I'm most likely not going to upgrade till the next generation after but if it's available for a good deal, (Apple Watch 1 42mm for $299. $100 off) then I might just think about spilling the cash lol

But when the new Watch comes out I do plan on getting it. I told her she could have my old one if she wishes, but she really isn't into technology at all and doesn't have much interest.

Yes, family will get the current AW, while I upgrade.

It's a way to keep everyone connected, even when they are not highly motivated.

They soon become interested.

Especially, with the value that the AW provides.

We all will, it's a matter of time.

If I can score a gen 2 for $250 and sell or trade-in my gen 1 for a good price, I would.

Otherwise, I think I can wait until the redesign. A deep blue color would tempt me, though!

i think apple should make a band that is able to charge your watch as you are moving along to save you have to dock your watch and have to wait for the watch to charge up again and use it this can be a pain i have found in the past.

i have found apple watch with replying with scribble wont last all day at all i am looking to get about 7 hours of use out of it which is ok but could do with some improvements so i could last all day with no problems for example you are on a train or a on bus some where you are not going to have a wall outlet to plug your watch into be able to charge it up again

So you would have to wait till you get home and then plug the watch in and wait for this to charge up
in time you would be back to using your phone to reply to messages if you are like me and enjoy
using the scribble feature then this is not great fun i have found i text quicker using scribble then
i do using a phone keyboard now

I highly doubt that I will upgrade to the AW2. I have been using my AW less and less lately, and I'd rather upgrade to the iPhone 7 which I use everyday over the AW. Maybe I will upgrade to the AW3 or even AW4, but it just depends on what new features are offered.

The Apple Watch 2 is going to be amazing

-GPS
-Oneglass watch
-barometer
-better battery
-better processor
-smart band support

So hyped ! This is going to be a fantastic purchase !

It will be, when it's released. I think it's strange how we haven't seen ANY leaks yet and it's supposedly coming out next month.

Any stranger than not seeing ANY leaks on the Hermes AW, yellow gold/rose gold aluminum AW, nylon bands, or the new band colors on all except the pastel Sport bands with the two AW1 refreshes?

Not really in need of gps, or FaceTime or cellular connection. I go nowhere without my iPhone. I'm sure it does for some, maybe will increase marketshare and or appeal to new users. I refuse to ever pay a monthly fee to use a watch!

I'm not upgrading anything this year. I think 2017 will be a huge upgrade year for me. New Macbook with built in touch ID and display bar above the keyboard, 10th anniversary redesigned iPhone, and redesigned 3rd Gen Apple Watch. Can't wait!

Haha 10th anniversary me to, but have to many devices now so do one a year, easier on pocketbook. This year is iPad, year after iPhone & AW3 next year MacBook Pro

The AW2 features outlined in the OP are just speculation at this point, and for me, none are compelling enough to upgrade. TBH, I'm more interested to see how watchOS 3 works on my current Apple Watch, and we know for sure that will be coming next month. For my use of the watch, that will be a big upgrade by itself.

I've gotten a new iPhone 6S and iPad Pro 9.7 this year, so unless there is a killer new feature on either of those devices, I'm set for iOS gear for now. The iPad Pro is so capable for my use, it has essentially replaced my MacBook Air. What I really need is a new iMac. Hopefully Intel can get their act together and supply the proper chips so the new iMacs and MacBooks can come out later this year or early next year.

I've already upgraded to it I can tell you now, watchOS 3 is a game changer. Beta 5 was released yesterday and it's fully stable and pretty much ready for public release. The scribble function in itself has given the Watch a whole new lease on life. I actually reply to texts from my Watch on a regular basis now, something I never used to do. My banking and stock apps are stored in the new dock and load up almost instantly. Battery life is unchanged from OS 2, where it was already great. Siri is also much more responsive, faster, and actually worth using. Thoroughly impressed over all.

This is great to hear, thanks for the feedback. I'm looking forward to this upgrade!

Curious, is your watch the 38 or 42mm model? I ask because my wife's 38 runs through battery much faster than my 42. While some of this is to be expected since the 38 has a smaller battery, I'm wondering if the drain is simply the way she uses the watch.

Mine is the 42mm. The 38mm is known to have a slightly shorter battery life.

When did Apple announce all this? My usual visit to macsurfer.com hasn't revealed anything concrete.

They don't need to announce it. What else do you expect them to add to AW2 if they don't redesign? One would assume: a couple small features, and better battery life, as the case won't be getting thinner.

I think the only way I would upgrade would be GPS built in and/or great bands that add better sensors and more sensors and GPS if not built in. Probably also need independent wi-fi as well.

Would have zero desire if it added a camera or larger or 2 days life instead of current.

Yeah, seems to me like AW2 is same form factor, better processor, GPS, new bands (obviously). AW3 will be "redesign" (maybe similar shape/design) but just a bit thinner, and include facetime camera + ???
[doublepost=1470934798][/doublepost]I personally don't own one, but one of the main things that was holding me back was lack of GPS, so I welcome this inclusion very much. I will be using this for convenience of notifications and primary activity tracker/fitness (including running & change in elevation) - so while barometer isn't a requirement, the GPS + barometer combo is what I expect from a product I will primarily be using for fitness tracking.
[doublepost=1470934903][/doublepost]The only question now is whether to buy the SS space black, or go with the sport (matte grey). I would prefer the Space Black in all situations, but I'm afraid it might look too fancy for the gym/for getting dirty :p

You guys are talking about it like it already happened.

I suppose I've forgotten that this is macrumors.com instead of macfacts.com.

[doublepost=1470937295][/doublepost]I hate having to go over this over and over and over again. Rumors are not random guesses, these come from supply chain leaks - and put two and two together (with basic product life logic) and you can determine what apple will very likely do. It's pretty simple. If we don't see the above features, then please do tell me, what will we see?

The only thing that has a chance of being up in the air is that they may have a full redesign this year instead of the above. No one really guessed that as being the case though since that's not what apple has done in the past with other products, and the watch itself has even less reason to follow that line of thought.
