You need to get out more if you consider this loosing your temper, Yes with hindsight the phone call should have been made before a post was made.

Should I have automatically known that some individuals will step in the way of any criticism towards Apple?, I'm sure you don't listen to every criticism explaining to you like a 12 year old how to live your life & act regarding their outlook even if the charges are liable to Apples part, as someone said before its of no consequence to them that I am left out of pocket by any Company.

If you want to post with that intent it is completely up to you sir, on the other hand consider what I didn't know when I made the posts rather than considering it all at the same time and giving me a thoroughly good slap just for the sake of it.

On Sunday I posted that a phone call would be made to Apple before I was even provoked into a reaction on my behalf, I am still awaiting a reply from Apple confirming no extra charges will be charged from the exclusion of VAT in the invoice to TNT.

If this is all to boring for you why add your two cents in the first place?

As the above poster says - never post angry - I've done it myself and felt like a prat later on. The OP came across as a prat because despite a whole load of people saying don't panic, wait till you call Monday morning, all will be well, he (?) still continued with a (I have to say it) slightly pathetic hissy fit, with dashings of paranoia at anything slightly unsympathetic.

Of course you're angry, but the plain fact is that something clearly went wrong, and instead of waiting a while and making a simple call to sort out a simple problem, you had to come out all guns blazing, boring the crap out of everyone in the process.

I hope you (the OP) don't do this a lot because it's a huge load of wasted time, and anger, as we know, takes a long time to subside and does your health no good either. To be honest I still can't believe I bothered to a/ read this, and b/ replied to it.

Are you saying you've been charged VAT? I know anything sold to Europe can be charged duty especially goods to be used in that country,

Yes if I imported from the US I may be liable for taxes, but I bought through the Swiss part of the Apple site inside Switzerland.

He's in Switzerland which isn't in the EU so shouldn't have to pay VAT.

7.6% VAT in Switzerland that I have been asked to pay again by TNT, Apple marked the import form from Shanghai to TNT without VAT and Custom Duties.

Received a bill asking for custom duties, handling charges and VAT at 280 CHF after the payment had already been made inc. VAT

Hmm. Why isn't this thread titled "Absolutely Disgusted With TNT" then?

Apple within their invoice to TNT logistics has the price without VAT and customs duty, TNT have sent a bill asking for VAT and Duty that has already been paid.

I am being charged twice because Apple haven't done their paperwork correctly, does that make sense.

Yep Neil, thank you

Storm in a teacup is the phrase that comes to mind here. I can't believe I wasted time reading this overblown reaction, let alone reply to it. However, anyone who goes into one to this extent, then lays into other posters who are only attempting to offer advice, before actually even asking the company involved let alone receiving a response of any sort, REALLY needs to lay off the caffeine.

I'm glad more countries don't have postal deliveries on Sundays...

It does now. But can you see how it didn't make sense before you changed the wording of your post? That is, based on the wording that I quoted?

It sounds like there was a paperwork mix-up here, but not related to the listed value on the invoice. The invoice value one would put on a customs declaration invoice would not include VAT, duty, or brokerage, as that is all calculated based on the cost of the item.

It sounds like Apple did that part right, however, it seems that they either forgot to mark the shipment as free domicile (in which VAT, duty, and brokerage gets billed to the shipper), or TNT didn't catch that part when putting the details into their system. Either way, my guess is the problem should be able to be resolved relatively hassle-free.

A month on after receiveig the Macbook Pro, I am still receiving phonecalls from TNT asking for VAT and import Duty on the Macbook Pro.

Unbeleivable the last time I buy Apple.

After clarifying with a complete Prat in Dublin that TNT would be called to correct Apples mistake with the invoice, his word should have been presumbly enough that he would do his job, a month on the phonecalls from TNT are still being made weekly asking for VAT.

Extremely Pissed off at Apples level of service, I the customer shouldn't be chaseing up their mistakes, not once have I been offered compensation for the troubles this has caused.

Makes you want to buy a Dell.

request to speak to a high level manager, and then tell him your not getting off the phone until he 3-way calls TNT with you on the line.

if it were me, the laptop wouldve been returned IN STORE, somewhere. Letting this proceed pass a months time has only put you in a worse position. Im not saying there is anything you couldve done, but your return time has expired, and you have very little on your side now post-purchase.

After reading all your posts, i see in this one i quoted "makes you want to buy a dell." Go ahead, your assuming they have perfect service, which, well IS wrong.

That's too long waiting for this to be resolved. Send a well crafted email detailing the problem and your disappointment to Steve Jobs. That will most likely get you some prompt attention. It worked for me and it's worked for others in the past.

No one knows that, Apple haven't explained why a bill has been produced after payment has been cleared.

I have in possesion a Apple Laptop that has been paid for with a bill on top asking for extra Duty / VAT invoices to be covered, should I automaticaly know that Apple plays no part in this when one of their products is sitting on front of my desk?

Most people are quite aware Apple crafts great products and I am not bashing them or hurting anyones fandom ego complex, when one of their products carries extra payment and declaration taxes on VAT / Custom Duty into a Country after spending $4000,00 any individual with any concept for a grasp of money and sense would be in the same resolve.

TNT / Apple in Switzerland are not available in Switzerland on Sundays unfortunately for this situation they are civilized, if people are ordering in Switzerland heaven forbid some users might even find this extra charge and information useful.

Now I'll post back with the details tommorow.

Dude, once Apple pushes this over to the carrier, it is completely OUT OF THEIR HANDS. Calling Apple will get you nowhere. It is a charge from TNT, not APPLE. Call TNT and work it out with them.
Its not an ego complex, it is about someone going off half cocked on something that Apple has nothing to do with. Most likely, someone at TNT screwed up the paperwork. OMG Apple, those f'ers I can't believe they are ripping me off like this....... whatever. RELAX

Apple made the mistake their end with the Paperwork when it was imported into Switzerland, VAT was paid at the 7.6% Rate all the duties should have been covered through the Swiss Apple site where the Payment was made, instead TNT haven't received the details.

They have not been supplied with the relevant paperwork from the point of origin of the Apple Factory, their for I receive a Phone Call every week asking for Duty and VAT.

Is that clear enough for you ?

What is Steve Jobs email, stevejobs@apple.com ?

Would have been ok, if the Apple Employee would have done his Job correctly.

I had to ask a number of times that ignoring the TNT request for Duties was not an option in Switzerland.

Its not like the EU or US, here its a lot more accountable.

Oh for pity's sake. Am I alone in getting the impression you're chasing Apple once a fortnight about this and spending the rest of the time bitching? I know if this happened to me I would have had it completely sorted within a couple of days, and I'm sure that goes for most of the people on this forum.

Really, life is full of these sort of hiccups. Just be a man and sort it out!

The truth is the truth from any perspective.

rapty this is what I'd do in this position. Frankly its a mixup and no-one is really to blame for this.

1) Don't be rude to the call centre staff.
2) Call TNT and Apple to find out what's going on. Make sure you get any relevant reference numbers from both parties.
3) Once you can place blame in a sensible manner call the company most at fault (my guess is TNT as they are collecting the money), and give them the relevant reference number for the other.

4) If this doesn't work, escalate the problem to the managers in both companies, that should fix matters.

This hardly seems like a particularly large problem and both TNT and Apple's customer service teams are more than competent enough to handle it.

You are not alone. :p

Try adopting the same arrogant, belligerent tone in your email to him. That should fix matters.

Who would have known life exists beyond Steve Jobs, Again Apple are to blame as many of you won't have it or even have any comprehension of what has gone on.

For the last time Read what I have wrote half of you are assuming I am bashing Apple for no purpose, they did not produce the relevant documentation with the Macbook Pro into Switzerland from the Shaghai Factory.

Hence why I am being asked for VAT & Custom Duties from TNT, Its the law to pay Custom Duties and Tax, Black is clearly Black, explained more than once.

I can't return the Computer I unfortunately work, and need a Computer for Work, If I could work without a computer I would, they consume time and give to many to much of a say and needless unpratical knowledge for their own good.

I couldn't give two Sh*ts what Steve Jobs would think of my email this is what Factually happened no ifs or buts this is where the line is drawn, their is more to life than some Nerd who has a talent for making fancy machines.

Basing an ego on anothers success is beyond pathetic, what's it to you ?

GET REAL.

So its a minor screw-up, make sure both parties understand what's going on and I'm sure Apple can send on the documentation.

If you don't care about what Steve Jobs thinks of your email the chances are very high that he won't care about you and this issue won't be sorted and you'll have to pay the tax.

Frankly if you treat this issue with TNT and Apple like you do here no-one will take you seriously. If you replace Apple with Microsoft, BT, British Gas, Amazon, HSBC, etc. etc. I would be giving exactly the same advice.
