Can any one direct me to the standalone upgrade?

Can any one direct me to the standalone upgrade? If such thing exists?

I'm on the CC subscription plan so looking forward to picking up the update. I still haven't fully bought into Lightroom yet though and I've been using it for over a year now. Functionally it is just fine and as easy to use as Aperture was. But visually, I was able to dial in on my desired look much quicker in Aperture. I loved how Aperture rendered Canon RAW files, and just haven't been able to replicate the exact look in Lightroom. Frustrating.

They're still douchebags for not making it a free update to LR 5

I know right? Friggin software companies, trying to make money and stuff....

Lightroom uses say Photos is limited...

Photos users say its just as good.

No one can win ....

As of right now, Lightroom is ahead of Photos, no question. BUT, I think Apple has the potential to make Photos a downright fearful competitor to Adobe. Between future Apple updates to the program and 3rd party plug-ins (which we know will Photos will incorporate in the future), there is a ton of potential.

I just purchased my upgrade for $79- and it's downloading now. Two things, I hope I can upgrade both of my Macs as in the past a license allowed you to have it installed on two computers. And, I'm hoping my new Nikon D7200 is now supported.

When Aperture stops working, sadly I'll have to go to Lightroom. I hate all things Adobe, so bloated.

I was under the impression that Aperture won't 'stop working' it just won't get updates any more. So if you're happy with its functionality as it is now, then all good, carry on using it.

New features look nice, but as a 5k iMac user the ability to use the GPU is the game changer for me. Hopefully it won't run painfully slow without reducing the window to a 1/4 of the screen now.

This is Apple we are talking about. So no doubt they will have little to no incentive to keep Aperture working say in 10.11 and beyond. It's likely going to be a OS X upgrade that eventually kills it.....not Aperture itself.

I keep checking but don't see the update!!

me neither???!

I hate how Aperture rendered Canon 6D raw files. It was just a mess and they never fixed it..

Adobe is also selling the new Lightroom update on a standalone basis, branded as Lightroom 6 and priced at $149 (or $79 upgrade pricing).

good news. i hate renting software! i can get many years of use out of $150, which is less expensive than renting it at $10/mo -- two years and its $240 already, no thanks. owning software ftw!

Hmmm, 5D, 1D2N and 5D3 files look pretty good to me. I usually prefer ACR versions but sometimes the Aperture ones look really good.

I think I'll stick with Aperture.

Oh, wait....

AP isn't dead yet. It will last a few more years I'm sure.

I'm sticking with it hoping/praying? that Photos will integrate most of AP's features currently missing.

BUT, this is for my personal collection.

Not sure what I would do it this was for my core business.

Not Available in CC yet

Still shows LR5.

I thought the point of subscribing to Creative Cloud is to get the new version when it is released? So, why is it not available when they announce it?

And yes, I signed out and quit CC, even restarted the computer. Not coming up yet.

LAME!!

Wake me up when Adobe makes Lightroom on computers, tablets, and phones all one time purchases with an optional cloud storage plan. Not this new one time purchase without cloud storage nonsense, or the rent the software CC model that does include cloud storage. Also, the CC plan should NOT be separate from Revel storage plan. Double charging loyal customers for a service that should be included in the CC model is a disgusting practice.

It will never happen, the DAM capabilities in Photos is appalling, compared to LR, Its editing features are basic, where as LR's is quite extensive. Add in the fact, that Apple let Aperture whither on the vine only shows they're not interested in catering to anyone but the iPhone shooter who's interested in sharing the photos.

Nope! Just replied to a comment. Now I'll look into it. But they haven't for quite some time, right?

Jumped too fast!

Keep those eyes for yourself.

yeah actually reading the article youre commenting/complaining about is always a plus.
