Awesome... not. I'll let the beta testers pickup the 6 first and wait for M9 to come out. Then we'll see.

Should have had 2 GB of memory last time. But they are stretching out the incremental hardware upgrades over as long period of time as possible to maximise profit. Tragic. They sure must be proud of this behaviour.

I dont believe apple uses their RAM as a selling point do they?

"Can't believe this BS...only one gig of RAM...what are they thinking? Totally ridiculous..."

- Said as he starts packing up tents and water bottles and beach chairs to get ready to camp out for iPhone 6.

:)

I was hoping they would go for 512 mb ram.
That way they would save $1.25, and Apple making more money is for me the most important thing.
Max out the storage capacity at say 8 gb and charge a cool grand for it.
Yaay!

Wouldn't 1 GB of ram consume more power then 2 GB. Every time you run out of memory, an app/Webpage gets dumped and has to be reloaded. The power used to reload the app/website could not be offset by the RAM using slightly less power.

Can someone explain what good 3gb of ram(using note 3 as an example) is in a phone at this point? What apps/games actually benefit from it? Has there been any speed tests showing a large benefit in having this much ram in a phone?

All the comparisons I've seen show the 5s loading apps as fast if not faster than any android phone released since and that all have more ram.

The only real benefit anyone seems to mention is the not reloading of multiple tabs when you switch back and forth between apps. If that's the only benefit then that seems really minor in my opinion and only used by apple haters and spec whores as a way of justifying their samsung purchase: "my phone has 3gb of ram and a 16mp camera so it's way better than an iPhone"

Only 2% of iPhone users actually care about that. So I don't think this will affect sales in any large way

I hate to use the term "power user" but some of us use these phones to their maximum potential and 1GB is not even remotely enough memory.

It's archaic, if true, and if I were not switching to ATT, I would gladly boycott their, beyond, ridiculous decision.

They may look at most of their customers as sheep but to many of us, they are just adding straws to the camels back.

If you can argue with my statement, it just means you are not using your phone enough. People need to stop using the "640K of memory is enough" mentality and join the rest of is in, what is almost, 2015 #
This phone will carry Apple through 4GB Android phones. No, iOS 8 optimizations are NOT enough. iOS iterations will not solve memory problems. More memory will.

What do you use your phone for where you need more than one gb of ram? Ipad sure but iPhone? I don't have the browser reload problem on my phone.

I suspect that, at least in part, they limit RAM like this to force developers to keep their apps lean, clean and low-footprint.

If the iPhone had 4GB RAM, developers would spend far less time optimizing their apps for performance, and the end result would just be lower battery life.

Every app and game can benefit from it. The more apps and games you have running, the more you benefit. iOS multitasking is a lame joke, maybe if Apple would throw in some extra RAM we could get some of that as well?

What I will not excuse, under any circumstance, will be if Apple keeps the base model at 16GB. That will be beyond comprehension. The base model FOUR YEARS ago was 16GB. If they honestly expect me to spend $650 on a phone in the year 2014 with 16 GIGS of storage, I will switch to android. I have been using the iPhone since 2007, and it would be a shame to have to leave the whole ecosystem, but 16GB of storage in 2014 would absolutely infuriate me. I will be so mad that I could spit. An iPad mini with retina display with LTE AND 32GB Storage costs $625. Anything less than 32GB on the base model is just pure and absolute greed.

That's quite a rant - your mother must be so proud. Some people don't even try to download 30,000 songs, 20 HD movies and 400 apps to their phone, y'know. You don't want the base model? - I'm pretty sure they'll offer more souped up ones too, just for folks like you... and if the storage RAM spec matters so much to you, I'm also pretty sure the $100 difference will pale in relative importance.

Gonna switch to 'Droid? - good riddance... when you do, go find a good 'Droid-Rumors site to switch to too and spill your senseless vitriol there.

Have a nice day! :)

Haha. Well, kudos if your's is smooth. My iPhone 5 is like wading through a cesspool of tar while having two limbs amputated from time to time. Most of the time it works pretty smoothly, but when it starts acting up, man, it sure acts up good...

Make one video and show us that "acting up".
