wtf, ALL my iPad 1's handle safari great-no crashes, not particarly slow-I am currently doing video guitar lessons online and no problems-I don't know what you people do, but maybe an unreasonable expectation of technology would explain things???

P.S. Adobe should be lambasted for not creating a version compatible with iPad 1!

The resolution is poor. Makes no sense for a photo editing app. But anyway, Apple have an opportunity to make an excellent photo/video editing device but fail due to how limiting the ipad is. If importing pictures was more seamless and storage was expandable, they'd have it.

Woo, I managed to get it in the UK store for £6.99! It's a really good app, I'm surprised they weren't asked to demo this at the iPad 3 event.

Yeah, I was figuring it would be used as a demo app for iPad 3. Hopefully it will allow higher resolution on the new iPad as 1600x1600 can't really be used for anything other than internet photos and quick mockups.

After using the real Photoshop since version 0.8 or so this dumbed down App sound totally Photoshop Phathetic. I had hoped they would come out with a serious tool. The interface is there. Use it. I haven't seen real innovation from Adobe in years. On the other hand, they have bought up a lot of other products and destroyed them.

It's because it's coded in Adobe Air.

Give it time. On a side note.... I want one of the new cintiqs.

Try before you buy.

I have the cintiq 21ux 2nd gen and sort of regret it. The hand in the way is a pretty big pain in the bum. I use my cintiq only for linework and the rest of the painting I use regular intuos.

Apple would never do anything like that...

Oops!. ;)

I say the same for Apple too but this topic is not about Apple screwing up this time :p

Just going to add this question.... is hand obstruction your primary issue there?

I will.. I tried the 21ux (I think it was the 21ux) in basically the only place that had demo models set up here. I didn't like the stand in stability or the way it sat. I didn't like the cursor lag. I won't pay that much if there's anything I dislike about the item. My hand doesn't obstruct my own viewing too much. The newer 24HD looked more comfortable from an ergonomic standpoint.

I hate the 9x12 size of my current tablet. It always feels way too small, but a larger one would suck on a flat surface. I have trouble with a lot of shoulder movement outward for a more vertical stroke, so I typically end up rotating the canvas if I have to do a lot of them. I'd really prefer it angled no matter what.. I keep the tablet locked to an equivalent part of the screen area for accuracy. I have my tablet settings locked for a 1:1 movement ratio between my hand and what I see on screen. This means I can't really paint across my full display. I just can't stand the disconnect of something moving differently on screen. I tried mouse mode with acceleration off and mapping set low. It was better than default, but when I was testing it on broader strokes my lines seemed to develop slight corners at certain portions on a longer stroke. The other way they were completely smooth. I keep the tilt sensitivity high. I'm not sure why this happens, but it seems to fix problems with squiggles on longer sweeps. Much of my stuff requires really fine precision and a lot of fine masking (although I mostly use the pen tool there) so I test things a lot as better control and accuracy helps minimize cleanup work in the end. Quite a lot of it is print composite work, so sometimes I do have to look for very small errors.

It's because it's coded in Adobe Air.

What does that have to do with it? (not being snarky--I really want to know the basis for that assertion. another poster mentions AIR as the reason for the 1600 px limit. Can't AIR and Flash support 4,095 x 4,095 bitmaps? )

DAVE, why did you hit the launch button!!!!!!!!!!

It is funny that companies use tactics like this to try to attract attention to their products.

And to give such an idiotic answer only shows how little respect they have for the general public.

What is even more sad is that some people fall for this type of stuff

Adobe "prematurely" launched this app and priced it at $9.99

My guess is they made an error and will re-launch the app on Monday priced at $199.99 -- anyone want to take bets on this?

By the way, I have the desktop (Mac OS X) full-box version of Adobe Photoshop 5, and it was $599.99, so yes, I can say they don't exactly "give away" their software for cheap...especially Photoshop.

Great guess. Everybody will jump at that $199.99 price.

My shoulder used to get a bit sore from vertical use but then after a couple of weeks my body adjusted to it. I also stretch my shoulders a lot being a dancer so that could help too. I usually use the pen tool for deepetching stuff but if I am doing hair I always switch to the stylus. About your stroke issues I have not had any of those issues it works as expected. The brush lag is not an issue. it is there but it is soo soo close to the stylus tip that it doesn't effect your work. This only happens on long fast strokes too not small ones. I have not used the new 24HD. If comfort is your problem which was mine you can get the ergotron arm and have it any position you want. I used to get a few neck aches because I didn't have it at eye level and my neck was tilted forward a bit to look at the screen. Slight adjustments can do a world of difference in my experience.

I prefer to draw on a 4:3 screen than a 16:9 or whatever the 24HD one is. This doesn't matter for the intuos imo though only cintiqs. I have the intous 4 large and my girlfriend has the intuos 3 4:3 and I use both equally as well. You will want to get a NuShield screen protector for the cintiq. Barely any color change (not enough to complain about). Removable and neat looking. I tried the InvisibleShield but the surface is too gooey especially when the screen warms up and becomes almost impossible to draw on.

Other issues would be make sure you don't have any dead pixels!! lol. I live by this motto now. Whatever you buy, make sure you get them to get it out of the box and test it out before you leave. It saves a lot of headaches. Wacom have like a 7 dead pixel thing where you have to have up to 7 I think to get it replaced and you have to pay shipping then wait 4 months for it to come back and I hear people said it comes back with dirt under the screen. Anything I buy now I check before I pay. It makes a world of difference to me to not be scammed off by some massive price with poor customer service.

Four months? Wacom does really suck on customer service, and I've hated some of their design changes over the past few years. The cintiqs really should have a removable surface layer like the others. Wacom cheaps out on some parts of their manufacturing, but I had kind of hoped that might not be the case for such an expensive model .

I don't think the ergotron arms can attach to intuos tablets. The 24hd has a nice adjustment feature, so I'd just go for that one if I do buy a cintiq. The things you mention though make me want one much less. I keep reading your thing about the ergotron arm. You have it hooked up to the cintiq, not the intuos right? Also how stable is it?

Sorry I should have made myself more clear. I don't have the ergotron arm, I use a stand to bring it up to eye level. Honestly I regret getting the cintiq. I would much rather draw on paper scan in and paint like i do with the intuos. You don't have to worry about dead or stuck pixels. You can use a high quality display. The cintiq displays are average for price you pay :S. There is significant banding in the lower values. If I could go back in time I would have rather spent money on a good color accurate display instead. I don't want to tell you what to do just giving you facts. Some people love them some people don't. I just wished I had tried it out before buying maybe I could have saved myself some cash. You might love it. Try it out but give it a good run use it for at least 25 minutes.

I am actually going to try use mine a lot more instead of the intuos just so I can get some justification to what I paid and maybe change my mind about how I feel about it.

End of the day. There is no 'real' competitor to wacom so they can charge whatever they like.

I know.. none of the tablets are actually cheap. They're specialty items which tends to inflate the price somewhat. Given that it's a smaller market overall, they've been able to dominate. I wish their service didn't absolutely suck though. Most things they estimate at least 15 working days or so, and you pay normal shipping rates both ways. Many companies give you shipping labels so you pay their rate which is typically much lower. With one of the larger tablets, shipping would be absolutely brutal. I'm starting to lose interest in this just thinking about if anything went wrong with it post purchase. I already own an Eizo display. NEC would be my second choice. Even with a cintiq, I couldn't live without one. No display is really perfect, but a really good one makes fine tuning much easier.

my cintiq only has a tft display. I am not sure about the 24 one. I would love a NEC or Eizo. I am going to give myself 2 months to decide if I want to go ahead and sell this cintiq and just use my intuos with a new display (nec or eizo :p) or not. Depends if the cintiq can show me its love within 1 month :p
