.

Glad they got rid of it. IMHO the less wires on a mobile device the better. AirPods are great, I actually use them more on my Mac that my iPhone.

I think it really helps with the strong success of the Airpods with the 3.5 Jack being deleted. Even with the delay of the Airpods, they have been overwhelmingly positive. I imagine the backlash would have been worse if the Airpods were not a stellar product, but the transition for some to Bluetooth has been better than expected.

I do own a of airpods. I like them. However, I miss having a headphone jack. Some of my headphones like my beats and selfie stick using 3.5mm jack. Its a hassle to always remember bring the adapter with.

I also I listen to a lot of hypnosis and audio book before going to sleep. So I prefer to use wired headphones because my airpods always fall out during the night and get lost in my covers.

Its a little hard to use wired headphones when I also have to charge my iPhone at night.

Two words: No and Airpods.

No, always tried Bluetooth headphones since the dawn (Ericsson/SonyEricsson and now Sony). They've vastly improved many times and I always got annoyed at the cord getting caught on coat and sweater zippers or passing people's bags on public transit leaving me snagged by them.

Funny enough now I have Jabra Spirt Pulse and really enjoy them but it's annoying to have the cord around my neck get snagged.

Looking forward to AirPod's by Apple in Matte Black so I don't have to pay a $199 premium and 60day wait.

It's been about a year since the iPhone 7 was released without a headphone jack.

Some people, myself included, were disappointed at this development. Others saw it as progress and didn't mind the omission, or despite their disappointment, purchased an iPhone 7 regardless.

A year ago on this day a friend and I wagered a cold beer whether or not anyone would still care. I believed people would still be disappointed at the omission while he believed people would no longer care.

Please help us resolve our wager.

Do you care that the iPhone 7 came without a headphone jack?
Nope... have BeatsX for travel and PXC550 for home. Did not miss a thing, except maybe a cord dangling from my head getting in the way of coding.

I have a diabetic blood meter that uses the headphone jack. Obviously it won't work that way with a 7 or greater. There is a Lightning connector replacement coming from the manufacturer but it's not here yet. And the 8 is rumored to be ditching the Lightning connector.

Just this week I was at the gym.

My wireless headphones were dead (boo!)
My gym sold me a pair of headphones for only $5.00 (yay!)
Then I realized I carry an iPhone 7 (boo!)

I enjoy wireless headphones... so much so that I actually forgot my phone doesn't have a headphone jack.
So do I miss it daily? No.
But it sucked that I just couldn't borrow/buy a cheap pair in a pinch.
