I for one could not be any less of an "Apple apologist". Do your homework (ie: read) before you go making snap judgments.

The OP has an issue, it cannot be sorted until the next business day. I say calm down until you know there is truly an a problem that cannot be resolved. Until then deciding things cannot be fixed is a bit presumptive. Frankly I don't care if the dude was overcharged by TNT, Apple, or his credit card company, it doesn't bother me one bit. What is silly is that a consumer can suddenly be disgusted with a company who clearly made a mistake without giving them a chance to fix it or even notifying them of the issue. I don't care if it's Apple, Microsoft, or some other large company. It is the snap piss poor attitude expressed without attempt to resolve that I was mocking.

Try to fix it, if in fact it cannot be fixed then yes, be disgusted with Apple all you want. The day they wrong me I'll be happy to be disgusted with them too. Apple means nothing to me, they make expensive computers and other electronics that most can get for a lot less elsewhere, but it's my cash and I choose to spend it on Apple from time to time. :) I do not actually cheerlead for them, I'm not a fan of pom-poms to be honest.

I believe you missed the large helping of sarcasm / satire that went along with that post. *whoosh*

The OP said Duty.

haha.

Have you taken this up on the independent TNT support/discussion forums?

Apple have charged me VAT and the duty within the price from Apple CH, they haven't added VAT and Duties paid for to the shipping document they provided to TNT produced with the bill sent from the Factory in ( Shanghai )

Effectively I would be paying VAT, Custom handling duties & Import Duty again with the document.

This sentence makes no sense whatsoever.

This is a typical TNT mix-up. I've had this sort of problem with both them and UPS. Am actually currently taking care of two UPS mistakes of this sort - one where they are charging me import fees for a book that is exempt from these fees, and another where they are charging me for shipping that I've already paid through the seller.

You can get as mad as you want, but it's not going to help anything. Unfortunately, it seems that shipping companies make this kind of mistake more and more. All you can do is contact the shipping company to have it cleared up.

Re read the passage, and an understanding of Tax obligations helps.

Ebay private auctions are different, unless you can shed some light with Apples resolve to cover the shipping fee's for your situation.

Cant understand why this turned into a bitching war,OP as long as you have proof and im sure TNT and
whoever will, what's the problem it will clearly state you have been overcharged somewhere.Anyways
its now the morning time to give apple/TNT a bell as im sure it was just a MISTAKE than can be sorted
out with a simple phone call.Good luck

Waiting on a phone call back from Apple, either problem was sorted out or 500CHF can be put back on the credit card to sort the problem out myself.

I do understand tax, import fees, and customs regulations; the problem with your sentence was a lack of punctuation. It's a run-on sentence, and hard to understand because of that. I'm not pointing this out to make you uncomfortable, but it's necessary to be clear if you want help.

Why you're bringing Ebay into this, I have no idea. My own experiences have been with shipping companies messing up with Amazon orders, but that's not the issue. (I have had one issue with TNT delivering for Apple, but that was TNTs inability to handle logistics - I actually had to run after the truck to get them to stop, because I saw them come to the building, get out and look at the door, then start to drive off again.)

My point was that I find this type of error to be more and more common with shipping companies, and a phone call is usually all it takes to clear it up. And it seems that's what most people here have been trying to tell you, too - just call.

Im not uncomfortable, to much stock in your own opinion, ordering directly from Apple is a different Company than Amazon maybe you could be more clear with your situation and the resolve.

The original post you will find was posted on a Sunday.

Are you aware Apple are not contactable on Sundays?

I also have an opinion and point of view, thanks.

My mistake, thought you were interested in getting input here, to help you judge your own situation and decide how to proceed.

Nuff time wasted.

The Phone call to Apple had been made this morning maybe if it was Sunday it could have been helpful input, if you didn't want to read the whole thread to understand the situation regarding the Two Invoices received from Apple and payment to TNT, and the VAT already paid to Apple CH regarding the Duties / Vat, that is hardly my responsibility with your concern of understanding of sense, if any.

Any input on the judgement on one post alone isn't going to be accurate I am being short for a reason I am clearly being charged without the correct documentation that should have been supplied to TNT from export from Apple.

Picking me up on punctuation and not understanding clearly what is going on because of a lack of reading thoroughly through the thread hardly reflects truthfully on what I am saying in regard to your situation which is probably different to mine as it isn't being interpreted correctly.

We can all make assumptions, I am out of pocket and waiting for a solution.

No more posts of hostility I'll post back with the relevant info when the call from Apple is returned.

I'll probably regret this, but I'm going to try anyway:

1) I did read the entire thread. Several times. My input was based not only on everything you wrote, but what the others posted as well.

2) It seemed to me that you are experiencing a mix-up, and it was clear that you were very worked up about it. Lots of posters encouraged you to calm down and just make a phone call to clear it up as soon as the business week started up, because it's clear to all of us that you were charged twice.

3) I saw one sentence you added with info that simply didn't make sense. I pointed it out, thinking that if you cleared it up, I maybe could help, since I've been through this kind of thing before and have had to deal with mistakes in customs and import fees. I realised you might be offended, but I took the chance. And of course I realise that English may not be your first language, but I wanted to understand what you were trying to say. And I added my own experiences to let you know that you're not the only one who has had to deal with this sort of problem. Thought it would make you feel more optimistic if you heard that others had been through similar problems.

5) You were rude and jumped to conclusions in your responses.

Glad to hear that you are no longer going to write hostile posts, and I'm sure you'll get your situation cleared up now that the business week has started.

Take it a bit easier next time. Everyone understands when you're upset about a situation, we've all been there. But it won't help to bite the noses off people here who try to help you.

No ones nose has been bit off, the situation with Apple is at fault, if regarding biting someone's nose off that TNT is at fault with the understanding of points demonstrated above your understanding is clearly wrong regarding the Invoices and the payment made to Apple including VAT and Duties paid for, VAT Bill and Custom Duties are now being asked for by TNT again as Apple haven't recorded and carried their paperwork out correctly.

Finger wave at a child if you must, I'm not in the EU or apart of the US so the belittlement doesn't count for much of a boost from my back, and loss of money and time.

Now again I will post what happens with the phone call for future reference, for what its worth.

Here's the thing. We get a lot of people in here slamming Apple, sometimes for things that aren't their fault or are isolated incidents. But even the legitimate problems, if they come with attitude or snark, well we're already a defensive lot from all the time we have been treated as second class citizens. There's another thread here where someone is saying not to buy any Apple products because he's a recent switcher and his new computer isn't perfect. Apple is just a company. Macs are just products. Mistakes happen, stuff can suck or be broken. They aren't perfect. You have a right to be a little miffed, but it might help to wait until actually dealing with someone to rant about how much Apple "disgusts" you. ;) Venting is one things, but inflammatory comments = inflammatory responses. Calm down and someone will help you. :)

Guessing it's probably just something stupid, and you might even get a gift certificate out of it.

You know I would have never have guessed that one :)

Theirs no attitude but I understand the social requirements of the nature.

I posted because without any doubt I was disgusted and had reason to be, who would like a bill on top of their new Macbook Pro for $260 ?, not a lot of people.

I'm not a recent switcher I have been buying Apple since the early 90's on a regular basis every year, so when something happens like this it has to be on solid ground, and without a rant on no basis for a point forward.

I have received a phonecal back from Apple, where they have simply said ignore the TNTs request for VAT, in CH ignoring a bill from a company is not the best of ideas and can actually carry a significant amount of flack from police with a visit around and arrest if necessary , again not to mention more of my time and money.

In the United Kingdom where I use to live I would have done this as UK / EU law is alot different, and simply ignoring all issues goes without saying.

So again they are looking into their mistake with a confirmation agreed that they will confirm this has been canceled their end and a confirmation from TNT that it has been understood and cancelled in Switzerland regarding the Duties and Customs Charges being asked for again.

With regards to the OP what's with all the bitching and what do you hope to achieve by it?
everyones posted to calm down & it will get sorted. How are things going now?

Edit must have been typing same time as me,glad it looks like its being sorted

Generally people seem to think that you spend all the time between the problem and solution angry, its not actually realisticly like this in truth.

as like anyone I don't like digs at the integrity of Truth and Facts.

Its almost like being put into limbo, and being told black isn't black and your legs aren't cut off when everyone else is running round, with a black and white perception for them.

Uncomfortable no, ridiculous yes!

Ok i can understand were your coming from and to be honest id be pissed if your situation happened to me,but it will be sorted. I've been overcharged for stuff ( not by apple ) but in the end all was fine. and hay i even got a freebie for my trouble & stress

I just think maybe it would have been better to post after your spoken to the relevant people rather than before

As someone who regularly posts in the political forums, I can tell you, cathartic as it may be, never post angry. Trust me. Sit down, have some tea, enjoy your new computer for awhile, then call TNT if you haven't heard back from them and calmly explain that they suck.

It is probably a problem with the custom papers. Being imported into Switzerland directly from Shanghai, while the AppleStore is located in Ireland. Contributing to the problem is that Switzerland is not a member of the European Economic Area. You know, the free movement of goods, persons, services, and capital among the EEA countries. The AppleStore in Ireland (EEA member) handles all the papers and costs when entering the EEA customs. Now it seems that the product comes directly from Shanghai into Switzerland. And without the right custom papers, TNT will drop the costs with you. If it was imported inside the EEA first, and then shipped to you, the import duties or handling fees would probably be different (meaning lower or none), because Switzerland does have trade agreements with many countries of the EU. So I think probably custom papers that have not been carefully handled is the problem. Who is at fault, I really don't know. Maybe Apple didn't do their part, or maybe TNT did something wrong. Fact is, something went wrong.

Try to remain calm. I have found that things will resolve more quickly that way. Venting here with us is ok, as long as you stay calm on the phone. I really hope that things will be resolved quickly and correctly.

As the above poster says - never post angry - I've done it myself and felt like a prat later on. The OP came across as a prat because despite a whole load of people saying don't panic, wait till you call Monday morning, all will be well, he (?) still continued with a (I have to say it) slightly pathetic hissy fit, with dashings of paranoia at anything slightly unsympathetic.

Of course you're angry, but the plain fact is that something clearly went wrong, and instead of waiting a while and making a simple call to sort out a simple problem, you had to come out all guns blazing, boring the crap out of everyone in the process.

I hope you (the OP) don't do this a lot because it's a huge load of wasted time, and anger, as we know, takes a long time to subside and does your health no good either. To be honest I still can't believe I bothered to a/ read this, and b/ replied to it.

Ran through the Invoices again and TNT Invoice with their Apple document is declared 3231.00 without VAT, but Apples document through to my email is at 3476.56 inc. VAT which has been charged at that rate to my credit card.

Apple has made the mistake, and hopefully this can be resolved tommorow.

Are you saying you've been charged VAT? I know anything sold to Europe can be charged duty especially goods to be used in that country,
