I personally don't mind the ads. I would much rather watch the 30sec. ad than pay for a movie that takes up space on my harddrive that I have to back up so I don't lose it. If I want to purchase something I usually buy the whole season on dvd. But that's just me. YMMV.

abc ipad app

I like the ABC app. I don't mind watching the commercials. I can catch up on shows I normally don't have the time to watch and can't be bothered recording. I can watch them when its convenient. Wish they'd add the Nightly news to the programs available.
With Netflix this makes a killer combo for casual TV watching. NBC, CBS and Fox should pay attention. HBO has a similar service, but of course it requires Flash

I'm not sure what all this complaining about having to use a simulator is. Speaking as a programmer and hardware engineer the simulator is actually a better way to work and allows one to do virtually all of the development if not all. I think they are just jealous of those who did get advanced iPads.

Admittedly good numbers, but you'd expect that for a new device. Interesting to see what the numbers will be in a month or two.

So because the joojoo is new it also should have similar numbers? I don't understand your misapplied logic.

Are you intimating that somehow the iPad sales numbers are going to stall in the next few months, short of supply issues?

Imagine what apple could do with streaming. Hmm...

On a side note: Hey Arne, I hear you were to release a redesign of Mac Rumors. When will this come to fruition?

With the success of this app, hopefully Hulu will realize that a subscription model is not the way to go.

How many views are due to the ABC app crashing?

I tried to watch Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution three times before giving up completely because of the apps bugs.

Does that count as 3 views?

Good news. I can't wait to get my iPad. If CBS gets on board, I am GONE Direct TV.

Of course PBS, USA and History channel would be gravy.

Are you sure it's not your connection. I have had no issues on an Apple Airport Extreme using FiOS 25/25 but it is a dog's breakfast on Comcast at my partner's office using a Netgear router.

Who knows, perhaps someday in the not too distant future we will get BBC programming as quickly as the Brits do. But not until us Yanks ship 'em a few iPads, that is. :p

Why? If 40% of iPad owners have downloaded the ABC app so far, why would that percentage change significantly as time passes?

Granted, if the app completely stinks, the percentage might drop. If the app is stupendous, the percentage might go up. But why would you expect it to change simply with the passage of time?

Welcome to the future of television where cable TV networks as we know it cease to exist. Eventually, networks like the big four will be nothing but search engines streaming video per event. One more order of magnitude in bandwidth per household and here we go!

Woohooo!! I can cancel my Cox Communication monthly payment? THAT would be cool.

iPad's taking ova TV now. What's next?

I don't need them to take over anything. I'd settle for the iPad's success simply making the Apple haters here shut up for a while.
