Okay, if it is a more reasonable hour for CST then what time zone do you suggest get the unreasonable hour? It is only fair that all time zones launch simultaneously, so who do you think should lose sleep?

Well if you made it 10PM PST, that would make it -

1am EST
12am CST
11pm MST
10pm PST

apple watch preorder way more annoying than 6+

For me this was by far the best and easiest launch, the iPhone 6-6+ launch was so much worse

i ordered w/in 3 minutes of the product page going live, won't receive until mid-may.

iphone 6+ - ordered within the first 3 minutes, and received on launch day.

this sucks.

Yes, you likely won't survive...

I'm not sure it made much difference. Some reported ordering within 2 minutes of going live and getting the Mid-May delivery. No big deal is it?

Where is Louis CK when we need him? Suddenly, we are all entitled to a product most of us have never seen or touched personally!

People always come up with this crap at every launch. Do you really think, given their PUBLIC sales numbers since 2007, that they need to pull something like what you're suggesting? Grow up.

Calm down darling...

Do you actually know this?

Apple has frequently underpromised and overperformed with regard to delivery times. A large proportion of the people who got iPhone 6es and 6+es on launch day—the very deliveries you are now unhappily citing as the positive contrast to the Watch—were told when they preordered that they would receive those phones weeks later than they eventually did.

Wouldn't the more appropriate comparison be projection-to-projection (or, once the Watches actually come in, delivery-to-delivery)? The projection-to-delivery contrast you're drawing is akin to comparing... well, you know.

Why is this a problem? If you had ordered early you would of got one early. It's as simple as that, you only have your self to blame.

in his defense, you literally had 2 minutes to get into the initial shipment of 4/24. if you got caught slipping in those two minutes, like went to take a piss while waiting, then you're out.

Everyone knows to go have their bathroom break before the pre orders begin :p

Sure, if you have enough stock, but this is just a joke :)
Announced 7 months ago, Space Black ships in June for everyone. Why?

I don't know why, but I think it's safe to say that they did not have the watch anywhere near a finished state back then. If you've read anything about the original iPhone launch you'll know that it was seriously unfinished and they were only just barely able to demonstrate it without it crashing catastrophically. And has been pointed out, it wouldn't make sense to order millions of these to ensure that everyone who preorders gets one on launch day only to find that interest in the product was way lower than expected.

or... you know.... filling in your billing address and shipping address. I was on the app at 12:01am and it took 2 minutes to fill in the info for apple pay. I went as fast as I possibly could and I still got may 13th- may 27th. My confirmation email shows 12:04am for the black sport. That's what upsets me the most.

However, I'm really hoping that Apple pushes up the shipping dates and I see my watch in April.

While I won't sit here and agree that this was one of the worst launches in Apple's history, I will say I'm kind of confused as to why it's the most supply constrained.

Apple has been behind the scene's on this watch for quite sometime. The Watch was revealed in September, and it's now April. So, Apple had 8 months to get they're supply together. Everyone was waiting for it to be released in March, but that instead got pushed off until April. That being said, maybe there have been issues with making the watch. I know nothing about production, so who knows what's really going on as far as production issues. I would think though, given 8 months, and a little over a million pre-order sales reported, that there wouldn't be such a constraint on supply.

Perhaps I'm wrong here, but I will say given this is Apple's newest product in years, I would say job well done as far as exceeding customer's expectectations.

Apple has unprecedented marketing power, so it doesn't matter what they sell, they will still have millions of sales. Apple went cautious though, and they didn't manufacture many watches. I guess they wanted to see how this new category (for Apple) works and what models are popular. Apple will meet demand at some point, but nevertheless I understand how frustrating it can be, waiting for your order.
What I don't understand is how short supplies for the new MacBook are. Apple knows what to expect from a new laptop launch, so I don't get why Apple didn't have anything to show in their stores. Delivery times of 4-6 weeks for the new laptop are just unacceptable.

Looks as though the Applewatch was rushed to market thereby creating all the problems we're seeing.
The launch is compounded by Apple employees not knowing anything about availability and long waiting times.
7 months too long to wait for a product.

This is a very long thread for merely expressing

"I made it into the first delivery batch" == "Congratulations Angela Ahrendts"
"I missed the first delivery batch" == "Worst product launch ever"

Exactly. I get the impression that most of the Apple dweebs have great difficulty coping with the basic challenges of life on earth. Way too much drama over a little gadget that will be obsolete in a year and a half.

Enjoy the amazing things that we have today, but you lack perspective if you let having to wait an extra month for what is 90% toy and 10% tool. It's an affectation, not a life or death necessity.

this sucks.

I ordered 2 hours after the store went live and am in the first window. I ordered the Stainless Steel with classic band. Last year with the iPhone 6 it took me 45 minutes to even get into the site. This year I ordered 2 watches in about 5 minutes.

----------

I'm hoping for an apple press release today with the number of pre orders. That will squash a lot of speculation.

Doubt it. They have already said they will not announce sales figures for the Watch separately in their earnings. They might send out a message on April 27th that says something to the effect that orders exceeded their expectations and are arriving in customers' hands daily.

I dislike 12:01am PST product launches since I live on the east coast . Why not make it 10am PST or something better for everyone in the US?

i sincerely hope that you are right, and that i'm wrong. time will tell. let's check back in the near future.

speak for yourself. i've never had this issue with an apple pre-order in my life, and this is the appropriate place to voice my dissatisfaction for this product release. hope that's ok with you.

The 6/6 Plus was a piece of cake for me. Ordered at midnight and received my phone on launch day. As for "worst launch in Apple's history", iPhone 4 rings a bell. That was a nightmare.

I have to agree this launch is a clusterf--k. Doesn't compare to any iPhone launch for one reason: with the iPhones, they had them in the store. You could camp out if you wanted. Comes down to a simple fact: if you want it bad enough, you get your butt to the store and wait as long as it takes! None of this crap that amounts to a lottery!

Server did not crash - that's a good thing. I hate hate hate the fact that they did not have the try-on appointment or anything for us to at least look at the watch in person before we had to preorder. By the time somebody makes it the store to look at it, the shipment will be in June already.
