Ads Coming Soon to Apple Maps

As reported by MediaPost, businesses in the U.S. and Canada can buy Apple Maps ad slots starting today. An introductory offer provides advertisers with a 15% credit towards future ad spend, on up to $1,000 per month of spend over the first year.

The ads do not appear to be visible in Apple Maps just yet, but they should be rolling out soon, as Apple previously stated that the ads would go live at some point in summer 2026. Ads will appear at the top of Apple Maps search results and at the top of a new "Suggested Places" section in the app.

I notice that splotlight seems to present adverts when you search your messages. I truly hope that Apple's not sending our info out to their advertisers... A pox on them.

Google Maps is a far superior mapping system and it also has ads. No reason to stick with Apple Maps, especially since Google Maps got updated with immersive navigation so Apple doesn’t even look better anymore.

I’m all for ads if they don’t get in the way of using the app. Like POI but pop up in the way garbage I don’t want to see. I still prefer Waze 98% of the time. I even tried using built in navigation on my 2023 VW Arteon and 2024 Audi A7 it was absolutely terrible, reinforced my theory that any car that does not support CarPlay is a no go for me.

Maps can be pretty awful; rerouting you mid journey. It needs to be watched very closely on a long journey.

Oh and maps on a pushbike is really random, frequently routing down a footpath which often results in a dead end (e.g. a style or person-only gate).

Maybe it is time to try Google maps?

I much prefer the maps in my Tesla to anything on CarPlay, plus it's integrated with Grok.

Probably not it will probably be prebaked based on your area, only solution is to mass quit apple maps in hope Apple goes back to without ads

Go to Apple Maps, search for “Food”.
Examine the results.
In the future, it’ll be just like that, but the top result will have a tiny “AD” logo.

Deleted Apple Maps when this was announced, there's a few things that are broken in other places because of this but I'll live with it. I don't like seeing ads, especially in Apple apps after I spend an @##load on hardware specifically because Apple isn't or wasn't an ads company
