The price was never an issue for me, I always used rarbgaccess.org. I loved the beginning of Netflix with great shows like House of Cards or Narcos or Daredevil or Marco Polo…but only season 1 & 2 were great! I didn’t mind the wokism but it just went too much & didn’t bring anything to the story. And then look at the end of shows like House of Cards, Punisher, Daredevil, Altered Carbon and the worst…Designed Survivor!

So you get great show only for 1 season, why?!

One show is although the exception: Ozark! Although the end is a bit disappointing I was expected much worst.
Punisher, Daredevil (ALL seasons!), Altered Carbon (S1), Jessica Jones, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (quality varied, but overall was dark and fun), The Witcher (which is only OK), Arrested Development relaunch/continuation, The Order (quite fun), Black Spot (French horror-esque/weird series), Black Mirror (which isn’t really an original, I think): there’s been a good amount of quality series, but they were all either cancelled to soon or just abandoned. Yet, there’s been an UNENDING new supply of crap-quality shows and ’reality tv’ series.

I am just about over it, it’s hard to even FIND new material that isn’t just the latest garbage-churn product.

I will say that I enjoy Apple TV, though there are far fewer series and I don’t love them all (nor do I watch most). I just have a few favorites, but at $5.99 per month, I think it’s reasonable. I prefer reading books to watch tv anyhow.

I recently unsubscribed because I’m tired of seeing the same old content I’ve watched over two years ago.

I also want to be able to filter out what I’ve already seen, what I don’t want to watch, and content I started to watch but didn’t like. I bet there will be nothing to watch. And I’m paying so much to spend up-to an hour looking for something good to watch while my pizza gets cold. That did it for me.

I pay $16 for Netflix in my country and $4 for HBO Max and yet they have way better content. I'll leave Netflix forever as soon as my subscription ends.
Here in the US, HBO Max is around $15/month. Probably less if you purchase a full year at once. That’s what I may do next year — this year they gave me a ‘special rate’ of $7.50/month, and just before I was about to cancel! The programming quality is EXCELLENT…but the interface/gui is horrendous.

I don't like Netflix anymore. Proudly cancelled my subscription long time ago.

The company has gotten greedy and they are charging for every little thing you can think of.

Apple TV+ for the win :)
I'm rocking my 3rd month of my ATV+ trial. It's nice thus far (wish there was a way to search for shows on their website, but at least the workaround is to just type in "Apple TV+ [name of show]" in a search engine) and quite on par with some of the other SS I've used thus far (Hulu, Disn+, Paramount Plus). However, ATV+ alone is hardly enough. I agree with others where they love ATV+, but binge watched everything they wanted to in a month or 3. They've either cancelled their sub, or still have it b/c it's part of Apple One. They check back a couple times per year and resub if there's new movies or seasons that they fancy.

I'm going to be getting into Netflix later in the months. I'm guessing I'm an outlier b/c unlike others who've had Netflix for years and years (if not over a decade), I'm fairly new to it. I've seen Queen's Gambit. And a season of Stranger Things, and Disenchanted at someone else's house, but would love to be able to watch the rest of it on my own. Nice thing is, if it doesn't pan out, I'm month-to-month and have that flexibility to cancel :)

I too want to know what the average person spends per month in coffee shops. If for no other reason than to gain insight into WHY “x cups of coffee” has become THE relative cost comparison.

Are that many people really dropping $50+ on coffee shop coffee in month?!? If that’s what floats someone’s boat—no judgement. I’d guess—having seen no data—that it’s not nearly common enough to warrant its status as the default example.
When I used to work in an office, in midtown, I easily spent $50/month on coffee. But I knew that was an expense I was choosing to pay. Working from home, I no longer have lunch or coffee expenses (to the same degree), since I can make a nice lunch at home (usually a few choices prepped in advance). And I have gotten pretty adept at making some nice coffee/expresso/mocha drinks for myself.
As to the spending on tv subscriptions, it really is about priorities for me. I’ve just set a limit to how much I will spend per month on streaming/tv.

For those who need to penny pinch in the SS department, can't begrudge them for that. I'm sure they have other areas they'd like to or need to spend $$ in. Even $10 a month can add up. I myself stopped buying orange juice (used to be once a week). Sadly, it was more so b/c the cost went up (as opposed to them being engineered flavor packets, and high in sugar).

I can financially afford to pile on the SS, but can still stand to save the $$. For me, time is the bigger bottleneck, so I'll go with rotating them. Having only one at a time is just right. Make it ad-free (where applicable) to save even more time! I also have CuriosityStream, but that's only $20 per year, so I can make an exception for that since it's so affordable. It's also strictly documentaries, so there's very little overlap with the major SS.

If I had to guess, they will probably make all authorized users use their own logins; most likely the person paying for account will have invite others by providing their e-mail address, they get an invite and create their own account. Then only one stream per login will be allowed.

They'd have to be stupid to limit service to one public IP; by doing so they'll be killing the convenience of being able to watch from anywhere and on any device (almost as bad as old-school TV before VCR's came around) and will be driving even more customers away.

To be honest I no longer care about not having Netflix.
the golden era of TV shows is over.
I don’t even remember the last time I watched Netflix (yet I’m paying for the subscription).
Not just Netflix but other streaming services too.

Competitions start to squeeze them out, could see it coming when they started their own streamers and pulled their content from Netflix. Question is, how long will the loyal subscribers put up with yearly price rises. I’ll stick with it for this one but no more than that, and their content is getting worse instead of better so that may not be long.

Subscribers are already leaving Netflix because it is no longer the only game in town. Now Netflix is going to start harassing the subscribers they still have left by preventing them from watching content outside their home?

Yup, that sure sounds like a great plan for getting people to stick around….

The question I have to ask myself is how often do I watch Netflix anymore. To be honest, not much. Probably one of the reasons why I have still keep it is because my daughter is still in school and it is cheap entertainment for her. If Netflix blocks that then maybe it will be goodbye.
Apple got me to pay $30 a month for a family plan. I find us using Apple TV more and more, plus music is free and keep larger backup storage. Apple control access by account logins which is fine and allows each user to have their own preferences.
If I give up Netflix, then I may go for Hulu or Disney+ or some other service since most of those are less than $10 a month.

I still don’t understand how this will work. My wife and I both travel for work. We also have two residences. We’re not sharing we just travel.
Contrary to the bash fest in play on this topic, I’m 100% confident Netflix can tell the difference between permanent “travel” access (always from elsewhere) and select or even regular travel access. So very likely nothing to worry about in your and your wife’s usage… unless you are always at one address and she is always at the other.

Those who will feel this change are mostly those who have perhaps received Netflix service for free at a separate address for upwards of years because of password sharing… which is just another version of piracy. If it was Apple instead of Netflix, the collective crowd sentiment would be entirely different on this topic.

They had a chance to grab Marvel before Disney, the biggest mistake they ever made not to. Cancelled my Sub. Can't say it's really worth it these days.

I bought my first iPhone in years and got 3 months free Apple TV +, it was complete garbage, cancelled and logged out after 10 minutes
How can you decide within 10 minutes that it’s garbage (it’s not 2019 anymore, so there’s more stuff on there now) & why wouldn’t you keep it for the 3 months to see if there’s anything you like?

I found myself watching Apple TV+ more and more, so I ended up paying £50 for the year.

Charging $16 for HD is ridiculous. Uou can’t buy anything that has an SD resolution screen in 2022.

If they want to save bandwidth, make the basic tier 720p or 1080i, which is 1/2 the bandwidth of 1080p.

But even then, it’s lame to charge so much.

Basic tier should be HD and 1 stream at a time.
Medium adds 4k and 1 additional stream.
Top should be 4k with all the dolby bells and whistles and has 4 streams.

Is Netflix more prone to password sharing over its competitors? How come other streaming services don’t keep harping on this ‘issue’? Seems like PR suicide to keep going on about this instead of content, games, innovations…

I’m out! At least out of keeping Netflix on all the time. I’ll stay tuned to a few shows now and then like I do with Peacock or Apple TV. love the flexibility of turning on a service for a month and then cancelling.

Netflix and Hulu never have a specific film I want to watch when the mood strikes me, so I’m always forced to fall back on ‘traditional’ methods. Upon the last price hike I just decided to downgrade my Netflix account from 4K to 1080.
