Just out of curiosity I am wondering if I did a mistake or not. Still, not sure. But if the phone scratch (and it will without a cover) I will just say to myself, "It is what it is, live and learn" :)

Nope, I don't believe any of the reviews.. none of them did any proper testing. They slammed it in their pocket without a case, near wallets, keys and change. Of course you're going to get scratches by doing that! They are making something out of nothing. Apple mentioned to use a case with JB and since they made the product I'm pretty sure they know what they are talking about. I bought a case for mine.. a back skin as well, which I may or may not use.

It'll scratch even with a cover. If it's anything like the iPhone 3g once a speck of dirt gets between the case and phone it will scratch it.

Yeah that's what's people are failing to realize. They are like I'll just throw a cover on there but dust can get trapped behind the case and actually cause more damage.

If I was ordering the JB. I would get a rear screen protector to slap on the back of it and then put the case on.

To me, this color reminds me of the old iPhone 5 days. Had the slick looking black at the top and bottom and the matte look in the middle. Now, if they had done that, I think that would've also have been amazing. I ordered the iPhone 7+ in JB, and I am super excited about this color. Just looks pristine. Yes, fingerprints, grease, dirt, you name it, I'm sure it will be all over the phone, but like many others around here I use clear cases to show off such colors. Pretty much every iPhone I have owned has had to have had a case. But, that's just me. I'm willing to keep this phone looking as clean as I can as long as I can. This color to me looks way to pretty to even pass up on, but then again, only time will tell. If they have a clear skin to put on it, (websites anyone?) I'd like to do that THEN put a case on it. ;)

Are you getting the black sooner after the change? Any delay because of the change? Did you order using a carrier or Apple?

Thanks

I ordered through Apple. Already had Oct 4 - 10 delivery date for Jet Black, now have Oct 6 - 12 date for Black. So not a huge deal. Would have been better of course if I just ordered Black to begin with. :) I might try to see if I luck out getting one in-store in the meantime.

Hard to tell the scale of the scratches from the released photos. They all are very zoomed in and cropped. They could be microscopic, or they could be huge.

Personally, it makes no difference to me because I don't plan on regularly inspecting the back of my phone from 8 inches away. I also have no issue with the battle-tested, covered in scratches look iPod Classics and iBooks resulted in.

I have no remorse for pre-ordering the Jet Black iPhone, I didn't buy because of others opinion, I like it, I want it regardless of the scratching and finger print problems might have.

Because you should be forced into buying a case to keep it perfect. Some people don't want to and other colors can hide scratches easier

Same here. This reminds me of my old iPod with shiny back. Sure it's got some scratches, but I don't usually looking at the back of the device! I'm looking at the screen.

But whatever, next year I'll be getting new one anyway.

No one forced anyone to purchase this color.. they told everyone it could scratch.. put a case on it.. if you don't.. then why complain about how it scratches? This is the same nonsense that comes out everytime Apple releases a product. People make up some garbage and run it into the ground. Gate gate gate gate gate.. = NONSENSE!

LOl nothing looks quality scratched up...
Fair comment dude, I will have nothing covering my phone and cannot wait to get my greasy fingers all over it for a whole year.
I am intrigued to see how it holds up and will embrace the scratches.

BS. The reviewer at Engadget did none of those things and it still looked messed up. Near wallets? Really? Why would I want a device that scratches from LEATHER touching it.

Wallet edges, leather has multifiber threads that can cause scratches even on the front screen. Also.. it's a review.. they've had the device for weeks.. with no cases.. even though they were told to use them with that color way. It's simple.. this color way will scratch.. but hey lets exploit the fact that it does to put down Apple. Put down Apple for other things.. but this colorway will scratch garbage is petty.

As for buyers remorse, I only regret ordering due to the delivery time. I will be hitting the Apple Store line early Friday morning to see what's available.

Jet Black is my first choice still, but may not be available.

Matte black is my second choice. If I can't grab a 128GB or 256GB, then I may just wait it out until my October 4-10 ship date.

The reviews certainly have me second guessing my decision for going Jet black but i dont know what my option is at this point to be honest, i preordered my jet black 128gb plus as soon as preorders started on the 9th and i have a shipping estimate of 2-3 weeks with a delivery windows of Oct4-Oct10, if i was to cancel my Jet black pre order and order a Matte black one which has a shipping estimate of 2-3 Weeks as of the writing of this post, what would my delivery window be?
