Ads-Are-Coming-to-Apple-Maps-Feature.jpg
As reported by MediaPost, businesses in the U.S. and Canada can buy Apple Maps ad slots starting today. An introductory offer provides advertisers with a 15% credit towards future ad spend, on up to $1,000 per month of spend over the first year.

The ads do not appear to be visible in Apple Maps just yet, but they should be rolling out soon, as Apple previously stated that the ads would go live at some point in summer 2026. Ads will appear at the top of Apple Maps search results and at the top of a new "Suggested Places" section in the app.

Absolutely ridiculous, and that's me being polite. What I would really like to say would get me banned.

As if Apple really needed any more money 🙄

How to block this rubbish? Hopefully there'll be a VPN which will block all this nonsense.

I notice that splotlight seems to present adverts when you search your messages. I truly hope that Apple's not sending our info out to their advertisers... A pox on them.
It's not the annoying third-party ads; Apple isn't selling your info. They're essentially promoted search results. They'll be businesses related to what you searched for. So if you search for food, "Dave's BBQ" that's nearby might show at the top of the list because that business paid to be promoted.

Look at the two screenshots in this article. Did you see the ads? (It's "The Honeyed Hen" with the little blue 'Ad' label.)

Fun fact: The App Store already does this. Have you noticed there are "ads" there too?

Google Maps is a far superior mapping system and it also has ads. No reason to stick with Apple Maps, especially since Google Maps got updated with immersive navigation so Apple doesn’t even look better anymore.

Google Maps has gone to turd with the advent of Ai.

Google Maps hasn’t been superior since 2016. I live in a very well established town and it still can’t navigate around correctly.

Switched to Apple Maps to avoid Google Maps ads and data tracking.

If I’m getting ads, I’m using the better map service — that’s Google Maps, no question and no doubt. Will be deleting Apple Maps when the ads come up. Feels tacky as hell for a “premium” brand.
Apple is not and has never been premium
Billions in the 3rd world can afford it

It has always been a copium statement by the fan bois

I absolutely detest ads. I use a VPN and adblock everywhere, including Apple TV. As a customer, I dislike unsolicited offers. While I understand that most average users don’t mind ads, I personally despise them and will stop using any service that doesn’t at least offer a workaround. Therefore, if Apple implements a system-wide ad system, I won’t bother until my VPN DNS settings effectively block them. Otherwise, goodbye Apple.

Greedy apple
No kidding. Apple isn't making enough money yet???? They need to spoil the user experience by stooping to ads?

GREEDY %#$%$#%!!!! GREEDY beyond belief. They strut around like they're a friendly customer conscience company, but show me a greedier company than Apple. Insert every derogatory cuss word here, that MR won't let me type... The B word, the C word, etc... I was hoping that Apple was above this, but apparently their greed won out, AGAIN...

It's a disgrace. First, the App Store with the first hit an ad and today I saw that the third hit is an ad too. And now Maps is selling out too. We were paying premium prices for a privacy centric ecosystem, and now its just an advertising tool to make you buy more stuff. What a legacy from Cook.
