After reading the reviews, do you have buyers remorse regarding the Jet Black?

I thought we went through scuffgate with the iPhone 5 back in 2012 and Apple responded by dropping black for the 5S. Unless Apple has significantly altered the materials or the manufacturing process, it will be deja vu all over again this year.

Not going to take those reviews seriously. I mean one of them dropped his phone in a glass of beer.

Yeah but that doesn't matter. Watch and see. People love trolling this time of year and nothing is different if they told us or didn't tell us.

It's going to be terrible and really old really fast. Expect first post within an hour on launch day.

I don't have a JB + ship date until November, which has me a bit relieved, since now I can head to the Apple Store on Saturday and check these things out in person. I don't care about scratches as much as I do fingerprints. My biggest hesitation with the matte black was that it looks more gray to me, but I think I really need to just see it in person to finally decide.

Just out of curiosity I am wondering if I did a mistake or not. Still, not sure. But if the phone scratch (and it will without a cover) I will just say to myself, "It is what it is, live and learn" :)

OP, you should add fourth option - "I'm glad I didn't order the Jet Black, the review reinforced my decision''

Anyone who keeps its after reading these horror story reviews just has to much pride to admit they made the wrong choice. Think of your iphone 3G, and remember how horrid that would look. You spent 900$ to have a phone with hairline scuffs and scratches and smudges? A case makes owning that color pointless.

So I made a wrong choice? Thanks for the heads up.

I've never experienced buyer's remorse from ANY single Apple product I've ever purchased

I did, but only with one product, the Apple Watch first generation. But, the second generation is another story. I will get it without buyers remorse.

If I got the jet black I'd use a case but every night before bed I'd take it off, wipe it down and marvel at it's awesomeness. You shouldn't tell people how to spend their money.

Nope, I don't believe any of the reviews.. none of them did any proper testing. They slammed it in their pocket without a case, near wallets, keys and change. Of course you're going to get scratches by doing that! They are making something out of nothing. Apple mentioned to use a case with JB and since they made the product I'm pretty sure they know what they are talking about. I bought a case for mine.. a back skin as well, which I may or may not use.
Actually, if they put it in a case, it's not testing any more. By regularly using it daily, the phone scratches up quick. Putting it in a case, it's be harder to get scratch. That's just so obvious!

I shouldn't, but I will. As someone who has been around long enough and experienced all the horrors of every iphone since the original I feel entitled to tell people what to do. Now if they don't listen that's where I come in later and say "I told you so."

Reading through threads like this I have a feeling there will be a lot of buyers' remorse, all those people who listened to the panic merchants and ended up not ordering the colour they really wanted.

We are so lucky to have you, endowed with entitlements and all...

there is no accounting for taste there are men (kind of) on this board who are ordering rose gold iphone. if you have preordered a JB iphone please do cancel, so i can get mine quicker :)

I take back my statements... my only regret in buying it might be if it COMES scratched up already. I will be highly disappointed.

I somehow managed to put a small white-ish looking scratch on the back of my ("unscratchable") space gray iphone 6+ the first weekend owning it... it's life. And I already have a case for the JB :) (if 'dust' causes it to scratch in the case, so be it.

What would we ever do on this forum without your wisdom?

There'll be a storm of complaints, even with Apple's careful disclosure. A case isn't even a one-and-done to prevent them, any particles getting between the phone and the case will cause them from friction, or from rubbing action depending on the case material. And then, you have to think, if I'm getting Jet Black just to put it in a non-clear case, does the color even really matter?

All that said, all iPhones get micro-abrasions (or any phone made of most plastics or metals), the difference is they're typically only visible with a high-gloss finish, such as Jet Black. Apple knows it's going to be a thing, or they wouldn't have bothered with the disclosure up-front. John Gruber said he noticed the micro-abrasions after 2 days of very careful use on his Jet Black loaner, and he was going to be interested to see how it holds up moving forward.

I don't see it as a real problem, per se, but I can guarantee there will be some unhappy folks out there. Of the colors, it'll "wear" the worst, just due to the high-gloss finish.
